To loop a prerecorded Tamil sleep meditation on YouTube Live, add the video to an OBS Studio scene as a Media Source, enable Loop, then send OBS to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Keep the computer, OBS, media file, and internet connection running while the broadcast is live. This guide covers setup, encoder settings, testing, rights, and a cloud alternative.
Prepare the meditation file and confirm your rights
Render and check a stable video file with the Tamil narration, music, and visuals already mixed. Use content you created or are authorized to broadcast, keep a clean local copy, and listen and watch through the complete file before you go live. OBS Media Source supports common local video and audio formats, but playback and loop transitions can vary by file, codec, computer, and scene setup. OBS: Media Sources
If you want a still visual while the audio continues, use a finished audiovisual file or verify the behavior of separate video and audio sources in your chosen scene. Do not assume every source combination will loop or stay synchronized as intended.
Loop one file or a playlist in OBS
Loop one meditation file
- Open OBS and create or select the scene for the broadcast.
- In Sources, choose + → Media Source. Name the source and select OK.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Local File if needed, browse to the meditation video, and select it.
- Enable Loop, then select OK.
- Preview the scene and listen through the point where the file restarts. Adjust the source or edit the file if the transition has an unwanted pause, flash, or abrupt audio change.
OBS documents that Media Source can replay a file when playback completes. Check the labels in your installed OBS version, as interface details can change. OBS: Media Sources

Loop multiple clips
For a playlist, add a VLC Video source, select the clips, and enable Loop Playlist. This source requires VLC; if it is unavailable in OBS, install VLC for the same system architecture as OBS and reopen OBS. Preview the transitions in sequence before broadcasting. OBS: Media Sources
Enable YouTube Live and connect OBS
Your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, according to YouTube’s live-streaming guidance. - In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live to reach the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream and choose the stream tab. Set an accurate title and description, appropriate language and audience details, and the visibility you want: public, private, or unlisted. Scheduling can help subscribers see an upcoming stream. Tags play only a minimal discovery role except for commonly misspelled terms. YouTube: Manage live stream settings
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the Live Control Room. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube if available, and enter or paste the requested server and key details. Labels can vary by OBS version.
- Treat the key as a password: do not publish it, show it in a screen recording, or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” If exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS. YouTube: Manage live stream settings
Choose encoder settings and protect upload headroom
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery. Its general encoder guidance recommends H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), a keyframe interval of 2 seconds (not over 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that your connection can sustain the selected rate. Match output to your source and test the connection the encoder will actually use. YouTube recommends keeping total stream bitrate within available upload bandwidth and leaving 20% headroom. Run an upload-speed test on that connection; other devices and users sharing it can reduce capacity. Wired Ethernet may help avoid some wireless variability, but it cannot make an undersized upload connection sufficient. YouTube: Streaming tips

In OBS, set the output resolution and frame rate to suit the rendered video and the bitrate your tested connection can support. A higher resolution is not automatically better for a quiet meditation stream if it leaves too little upload headroom or causes interruptions.
Test, start, and monitor the live stream
- Set up OBS and YouTube Studio in advance. Start OBS streaming and wait for the Live Control Room preview.
- Check that the picture is framed correctly, Tamil narration and music are audible without clipping, and the loop restarts cleanly. Use representative audio and movement during the test.
- Check YouTube’s stream health and monitor picture and sound during the broadcast. If practical, open the watch page on another device to confirm what viewers receive.
- If the stream is scheduled and auto-start is not enabled, start the broadcast in YouTube’s Live Control Room after the preview is ready. A local OBS loop only repeats the media. You still need to keep the encoder and connection available and monitor for feed or quality problems. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after the encoder stops sending. Do not assume a stream lasting 12 hours or longer will be fully archived; plan a restart or separate recording and archive workflow if preserving the complete program matters. Copyright, reused content, and monetization
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other live broadcasts. A match can trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the content continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for licensed material to run in a live stream. Claims on archived live streams can also arrive after the stream ends. Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s policy, updated July 15, 2025, calls repetitive or mass-produced material “inauthentic content” and applies its channel monetization rules to live streams too. A working loop, a license, or a lack of copyright claims does not by itself establish eligibility. When to use OBS and when to use a cloud service
OBS is the direct do-it-yourself option when you want control over the scene and encoder and can leave a computer and dependable connection running. A hosted encoder can suit a creator who does not want the local computer to stay on. In either setup, you remain responsible for the media rights, stream settings, and checking YouTube’s output.

Common problems and fixes
- The file stops instead of repeating: Open Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For a playlist, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist.
- VLC Video is missing: Install VLC for the same system architecture as OBS, then reopen OBS. Confirm the VLC source is available in Sources.
- YouTube shows no preview: Confirm OBS is streaming, the stream URL and key are current, and the channel has live access. Allow for first-time activation, which can take up to 24 hours.
- The stream drops or reports poor health: Check actual upload capacity and competing network use, reduce output bitrate or resolution to a sustainable setting, and preserve the recommended 20% headroom.
- The picture appears but the meditation audio does not: Check that the file contains audio, the source is not muted, and OBS’s audio meters respond. Listen to the preview and watch-page output before relying on the overnight stream.
- YouTube interrupts the broadcast: Check for a third-party-content warning. Stop or replace material you are not authorized to stream; for licensed content, ask the rights holder about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- The archive is incomplete or absent: YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to streams under 12 hours. For longer sessions, use a separate recording or plan a restart if a complete archive is important.
