You can run recorded CAT classes as a continuous YouTube Live feed by connecting a looping video source to YouTube Live Control Room with an encoder, then monitoring the stream. Before launch, verify that your channel can livestream and that you have rebroadcast rights for every recording and embedded asset. Choose your archive plan deliberately: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so a single uninterrupted 24/7 event is not a reliable way to create a complete replay.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has live streaming enabled, and has no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- An encoder or service that can send a composed video feed to YouTube and play your recorded classes in sequence or on a loop. YouTube documents encoder streaming, but does not endorse a particular looping application; confirm that your chosen setup supports playlist playback and recovery if you need them.
- CAT class recordings and all included slides, music, clips, and other material cleared for rebroadcast on YouTube.
- A plan for whether the priority is one continuous viewer destination or more dependable individual YouTube replays.
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance covers channel verification and restrictions. Allow time for initial activation rather than scheduling a launch for the same day.
Prepare the class playlist
Put lessons in a deliberate order
Arrange recordings by subject, difficulty, or a study timetable—for example, quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, and data interpretation and logical reasoning—so a viewer who joins midstream can understand what is playing. Add a slate or on-screen schedule that identifies the current class and the next planned lesson. These are production choices, not YouTube requirements.
Check the files and sound
Play representative sections from every recording before using them in a continuous feed. Check that the picture is visible, the audio is intelligible and consistent between lessons, and transitions do not leave long silent or blank intervals. If you want a local backup, verify that your recording workflow is actually saving files and has enough disk space.

Clear rights before you go live
YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match may cause a placeholder to replace your stream, interrupt it, or terminate it. Rights to teach or distribute a class do not automatically establish rights to rebroadcast its recording, and permission for a recording may not cover music, slides, excerpts, or other embedded material.
Get permission for the class and each third-party component. If a licensor uses Content ID, ask it to allowlist your channel before launch: YouTube notes that a license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams. Neither a test stream nor an allowlisting request guarantees that a particular rights issue is resolved.
Connect an encoder to YouTube Live Control Room
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream. Set the event title, description, visibility, and chat options for your audience. Check that the selected event is the one you intend to use.
- Choose encoder streaming. In Live Control Room, use the encoder option and locate the stream URL and stream key. The exact controls can vary with YouTube’s interface.
- Enter the stream URL and key in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream. Do not publish it in a description, overlay, or public chat.
- Set the playlist and output format. Choose the prepared class sequence or loop, then configure the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, video and audio codecs, bitrate, and keyframe interval.
- Start the encoder and wait for YouTube’s preview. Check picture, sound, and stream health in Live Control Room before making the event public or telling viewers it is live.
- Verify the viewer-facing page and keep monitoring. Confirm the stream is viewable as intended, watch for health warnings or audio/video failures, and check local recording files if you are keeping backups.
YouTube explains the encoder connection and preview workflow in its Live Control Room setup guidance. Its encoder settings and bitrate recommendations are starting points, not a guarantee that a particular computer or internet connection can sustain the feed.

Choose settings your connection can sustain
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder ingestion and documents H.264, H.265, and AV1 video options, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; its guidance says not to exceed four seconds. The correct bitrate depends on the chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate as well as the reliable upload capacity available to the encoder.

Run an end-to-end test using a lesson with representative motion and audio, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. If the connection cannot reliably sustain the chosen output, reduce the output demands and test again instead of assuming a nominal speed will be available continuously.
Decide how viewers will get replays
A continuous 24/7 feed and a dependable archive are separate goals. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. It also says DVR pause and rewind can be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including streams beyond 12 hours. Keep a local recording if preserving the classes matters.

For a rotation, schedule each event to finish before it reaches 12 hours, then start the next session and confirm its preview. This improves the prospect of a YouTube replay; it does not guarantee one. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup in its streaming tips. Its DVR guidance explains the limitations on pausing and rewinding long streams.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation also describes an advanced design in which a 24/7 feed continues while a separate broadcast is started and completed on the same stream. Test and monitor the live feed
- Before launch, test the complete path from playlist playback through encoder ingestion to the YouTube viewer page.
- In Live Control Room, confirm the preview appears and check stream health before relying on the event.
- Listen for changes in loudness, missing audio, abrupt cuts, and long gaps between recordings.
- Check the public or intended-audience viewer page from a separate device or browser session.
- During the broadcast, monitor for encoder disconnections, YouTube health warnings, and playlist stalls; verify any local archive file afterwards.

Troubleshoot common problems
You cannot start a live stream
Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and the channel has no live-streaming restriction. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so wait for it to complete before diagnosing encoder settings.
YouTube shows no preview
Confirm that the encoder is sending to the stream URL for the selected event and that the stream key is correct. Check the encoder’s connection status, then allow time for the signal to appear in Live Control Room. If you have exposed the key publicly, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
The stream is unstable or has poor quality
Compare the selected bitrate and output format with YouTube’s guidance and the connection’s sustainable upload capacity. Test a lower-demand output if health warnings persist, and use the preview to identify whether the issue is video, audio, or connectivity. A recommended bitrate is not a promise that a particular connection can carry it.

The stream is interrupted for copyright
Review every recording and embedded asset, not just the class itself. Contact the relevant rights holder and request channel allowlisting if Content ID is involved. Do not assume a purchased or licensed recording automatically avoids live interruption.
The 24/7 event has no complete replay or usable rewind
This can be a consequence of the event exceeding YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance. Use shorter separate broadcasts if YouTube replays are important, and maintain a local recording as a separate backup. Long-stream DVR availability can also be limited.
