To loop a Hindi gaming commentary VOD as a YouTube Live broadcast, play the authorized video file in OBS and enable Loop on its Media Source. Then connect OBS to YouTube Live Control Room with the stream URL and key, check the preview, and start the broadcast. The loop happens in OBS—not through a native YouTube button for replaying an archived VOD as a live stream.
What you need before starting
- The local video file you want to broadcast, such as an MP4.
- OBS and a computer and internet connection capable of sending the video continuously for the time you plan to stream.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming available, and access to its Live Control Room.
- Rights or permission for the gameplay, recorded commentary, music, overlays, and other material in the file.
Hindi commentary does not change the file-loop setup: OBS and YouTube’s encoder instructions describe a language-neutral workflow. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish Hindi-specific metadata, language settings, or audience-discovery advice.
Loop a VOD through OBS and YouTube Live
- Check the content rights. Confirm that you may broadcast every included element. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and a stream may be interrupted or terminated when protected material is detected. If material is licensed, the rights owner may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license by itself may not prevent a live interruption. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- Make an OBS scene for the video. Add a Media Source, select the local VOD file, and enable Loop. OBS documents MP4 among the supported media formats and says Loop restarts the file when playback ends. See OBS Media Sources. OBS labels can vary between releases.
- Prepare the stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and create or prepare an encoder stream. Copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS’s streaming settings. The key allows the encoder to send its feed to your channel, so treat it like a credential and do not share it. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current Studio flow.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start streaming from OBS, then wait for the incoming video to appear in Live Control Room. For a scheduled-stream flow, use the available go-live control after checking the preview. YouTube describes an encoder as converting video to a digital format for streaming.
- Check the public stream. Confirm the watch page is accessible and that video and audio play as intended. YouTube recommends checking access on watch pages and mobile devices and monitoring audio and video quality; see its live streaming tips.
- End the broadcast deliberately. Use the controls in Live Control Room and stop sending from OBS according to the stream flow in Studio. Streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, according to YouTube’s encoder guidance. If a replay is your goal, account for that threshold when planning the broadcast.
Plan for a long loop
Test your own setup
This workflow does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, computer specification, or reliable 24/7 operating recipe. Test the actual file, audio, computer, and network before relying on a long broadcast. Check that the file loops cleanly, the commentary remains audible, and the Live Control Room preview stays healthy.
Understand replay and DVR limits
A completed live stream appearing on your channel as a replay is different from sending a VOD through an encoder while a live watch page is active. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume, but it may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. Copyright and monetization considerations
Gameplay rights depend on the publisher
YouTube says gaming monetization depends on the commercial-use rights in the game publisher’s license. Its guidance says gameplay may be eligible when commentary is step-by-step, tied to the live action, and provides instructional or educational value; extended gameplay alone may not be accepted. This is not a guarantee for any particular game, creator, or channel. Review YouTube’s video game and software content guidance.
Repeated VODs can raise channel-level monetization concerns
YouTube’s monetization policy identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as inauthentic content that is ineligible under that policy. Its reused-content guidance considers whether videos add significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. Repeating a VOD on a live loop may raise these concerns, but the policy does not say every loop is automatically demonetized. Evaluate the whole channel against the current YouTube channel monetization policies, which note an update dated 2025-07-15.

Common problems and what to check
- The video stops instead of restarting: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled for the selected file.
- Live Control Room shows no incoming picture: Check that OBS is sending to the stream URL and key for the intended YouTube stream. Verify that the encoder is active and wait for the preview before going live.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright match: Review the file for third-party material. If you have a license, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting; YouTube notes that a license alone may not prevent interruption.
- The archive or viewer rewind is unavailable: Check the broadcast duration. YouTube’s automatic archive applies to streams under 12 hours, and DVR may be limited or unavailable above 12 hours.
- The loop is technically live but may not qualify for monetization: Assess publisher permissions and whether the commentary adds meaningful original, instructional, or entertainment value; repeated material can also raise reused or inauthentic-content concerns.
