It depends on what you mean by a “YouTube Live playlist.” If you’re watching videos in a YouTube playlist, use YouTube’s Loop or Repeat control; it repeats the playlist, but YouTube does not say this removes the transition between videos or restarts a broadcast that is still live. If you’re creating a live broadcast from your own video files, OBS can loop one file or cycle a playlist, but its documentation does not guarantee gapless transitions. Test your actual files and setup before promising a seamless stream.
First, identify which playlist you mean
The phrase can describe two different tasks: watching videos or livestream replays grouped in a YouTube playlist, or broadcasting local video files as a live stream. The controls differ, and neither official procedure promises a zero-gap boundary between separate videos.

Loop a playlist while watching on YouTube
- Start a video that belongs to the playlist.
- On a computer or mobile device, expand the playlist and select Loop.
- On a TV or game console, open the playlist’s Repeat control and select the playlist repeat option.
YouTube documents this control as repeating playlist items. Its instructions do not establish that it can restart a livestream while that broadcast is still in progress, or that it removes the transition between distinct items. See YouTube’s playlist looping instructions.
Loop your own videos in an OBS live broadcast
Repeat one video file
- In OBS, add a Media Source and select the video file you want to broadcast.
- Enable the source’s Loop setting so the single file repeats.
- Preview the source and test the resulting broadcast with the actual file and encoder setup.
OBS documents looping a single Media Source, not a guarantee that the last frame and first frame join without delay, a black frame, or an audio discontinuity. The OBS Media Sources guide describes the source settings.

Cycle through multiple files
- Install VLC if it is not already installed; OBS requires it for the VLC Video source to appear.
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS and put the clips you want to play into its playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist. OBS describes this as restarting the source after it has run through its media files.
- Preview and test the exact playlist, files, and output before describing the transitions as seamless.
The VLC Video source and its playlist options are covered in the OBS Media Sources documentation and the OBS Sources Guide. Looping means that playback cycles; the documentation does not promise a literally gapless handoff between files.
What to check if you hear or see a gap
- A pause or black frame between clips: Looping establishes that playback repeats, not that file boundaries are seamless. Preview the transition between the specific clips in the output you intend to stream.
- A click, silence, or discontinuity in audio: Listen across the file boundary in the actual OBS output. The cited OBS documentation does not guarantee continuous audio between separate files.
- The VLC Video source is missing: Install VLC, then check OBS again; OBS requires VLC for that source to appear.
- A livestream does not restart when the playlist repeats: The YouTube playlist control repeats playlist items. It is not documented as a control for restarting a still-running broadcast.
