If you mean watching a YouTube playlist, turn on Loop in the playlist controls. If you mean keeping your channel’s live broadcast running after its current podcast episodes finish, the viewer’s Loop button will not do that: your encoder must keep sending audio and video. Loop the media in your streaming setup, schedule a prerecorded playlist with a cloud service, or use StreamNeo to run uploaded videos from the cloud.
First, identify which kind of loop you need
YouTube has two different things that can look like a playlist loop:
- Viewer playback: You want episodes to repeat while you watch. Use the playlist’s Loop control. YouTube documents separate playlist controls for computers and mobile devices, and for TVs and game consoles: YouTube Help: loop videos or playlists.
- A creator’s live broadcast: You want your channel’s live stream to continue showing podcast episodes. The viewer-side Loop control does not send anything to your broadcast. An encoder or hosted streaming service must continue delivering the audio-video feed.
Why a YouTube live stream stops when its source runs out
A scheduled or started live broadcast is not itself a video source. YouTube’s live-streaming instructions say, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” In other words, the broadcast needs an active feed from streaming software, a hardware encoder, or a cloud streaming service. If the playlist ends and the encoder sends no more content, the live stream can end too. See YouTube Help: encoder live streaming.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes a liveStream, which contains the settings for transmitting audio and video, from a liveBroadcast, the broadcast resource: YouTube Live Streaming API documentation. Starting the broadcast page therefore does not replace the need for a continuing media feed.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose how to keep the podcast feed going
Option 1: Run the loop on your own computer
Use this route if you want to control the playback and encoder locally. Create or schedule the YouTube live broadcast, then connect streaming software or a compatible hardware encoder with the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube’s live setup. Configure the media source to keep supplying valid video and audio after the last episode, and make sure the encoder can send that feed to YouTube. YouTube’s guide covers the encoder connection and stream-key workflow: YouTube encoder instructions.
The key requirement is not a particular playlist button: it is a source-and-encoder combination that continues outputting media. The sources here do not establish a specific OBS playlist configuration that will loop podcast episodes unattended, so confirm the current instructions for the software or device you choose rather than assuming a playlist will repeat automatically. YouTube describes its live media as playlists and segments that make up a continuous decodable stream in its HLS ingestion guide.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
A local setup also depends on the computer or encoder, power, and internet connection staying available. A dropped connection or stopped playback can interrupt the feed; unattended recovery depends on the particular software or device and should be checked before relying on it.
Option 2: Schedule prerecorded episodes through a cloud service
A cloud playlist service can host the playback and send it to YouTube without requiring your laptop to keep running. For example, Restream’s help page describes assembling existing videos into a playlist, ordering them, and scheduling the stream; it says streaming can proceed even if the laptop is unplugged. That is the provider’s description, not an independent reliability test. Check its current plan limits, YouTube availability, and account requirements before choosing it.

What to know about long-running broadcasts
Continuous content delivery and the lifetime of a single YouTube broadcast are separate issues. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that statement does not establish that a single broadcast can remain open indefinitely. Plan the broadcast schedule and archive needs separately from the looping media source. See YouTube’s encoder live-streaming guidance.
For a long-running channel, do not treat an old community forum description of an inactivity timeout as current, universal YouTube policy. The reliable practical rule is to maintain a valid encoder feed and verify current YouTube behavior for your broadcast setup.

Podcast and channel checks before going live
- Confirm the source continues past the last episode. Test the media playlist and encoder together; do not rely on the viewer’s YouTube Loop control to feed the broadcast.
- Check the stream key and destination. Use the stream URL and key for the intended YouTube channel and broadcast, and keep the key private.
- Verify unattended operation. For a local system, account for playback, encoder, power, and network. For a hosted service, check current plan limits and YouTube support.
- Review rights for every episode and asset. Make sure you have permission to stream podcast recordings, music, clips, artwork, and other material. Replaying content does not remove copyright obligations.
- Plan for interruption and archiving. Understand how the chosen encoder or service resumes after a feed interruption, and decide whether you need a broadcast to end or be archived on a schedule.
Troubleshooting when the stream stops at the playlist’s end
- The live stream ends as soon as the final episode finishes: The encoder has no further media to send. Set up a source that continues looping, or schedule a playlist through a cloud service.
- The YouTube playlist repeats for you, but not on the live channel: That is viewer playback looping, not a broadcast feed. Configure looping in the encoder workflow or use a service that sends the prerecorded playlist to YouTube.
- The stream is set up but no content appears: Check that the encoder is connected to the intended stream URL and key and that it is actively sending valid audio and video. A broadcast resource alone is not the feed.
- A local stream stops while unattended: Check media playback, the encoder process, device power, and the internet connection. Whether it reconnects automatically depends on the software or hardware configuration.
- You expect one broadcast to stay open forever: Do not infer that from the under-12-hour archive rule. Schedule around the platform’s stated archive behavior and the needs of your channel.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload the podcast recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at any quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
