It depends on what you mean by “end screen.” If it is a YouTube overlay on a video or stream archive you control, remove it in YouTube Studio. If it appears between clips in a continuous live broadcast, edit the clips before they enter the live feed: YouTube’s documented loop setting repeats a video or playlist in an embedded player, not a live broadcast. If you are watching someone else’s video, use Hide to dismiss the end screen for that video.
First identify which end screen you are seeing
The fix depends on who controls the screen and where it exists. A YouTube overlay is different from an outro that is part of the footage itself.
| What you see | Where it comes from | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Recommendations, subscribe prompts, or other elements over the end of a video | YouTube end-screen elements added by the channel owner | Delete or retime them in YouTube Studio if you control the video. YouTube’s end-screen instructions |
| A branded card, credits, or blank interval visible in the footage | The video pixels themselves, often called an outro or end card | Edit or trim the source clip before using it in a loop. For an eligible uploaded video or archive, check whether Studio offers trimming. YouTube’s trim instructions |
| An end screen between clips in a continuous live broadcast | The feed being sent to YouTube contains those clip endings, or YouTube elements appear on an archive | For the live feed, clean up the clips before sending them. For an archive you own, check whether its Studio editor exposes end-screen controls. |
| An end screen while watching an embedded video or playlist on a page | The embedded player’s playback of a video or playlist | The player’s loop parameter repeats a video or playlist; it is not a documented switch for suppressing end screens in a separate live broadcast. Google’s player parameters |
YouTube’s end-screen elements can appear during the last 5–20 seconds of an eligible video, which must be at least 25 seconds long. The timing can be changed, or the elements can be removed. Those settings apply to content you control; they do not edit the pixels of an outro.
Remove YouTube end-screen elements from a video you control
- Open YouTube Studio and select Content.
- Select the video or archive you want to change.
- Open Editor, then End screen.
- Use the delete control beside each unwanted element. If you want to keep an element but show it for less time, adjust its timing instead.
- Select Save, then review the video in the context where you noticed the issue. Display can vary by device or playback context, so confirm the result rather than relying only on the editor preview.
These controls are for creator-added YouTube elements. They will not remove an outro that is part of the video footage.

Stop outros from appearing between clips in a live loop
A continuous live broadcast assembled from prerecorded clips is an encoder-sent feed. YouTube documents player looping for an embedded video or playlist, but does not document a global setting that removes end screens between clips in a creator’s live broadcast. The practical production fix is to prepare the clips without unwanted end cards or outros before they enter the playlist or sequence being sent to YouTube. YouTube’s live-stream guidance
Check the transitions as well as the clips themselves: if an unwanted ending is included in the source footage, it will be sent as part of the feed. Trimming or replacing that source segment is different from deleting a YouTube overlay in Studio.

Check an archived live stream
YouTube automatically archives many streams shorter than 12 hours, but warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. The archive guidance does not promise that every live archive has an end-screen editor, so open the specific archive in Studio and check its available controls. YouTube’s archive guidance
If the archive has creator-added end-screen elements, use the Studio end-screen controls if they are available. If it has a baked-in outro, check whether the video is eligible for trimming in Studio. YouTube’s trim guidance says that, as of June 2025, saved Studio Editor changes could not be undone using “Revert to original.” Review the edit carefully and keep a local copy of the source before saving. Hide an end screen while watching
If you are a viewer rather than the channel owner, use YouTube’s Hide control when it is available. It dismisses the end screen for the current video, not permanently for every video. YouTube Creator Liaison Rene Ritchie put the limitation this way: “Hide only dismisses the end screen for that video, that time – not all videos, all the time.” YouTube’s announcement
What will not fix it
- Changing an embed loop setting: The documented
loopparameter repeats a video or playlist in the embedded player; it is not a documented control for end screens in a separate live broadcast. Player parameters - Changing DVR: DVR controls pausing and seeking during a live stream. It does not hide end screens. YouTube DVR help
- Deleting a Studio overlay when the outro is in the footage: The editor’s end-screen controls manage YouTube elements, not visual content already encoded into the clip. Edit or trim the footage instead.
Troubleshooting
- The end screen still appears after you saved: Check whether it is actually a branded outro in the footage rather than a YouTube overlay. Also review the video in the same device or playback context where you noticed it.
- There is no End screen option on the archive: YouTube does not guarantee that every live archive exposes that editor. Check the specific archive’s available Studio tools; if the unwanted ending is in the footage, use a source edit or see whether Studio offers trimming.
- The Hide control is missing or the screen returns on another video: Hide is a per-video, per-viewing workaround, not a permanent viewer-wide preference.
- The problem occurs only between clips in a live loop: Inspect the source clips and the sequence sent by the encoder. Remove or shorten unwanted outros before they enter the feed; a player loop setting does not change the broadcast feed.
