This repeats the chosen playlist; Autoplay instead chooses a related video. If you want the playlist page to open at a set time or when you sign in, Windows Task Scheduler can launch a task, but that does not guarantee YouTube will begin playing or recover unattended.
Loop a saved playlist in YouTube
- Open the saved playlist in a desktop browser and confirm it is the list you want. A playlist link includes “playlist” and a playlist identifier in its URL.
- Start a video that belongs to that playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the player.
- Select Loop in the playlist box. YouTube documents this control as repeating the playlist.
The control applies to the selected playlist, not to a general stream of recommendations. If it is not visible, make sure a video from the playlist is playing and the playlist panel is expanded.
Choose the right YouTube control

Build a hand-picked rotation that survives closing the browser
- Create or edit a YouTube playlist and add the videos in the order you want.
- Open that saved playlist, start one of its videos, and enable Loop in the playlist panel.
- Check that the videos remain accessible to the account and viewers who need them. Private videos require sharing with the viewer, and access-restricted videos may not play for everyone.
Can Windows open the playlist on a schedule?
Windows Task Scheduler supports triggers such as a set time or user logon. That can be useful if the goal is to launch an app or task, but Microsoft’s scheduling documentation does not describe a YouTube integration. A scheduled browser launch alone does not ensure playback starts, bypass a browser prompt, or restore playback after a failure.
Before setting up a scheduled launch, check the Windows release and browser actually installed on the PC. Do not assume a particular browser or Windows version from the phrase “old PC.” Microsoft says Edge 109 was the last Edge release supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8.1; its current platform guidance also cautions that functionality can vary on older systems. That Edge-specific information does not establish compatibility for every browser.

Check the PC’s support status before leaving it online
Windows 10 version 22H2 reached end of standard support on October 14, 2025, according to Microsoft. A Windows 10 PC can continue to work after that date, but under standard support it no longer receives Microsoft security updates. Check the PC’s actual edition and whether it receives applicable security support before leaving it connected for long periods. The end of support does not mean the computer stops working.
Troubleshoot playlist rotation
- The playlist stops after one video: verify you selected Loop in the playlist box, rather than relying on Autoplay.
- The next session does not have the same sequence: if you used Queue, save those videos to a playlist; the desktop queue does not persist after the browser closes.
- A video will not play: check whether it is private or otherwise access-restricted, and whether it has been shared with the intended viewer.
- A scheduled launch does not start playback: Task Scheduler’s trigger only establishes when a task can run. A browser prompt, sleeping or powered-off PC, loss of network access, signed-out session, or other interruption can prevent playback.
- The browser is unsupported or behaves inconsistently: check the installed Windows and browser versions. Older operating systems can limit browser support or functionality.
