To run a 24/7 devotional stream with aarti timings visible, prepare the devotional video and audio, show a temple-specific schedule in an overlay, then send the program to YouTube Live through an encoder. In OBS, the most straightforward editable approach is a text source that reads a UTF-8 file: update and save the file when the organizer changes the schedule. Confirm the current timings with the relevant temple or ritual organizer, label the correct local time zone, and test the full setup before leaving it unattended.
1. Confirm the schedule and clear the material
There is no universal aarti timetable to put on screen. Ask the temple or ritual organizer for its current schedule and record the temple name, location, time zone, event label, and date checked. Verify festival and special-event changes before broadcasting. For example, the Hindu Temple Society of North America lists a daily 7:30 p.m. Sarva Devata Harati and notes that its streaming schedule can change, including on festival dates; that time applies to that temple, not to devotional streams generally (temple schedule). Shri Kesariyaji Temple publishes its own sequence of daily ritual timings, likewise specific to that temple (temple schedule).
Decide what the stream will show: a live camera feed, an original prepared program, or prerecorded material played as a loop. These are different production workflows. Gather only footage, images, music, chants, and recordings for which the channel has the necessary rights or permission. YouTube describes encoders as a way to manage an advanced production and use external audio/video hardware (YouTube encoder help).
2. Build the devotional scene and aarti overlay
In OBS, create a scene containing the devotional video and audio sources, then add a text source for the schedule. OBS’s reference manual documents a text source that can read from a file and reload when that file is saved; it also explains reusable scenes (OBS sources guide). Use a short, high-contrast line such as “Next: Evening Aarti — 7:30 p.m. local time.” Treat that only as a format example: display the selected temple’s verified current time, not the example time.

Keep the text large enough to read on a phone and place it where it does not obscure important imagery or captions. Include the time zone or “local time” so viewers elsewhere do not mistake the displayed time for their own. Assign a person to update the text file when the organizer changes the schedule, and save a dated copy of confirmed schedules for reference.
An automatically updated schedule is possible only if the production team has a suitable, tested data feed. Verify event names, time zone and daylight-saving behavior, and what appears if the feed fails. The documented editable-file method does not itself provide an automated calendar connection.

3. Choose an encoder and configure YouTube Live
YouTube supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. A dedicated appliance is optional; YouTube says beginners do not need expensive equipment to get started (YouTube streaming setup guidance). OBS is a practical software route when it meets the production’s needs. Hardware may suit a more specialized setup, but check a device’s overlay workflow before buying: the available platform guidance does not establish capabilities for any particular model.
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming well before the planned broadcast (YouTube encoder help).
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Use the stream URL and stream key provided there in the encoder. Treat the key like a password; do not display it in the stream or share it publicly.
- Connect the encoder. Select the OBS scene with the devotional sources and schedule overlay, and enter the YouTube stream details in the encoder’s streaming settings. Follow the current YouTube and encoder prompts for settings; the cited sources do not establish one bitrate or resolution that fits every connection and production.
- Wait for preview before going live. Start the encoder and check that YouTube receives the expected video and audio. Confirm the event is reachable from the channel or watch page and on mobile devices before relying on it.
4. Test continuity, viewing and archive handling
Before a long broadcast, test the entire path: video loop, audio, overlay, stream preview, and what happens after a connection interruption. Confirm that the schedule remains accurate and readable, that audio does not stop unexpectedly, and that the event is accessible to viewers. YouTube advises setting up encoder events in advance, starting the encoder before the event, checking preview and reachability, and monitoring audio and video quality (YouTube streaming setup guidance).

YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived (YouTube encoder help). Do not assume a stream longer than that will produce one complete automatic archive. If retaining a complete recording matters, plan and verify archive handling rather than relying on a single continuous broadcast to create it.
5. Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may show a placeholder and warn the channel; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. YouTube also warns that licensed third-party content can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist where that is needed (YouTube copyright issues with live streams).

- Obtain and keep documentation for the rights to devotional recordings, compositions, images, and footage.
- Ask the rights owner whether the channel needs to be allowlisted for Content ID.
- Test any licensed material in the stream workflow before depending on it for a continuous broadcast; a license alone does not guarantee the platform will not interrupt it.
Software encoder or hardware encoder?

Troubleshooting common problems
The aarti time is wrong or out of date
Check the organizer’s current schedule, including festival exceptions, then update and save the text file. Confirm that the overlay states the applicable time zone and the date the schedule was checked. Do not substitute another temple’s published timing.
The OBS text does not update
Confirm the source points to the intended text file, that the file was saved, and that the source is configured to reload from the file. Check the OBS preview before restarting the YouTube event.

YouTube does not show a preview
Confirm the channel is eligible for live streaming and that first-time activation has completed. Check that the encoder is using the stream URL and key from the correct Live Control Room event, then start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview.
The live stream is interrupted after music or footage starts
YouTube may have detected third-party content. Review the rights documentation and contact the rights owner about any required Content ID allowlisting. A license does not by itself prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted where required.
The stream is longer than 12 hours and there is no complete archive
YouTube’s stated automatic archive condition covers streams under 12 hours. For a longer broadcast, do not assume a single complete automatic archive will be available; plan separate archive handling and verify the resulting recording.
