First check YouTube’s Sleep Timer: it pauses the video after the duration you select. If the timer is off, find out whether the rain recording ended, autoplay failed to start another video, or your phone restricted YouTube in the background. Those causes need different fixes; there is no single setting that guarantees every YouTube rain video will play all night.
Find out when playback stops
Note whether playback ends after a predictable interval, at the end of the video, or when the screen locks or YouTube moves into the background. This timing helps narrow down the cause, but it does not by itself prove what caused the interruption.
- After a chosen interval: check whether Sleep Timer is set.
- At the video’s endpoint: the recording may simply be over. Autoplay may start another video, but it does not extend the current recording.
- When the screen locks or the app is backgrounded: check the phone’s battery and background-activity settings.
A recording and a livestream are not interchangeable: a recording has an endpoint, while the continuity and runtime of a particular livestream depend on that stream. Check the source’s details and behavior rather than assuming it will stay available all night.
Check YouTube’s Sleep Timer
YouTube’s Sleep Timer pauses the current video after the selected duration. On a computer, open the player’s Settings → Sleep Timer, then choose a duration. If a timer is already running, YouTube’s Help guidance says you can adjust it. Check the timer in the player you are actually using; availability and labels may vary across app and device versions.

If the rain video reaches its end
Choose a recording whose stated length covers the hours you need, or make a playlist if you want videos to follow one another. Check that Autoplay is enabled if you expect YouTube to start the next item. Autoplay controls what happens after the current video ends; it does not keep that video playing past its endpoint, and a next video is not guaranteed to be the same kind of rain audio.
If playback stops when your phone sleeps
Check whether Battery Saver is on, then consult the instructions for your specific phone for YouTube’s background-usage or battery settings. Android’s battery controls vary by device and version; Pixel guidance, for example, documents app background usage and screen timeout settings, but those exact menus should not be assumed on other Android phones. Changing background restrictions may affect battery use, so do not disable them indiscriminately.

If you use a browser rather than the YouTube app, check the browser and device behavior too. The available guidance does not establish one universal setting that prevents every browser or app from stopping during the night.

If you want rain audio without choosing another video yourself, you can try a continuing source, but do not assume a particular livestream will stay online for a specific number of hours. If you want a rain recording you own or have permission to use to play as a livestream on your own YouTube channel, a cloud service is a separate option; it does not repair playback on the device you are watching from.

If it still stops: what to check next
- It stops at roughly the same elapsed time: inspect Sleep Timer and note its selected duration.
- It stops at the end of one video: check the recording length and whether Autoplay is enabled; neither changes the source recording’s runtime.
- It stops as the screen locks or the app goes into the background: check Battery Saver and the phone maker’s guidance for YouTube background activity.
- It stops at different times or none of those checks explains it: note the device model, operating-system version, YouTube app or browser, whether the source is a recording or livestream, and exactly when playback ends. Those details are needed for reliable device-specific troubleshooting.
