First prepare and verify the channel, confirm you have permission to broadcast every recording and performance, then configure an encoder to play the files continuously and send its output to YouTube. A 24/7 broadcast is not a dependable way to create a complete replay: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Before you start: prepare the channel and the music
Enable live streaming in advance
YouTube requires a verified channel and says it must not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube for Artists recommends enabling live streams at least 24 hours before a channel’s first music broadcast, so do not leave channel setup until the planned launch time.
Clear rights for every recording
Having an MP4 file—or permission to listen to it—does not establish permission to broadcast it. Check the rights for the musical work, the specific recording, and any performance captured in it. Indian copyright law addresses communication of works and performances to the public, and performers have rights relating to broadcast or public communication. The permissions needed depend on the tracks, performers, rights holders, territory, and whether you also intend to make an archive available; there is no single blanket licence established here for every Indian music stream.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects protected material, it may replace the live image, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. YouTube also cautions that even licensed music can trigger an interruption if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. If you rely on label, distributor, or other rights-holder permission, ask the relevant owner to handle any required allowlisting before you go live. YouTube for Artists specifically recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music.

Choose the continuous-stream setup
The basic arrangement is an encoder that plays your MP4 material as a continuous audio-video feed and sends that feed to the YouTube live event. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming; the encoder’s job is to read or play the source media, encode the live output, and transmit it to the event. The MP4 file is the source, not necessarily the format or protocol used for the live connection.
Check the files and the encoder’s YouTube configuration
Google’s live-ingest documentation lists MP4 containing H.264 video and AAC audio among the supported DASH media formats. That does not mean every MP4 will work unchanged with every encoder or ingest protocol. DASH requires segmented media and has requirements including closed GOPs and periodic manifest and initialization updates. YouTube’s HLS ingest is a separate workflow with its own requirements, including muxed M2TS media and AAC audio; do not treat HLS as interchangeable with sending an MP4 file.

Use the current YouTube configuration offered by the encoder you choose, and follow that encoder’s instructions for source playback, output format, and ingest protocol. The official material available for this guide does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, computer specification, operating system, or menu path for looping MP4s 24/7. Those values depend on the encoder and its current YouTube configuration; do not copy a bitrate or keyframe setting from an unrelated workflow and assume it applies.
DIY workflow: send MP4 playback to a YouTube live event
- Prepare the channel. Verify the channel and make sure it has no live-stream restriction from the preceding 90 days. For a first music-channel live stream, enable live streaming at least 24 hours ahead as YouTube for Artists recommends.
- Assemble a rights-cleared playlist. Include only recordings and performances you are entitled to broadcast. If a label, distributor, or other owner has licensed the music, confirm whether the channel must be added to that owner’s Content ID allowlist before the event.
- Choose and configure an encoder. Select an encoder that can play the MP4 files as continuous audio and video and send the result to a YouTube live event. Check its current YouTube instructions for playback, output encoding, and the selected ingest protocol. Do not assume that an MP4 source file alone specifies the live-stream format.
- Create the YouTube live event and connect the encoder. Use YouTube’s live-stream setup and the connection method supported by the encoder. Keep the stream key private: it is the credential that allows an encoder to send a broadcast to the associated stream.
- Test before announcing the stream. Confirm that YouTube receives both picture and sound, that the intended playlist plays in the expected order, and that playback continues across the transition between files. Resolve errors in the encoder or YouTube event before treating the broadcast as continuously live.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. A DIY setup depends on the encoder continuing to run and on its connection to YouTube remaining available. Check the event and encoder for interruptions rather than assuming that a successful start guarantees an uninterrupted 24-hour transmission.
Decide whether a 24/7 stream or shorter sessions fit the replay goal
If your priority is a continuous channel presence, a long-running stream may suit that purpose, but it has an important archive trade-off. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If viewers need a complete replay, split programming into shorter scheduled sessions that stay under 12 hours and retain a local recording as a backup. Do not rely on the YouTube archive to preserve a full 24/7 broadcast.

Troubleshooting common problems
You cannot start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified and has not had a live-stream restriction within the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, confirm live streaming was enabled early enough; YouTube for Artists recommends enabling it at least 24 hours beforehand.
YouTube interrupts the music stream or replaces its picture
A third-party-content match may be the cause. Review the rights for the specific recording and performance, then contact the rights owner, label, or distributor. If the music is licensed, ask whether the channel needs to be added to the owner’s Content ID allowlist; a licence by itself may not prevent an automated interruption.

The encoder rejects a file or the live connection fails
Check whether the file’s codecs and container are compatible with the encoder and the selected ingest workflow. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is listed for DASH, while YouTube’s HLS ingest has distinct media requirements. Follow the encoder’s current YouTube setup rather than assuming that a source MP4 is itself a compliant live-ingest stream.
The live broadcast is missing or incomplete in the archive
Check the stream’s duration. YouTube warns that a broadcast longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a complete replay, use shorter sessions and keep a local archive recording.
