The logo is a separate layer: it does not set the stream’s resolution, frame rate, or bitrate. Configure those output settings independently, and test the stream in YouTube Live Control Room before making it public.
Add the logo to the loop scene
- Open the OBS scene that contains the video loop. Add the logo to that scene rather than editing or re-encoding the underlying video. OBS supports image sources; see the OBS Project Knowledge Base search for Image Sources.
- Add an Image source and choose your logo file. Keep it as a separate source so you can reposition, resize, hide, or replace it without altering the loop footage. Exact button labels may differ by OBS version.
- Layer and position the logo. In Sources, move the logo above the video source so it appears on top. Resize and place it in the preview. As composition guidance—not a YouTube requirement—keep it within the picture area and clear of captions, focal details, and the screen edges.
- Check the output separately. If the source footage and computer can sustain it, set the canvas and output to 3840×2160 at 60 fps. Adding an image source does not make a lower-resolution or lower-frame-rate stream 4K60.
- Preview and test. Check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and stream health before going public. Include representative movement and audio in the test so you can spot a misplaced logo, missing sound, or unstable delivery. Set YouTube’s 4K60 encoder values
YouTube’s encoder settings guidance, accessed October 3, 2026, gives different bitrate recommendations by codec. Choose values that match the encoder you are actually using; the H.264 figure is not a universal target for AV1 or H.265.

These are YouTube’s published values for 4K/2160p at 60 fps; check its live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions when configuring a later stream, because platform guidance can change.
- Rate control: YouTube recommends CBR.
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second interval; YouTube allows a maximum interval of 4 seconds.
- Frame rate: Supported encoder frame rate is up to 60 fps.
- Connection: YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Latency: 4K/2160 streams use normal latency; YouTube’s low-latency option is unavailable at that resolution.
YouTube detects encoder settings automatically by default. A custom stream key allows manual resolution settings. YouTube also transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers, so your encoder output is not the only version viewers may receive. Its encoder settings guidance is the reference for these behaviors.

What the logo overlay does—and does not do
The overlay is part of the OBS scene while the loop plays; it need not be permanently baked into the video. Treat scene composition and stream delivery as separate jobs: the Image source controls the visible brand mark, while the encoder and YouTube stream settings control resolution, frame rate, bitrate, keyframes, and transport. YouTube describes encoders as a way to stream gameplay and overlays in its live streaming tips.
This workflow assumes you already have a loop scene. The cited guidance establishes how to add an image source and configure YouTube delivery, but does not establish a version-specific sequence for making an OBS video source repeat. Consult the controls in your installed OBS version for loop playback rather than treating the overlay steps as loop configuration.

Troubleshoot before going live
- The logo is hidden behind the video: Move its Image source above the video source in Sources.
- The logo does not appear in the preview: Confirm the correct logo file is selected and that the source is visible in the scene.
- The stream is not 4K60: Check the canvas and output resolution and frame rate, then confirm the encoder can sustain them. The logo itself does not change output settings.
- YouTube reports stream-health problems: Check that the bitrate matches the selected codec, use CBR, set a 2-second keyframe interval (no more than 4 seconds), and use RTMPS as YouTube recommends. Test again and monitor Live Control Room.
- The picture looks wrong despite a healthy stream: Review the logo’s size and position in the OBS preview, especially whether it covers important text or detail.
