For a rotation of local videos, use a VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. Those settings repeat playback; they do not grant permission to stream the music or guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast. Clear the rights first, then plan for computer, network, OBS, and YouTube interruptions.
Choose the right OBS source
| Need | OBS source | What to set | Requirement or trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat one local video | Media Source | Choose the file and enable Loop. | Simple single-file playback. |
| Rotate multiple local videos | VLC Video | Add files to its playlist; enable Loop Playlist. Shuffle is also available. | VLC must be installed. OBS specifies that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. |
OBS documents common video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. Check the OBS Media Sources documentation for supported media-source behavior. VLC Video’s playlist is useful when the channel should move among files; OBS describes it as letting users create a playlist similar to an Image Slideshow.
Set up one local video in OBS
- Add the source: In the OBS Sources panel, select + > Media Source, name it if useful, and confirm.
- Select the recording: In the Media Source properties, enable Local File if shown, then browse to the Punjabi music video on your computer.
- Enable repetition: Check Loop. This restarts the selected file when playback reaches its end.
- Arrange the scene: Resize or fit the source within the canvas, and confirm that the video and its audio are present in the preview and audio mixer.
- Test playback: Start playback and let it reach the end once. Confirm it begins again before starting the YouTube broadcast.
Set up a playlist of local videos
- Install VLC first: Install the VLC version matching your OBS architecture. In particular, OBS’s guidance says 64-bit OBS needs 64-bit VLC.
- Add the source: In Sources, select + > VLC Video. If the option is missing, check that VLC is installed and its architecture matches OBS.
- Build the playlist: Open the source properties and add the local video files in the order you want them to play.
- Choose playback behavior: Enable Loop Playlist so playback starts again after the last item. OBS documents this option as enabled by default. Enable shuffle only if you want the playlist order randomized.
- Verify the cycle: Test that each item loads and that the playlist advances and loops as expected. Check audio levels between files as well as during playback.
These instructions concern local media files. Do not treat a YouTube playlist or somebody else’s YouTube stream as a cleared source for a new broadcast; technical access is not permission to rebroadcast it.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Prepare YouTube Live: In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and locate its stream key in the stream settings.
- Enter the key in OBS: Open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key. Treat the key as a password; do not share or publish it.
- Check the output: Confirm the intended scene is selected, the media is playing, and audio is reaching the mixer. Use a test or private setup where appropriate before making a public broadcast.
- Start the broadcast: Select Start Streaming in OBS, then verify in YouTube Studio that the incoming picture and sound are correct before relying on the stream.
OBS’s loop setting governs media playback, not the connection between OBS and YouTube. Keep an eye on the broadcast and have a way to restart it if the computer, OBS, network, or platform stops transmitting.

Clear music and video rights before going live
Punjabi music videos commonly combine a recording, composition, lyrics, and video; permission to possess or play a file is not necessarily permission to broadcast it continuously. YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the streamer; if the material remains, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. Copyright or Community Guidelines strikes can also terminate a stream. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
- Get permission for the actual use. Confirm that the permission covers the video and audio in a live YouTube stream, including the intended territory, duration, and any monetization if relevant.
- Ask about Content ID allowlisting. YouTube explains that even licensed third-party content can be interrupted if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the rights holder to allowlist the channel before going live; a license alone does not ensure uninterrupted playback.
- Check every component and license term. YouTube identifies permission, applicable copyright exceptions, public domain, and Creative Commons terms as possible bases for use, but none guarantees avoiding a claim or strike. Read the terms for the particular recording and video. See YouTube’s copyright overview.
- Do not rely on labels or attribution alone. YouTube describes safe music as public-domain music or music used with the copyright owner’s permission. Its suggestions include the YouTube Audio Library, original compositions, Creator Music in certain regions, and licensed third-party music. Check each license for live-stream use: a “free” label or credit in the description does not itself prevent a Content ID match. See YouTube’s safe-music tips.
YouTube’s live Content ID matching feature is described for eligible Content Manager partners with global rights and exclusive ownership of the live content; the documentation says streams cannot include third-party content such as background music. It is not a workaround for ordinary channels to rebroadcast commercial music videos. See YouTube’s live Content ID matching requirements.

What “24/7” requires in practice
Looping repeats a file or playlist; it does not keep a broadcast online by itself. The OBS media-source instructions explain playback behavior but do not promise uninterrupted operation for a computer, internet connection, OBS, or YouTube Live. A local OBS setup depends on the computer staying powered, OBS continuing to run, the network remaining available, and the YouTube broadcast staying connected. Plan to monitor the stream and recover from interruptions rather than interpreting a loop setting as an uptime guarantee.

If you want the channel to continue without leaving an OBS computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos as a 24/7 YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed.

Troubleshooting OBS loop playback
- VLC Video is missing: Install VLC, then confirm its architecture matches OBS; OBS specifically requires 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS.
- The file does not play: Check that the local file path is correct and the media format is supported by the OBS source. Re-select the file if it has moved.
- A single file stops at the end: Open Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled.
- A playlist stops after the last item: Open VLC Video properties and enable Loop Playlist.
- Picture plays but audio is absent or uneven: Inspect the source’s audio activity in the mixer, check the file itself, and test levels across all playlist items before going live.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream: Check YouTube Studio alerts and the rights status of the material. Contact the rights holder about permission and Content ID allowlisting; changing OBS loop settings does not resolve a rights match.
- The stream goes offline despite looping media: Check whether OBS is still streaming, whether the computer and network are available, and whether YouTube reports a connection or policy issue. A playback loop cannot repair an upstream or platform interruption.
