How to Make a Church YouTube Sermon Playlist Restart After the Last Video

Enable YouTube’s playlist Loop or Repeat • Playlist control to return to the first sermon after the last. Find the setting on a computer, phone, TV, or church website embed.

To make a church sermon playlist start over after its last video, turn on YouTube’s Loop or Repeat • Playlist control. Autoplay is different: it may play a related video rather than return to the first sermon. The control’s location depends on whether you are watching on a computer, phone or tablet, TV, or an embedded church website player.

Loop a sermon playlist on a computer

  1. Open a sermon that belongs to the YouTube playlist.
  2. Expand the playlist panel beside the video.
  3. Click Loop in the playlist box. YouTube says this repeats the playlist continuously. YouTube’s computer instructions describe the playlist loop control.

Loop a playlist on a phone or tablet

  1. Start playing the playlist in the YouTube app.
  2. Open or locate the playlist control box beneath the video.
  3. Tap Loop. Check the control after tapping: another selection can switch to repeating only the current video, rather than the full playlist. YouTube’s Android playlist-loop instructions explain the repeat control.

Set playlist repeat on a TV or game console

  1. Select and play the sermon playlist.
  2. Use the remote or controller to open the player controls.
  3. Select Repeat until the displayed mode says Repeat • Playlist. A repeat setting for the current video alone will keep replaying that sermon, not cycle through the list.

Put the playlist on a church website

  1. Open the playlist on YouTube and choose Share, then Embed.
  2. Copy YouTube’s embed code and add it to the church website using the site’s embed or HTML block.
  3. If you want the embedded player to request autoplay, YouTube documents adding &autoplay=1 to the player URL. Autoplay and playlist looping are separate settings: that parameter alone is not documented as a guarantee that the playlist returns to its first sermon. YouTube’s embed guidance covers playlist embeds and autoplay.
  4. Test the complete playlist in the actual page, browser, and device the congregation will use. Confirm that playback reaches the last sermon and returns to the first before relying on it during a service.

Autoplay is not playlist looping

Autoplay is intended to play another related video after the current video ends; it does not mean “start this playlist again.” YouTube’s Autoplay guidance describes that next-video behavior. For a sermon sequence that should begin again at the first item, enable the playlist’s Loop or Repeat • Playlist control.

Fix common playback problems

  • A recommended video plays after the final sermon: enable playlist Loop/Repeat. Autoplay can choose a related video rather than restart your list.
  • The same sermon starts again: change the repeat mode from single-video repeat to playlist repeat. On a TV or console, look for the explicit Repeat • Playlist label.
  • An embedded sermon will not play: check whether embedding is allowed and whether the video is age-restricted. YouTube says age-restricted videos cannot be watched on most third-party websites.
  • An embedded player shows error 153: YouTube says embedded playback requires an HTTP Referer from the enclosing context; check that the page or integration supplies it.

Playlist controls and embed requirements do not establish uninterrupted playback in every device or website configuration. Test the setup you plan to use rather than assuming it will run indefinitely.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your church needs an always-on YouTube stream playing uploaded sermons rather than a playlist watched through the YouTube player, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream at their original quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start a free StreamNeo day.
