Yes. You can listen to Apple Podcasts on a Windows computer without an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or dedicated Apple Podcasts app for Windows. The simplest method is to open Apple Podcasts on the web at podcasts.apple.com in a current browser, find a show or episode, and select Play.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer
- An internet connection
- A current web browser, such as Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Firefox
- Speakers, wired headphones, Bluetooth headphones, or another audio output device
You do not need to install an Apple utility or buy an Apple device just to play publicly available podcast episodes in a browser. A current browser is important because older versions may not support every feature used by modern websites. Microsoft specifically warns that outdated browsers may not work correctly with some sites.
How to listen to Apple Podcasts on Windows
- Open a current browser. Start Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or another up-to-date, standards-compliant browser on your Windows computer.
- Go to Apple Podcasts. Enter
podcasts.apple.comin the address bar and press Enter. - Search for a podcast. Use the search option to look for a show, subject, or particular episode. You can also browse areas such as Home, New, Top Charts, and podcast categories.
- Open the show or episode. Select a result to open its show page or the individual episode page.
- Start playback. Select the Play control. The audio should come through the output device currently selected in Windows.
- Sign in if Apple asks you to. Some content and account features require authentication. Sign-in can also enable features such as following shows, saving episodes, and receiving updates.
How to find a specific show or episode
Searching is usually faster than browsing. Enter the podcast’s name, the presenter’s name, a topic, or keywords from an episode title. Check the show artwork and description before opening a result, since several programs can have similar names.

If you are looking for something new, browse New, Top Charts, or the available categories. Opening the show page normally gives you access to its episode list, while selecting an individual episode takes you directly to its description and playback control.
Do you need an Apple ID?
Not necessarily. Basic discovery and playback of publicly available episodes can be separate from account features. However, Apple may require you to sign in for particular content or actions. For example, the web player can ask users to authenticate before playing explicit episodes.
Signing in is also relevant if you want to follow shows, save episodes, or receive updates. If an episode will not play while other episodes do, check whether it is marked explicit, subscriber-only, or otherwise restricted before assuming that Windows is the problem.
Can you listen to Apple Podcasts subscriptions on Windows?
Apple supports listening to Apple Podcasts subscriptions on the web, but subscription availability and features can vary by country or region. Premium access may require an existing eligible subscription or a supported Apple purchase and connection process.

Do not assume that every premium episode can be purchased directly from a Windows browser. If a show requires payment or subscriber authentication, follow the instructions Apple displays for your account and location. Once the subscription is eligible and connected, the subscriber content may be available through the web player.
Why an episode may not play in your browser
Apple Podcasts availability is not identical everywhere. Apple’s web player may indicate that an episode cannot be played on the web in your country or region. Distribution rights, explicit-content rules, and subscription requirements can all affect playback.
- Region restriction: The episode may not be licensed for web playback where you live.
- Sign-in requirement: Apple may require authentication, particularly for some explicit or account-linked content.
- Subscriber-only content: The episode may be part of a paid Apple Podcasts subscription.
- Browser problem: An outdated browser or damaged page session may prevent the player from working correctly.
- Temporary service or network problem: A slow or interrupted internet connection can stop streaming.
Choosing where the sound comes from
Apple Podcasts uses the audio output selected by Windows. You can listen through the computer’s built-in speakers, wired headphones, Bluetooth headphones, a USB headset, or connected desktop speakers.
If you have more than one device connected, select the speaker or headset you want Windows to use. In Windows, select the speaker icon on the taskbar and choose the intended output device. The exact controls can vary slightly by Windows version and device manufacturer.

Optional: use headphones for private listening
Headphones are not required, but they can make sense if you are listening in a shared room, want to avoid disturbing others, or prefer a more direct audio connection. You can compare headphones for listening on a computer, including wired and Bluetooth models described for laptop or desktop use.
Before buying, check whether your Windows computer supports the connection you want. Bluetooth headphones need to be paired and selected as the Windows output device; wired headphones may use a 3.5-millimeter audio jack or USB, depending on the computer and headset. Product availability and compatibility can change, so verify the current listing and connection requirements.
Apple Podcasts on Windows: browser limitations
The browser is the supported route covered here, but it should not automatically be treated as identical to a native Apple-device app. Apple’s web documentation confirms listening through the web, but you should not assume that the browser provides the same download, offline-playback, or library-management behavior as a native app.
If you expect to listen without an internet connection, verify the current options shown for your account and region instead of assuming that every web episode can be downloaded for offline use.

Troubleshooting Apple Podcasts on a Windows computer
The Apple Podcasts page will not load correctly
- Update Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or the browser you are using.
- Close and reopen the browser, then visit
podcasts.apple.comagain. - Try the site in another current browser to determine whether the problem is browser-specific.
- Check that your internet connection is working on other websites.
An outdated browser is a particularly likely cause when other websites work but the player layout or controls do not.

- Your hand can relax in comfort hour after hour with this ergonomically designed mouse. Its contoured shape with soft rubber grips, gently curved sides and broad palm area give you the support you need for effortless control all day long.
- You’ve got the control to do more, faster. Flipping through photo albums and Web pages is a breeze, especially for right-handers—with three standard buttons plus Back/Forward buttons that you can also program to switch applications, go full screen and more. And side-to-side scrolling plus zoom gives you the power to scroll horizontally and vertically through your music library, maps and Facebook feeds, and zoom in and out of photos and budget spreadsheets with a click.* * Requires Logitech SetPoint software (Windows) or Logitech Control Center software (Mac OS X)
- Two years of battery life practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. ** The On/Off switch helps conserve power, smart sleep mode extends battery life and an indicator light eliminates surprises. ** Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.
- The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There’s no need to unplug it when you move around, so there’s less worry of it being lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.
The Play button does nothing
- Check whether Apple says the episode is unavailable in your country or region.
- Look for a sign-in prompt and authenticate if appropriate.
- Check whether the episode is subscriber-only.
- Refresh the page and try another episode from the same show.
- Try a current alternative browser.
If other episodes play normally, the problem is more likely to be related to that episode’s availability or access requirements than to your Windows computer.
There is no sound
- Select the speaker icon on the Windows taskbar.
- Raise the system volume and make sure mute is not enabled.
- Confirm that Windows is using the intended speakers, headphones, or headset.
- Check the volume controls on the headphones or speakers themselves.
- Try the computer’s built-in speakers or a wired connection to isolate a Bluetooth or device-selection problem.
Bluetooth headphones are connected but silent
Confirm that the headphones are paired, powered on, and selected as the active Windows output. If they appear connected but Apple Podcasts is silent, switch temporarily to the computer’s built-in speakers or a wired headset. This helps identify whether the issue is with the browser playback or the Bluetooth audio connection.
The episode keeps buffering
Streaming requires an active internet connection. Pause other high-bandwidth activity, move to a more reliable connection if possible, and reload the episode. If only one episode is affected, check its access and regional status; if every episode buffers, investigate the network or browser first.

- A Mac
- An Apple Watch or HomePod
