Before you set up the stream
Check whether your channel can go live
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. It also states that live streamers must be at least 16. Check your channel’s live-streaming access in YouTube Studio before preparing the broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Prepare gameplay and audio you have permission to use
Use recordings and audio you are authorized to stream. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material. A match may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the material continues, YouTube says the broadcast may be interrupted or terminated. If you have a license, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist where required. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
These steps do not establish the permissions for a particular GTA title, recording, or soundtrack. Check the applicable permissions for your specific gameplay footage and music; owning a game should not be treated as automatic permission to stream or monetize every element in it.

Set up a repeating GTA playlist in OBS
1. Install OBS and VLC
OBS’s VLC Video source is the documented option for a playlist of multiple local files. VLC must be installed for that source to appear. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. OBS documents the playlist controls in its Media Sources guide.
2. Add the gameplay videos to a scene
- Open OBS and create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, add a VLC Video source.
- Add the local GTA gameplay files you want in the playlist. Arrange the files in the intended playback order.
- Check the scene preview and size or position the video so it fits your stream layout.
For one video rather than a multi-file queue, use an OBS Media Source instead and enable its separate Loop control. OBS says that control is off by default for Media Source.

3. Confirm the loop behavior
In the VLC Video source properties, leave Loop Playlist enabled to replay the list after its last file. OBS says playlist looping is on by default; shuffle is off by default. Check these settings rather than assuming they were changed or preserved from an earlier setup.
4. Connect OBS to a YouTube Live event
In YouTube Studio, create or open the live event and use its encoder-streaming setup to connect OBS. Enter the stream key in OBS’s stream settings, keeping the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your event. YouTube lists encoders as a way to stream gameplay and overlays; its current account and event controls are documented in Get started with live streaming.

5. Test picture and sound before relying on the loop
Start with OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard, which considers available computer hardware and network conditions, then inspect the preview and test audio. Confirm that the video is visible, the game audio is audible at an appropriate level, and the playlist advances and loops as intended before you depend on it for a long broadcast. OBS’s Quick Start Guide covers source setup, audio checks, configuration, and testing.
What the local method requires
The computer running OBS must stay on, keep playing the local files, and remain connected to the internet while the encoder stream is running. A capture card is not inherently needed to play prerecorded files from the computer. OBS’s documentation does not establish a minimum hardware specification, so test an existing computer before buying equipment; the Auto-Configuration Wizard is a practical starting point, not a guarantee that every machine will sustain a long stream.

Troubleshoot common problems
- VLC Video is missing from Sources: install VLC. If OBS is 64-bit, OBS specifies 64-bit VLC for this source.
- The playlist stops after the final file: open the VLC Video source properties and check that Loop Playlist is enabled.
- A single video does not repeat: if you used Media Source, enable its separate Loop setting; it is off by default.
- There is no picture or sound in the test: check the OBS scene preview, source visibility, audio setup, and that the correct local files are in the source. Test before starting a broadcast you intend to leave running.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the live feed: investigate possible third-party content matches, including music, and resolve rights or allowlisting issues with the rights holder. YouTube may interrupt or terminate a stream when matched content remains.
- You cannot start a live event: check channel verification, any live-streaming restriction during the previous 90 days, and the stated minimum age requirement in YouTube Studio.
