Check whether your channel can go live

Prepare the playlist and confirm rights
Use video and audio that you own or are licensed to rebroadcast on YouTube. A devotional, religious, or traditional subject does not by itself establish permission to use a particular recording. Confirm the rights for every song, performance, image, and video in the playlist; possessing a copy or finding it online is not proof that you may retransmit it.
Do not treat a list of YouTube watch-page URLs as an encoder-ready playlist. The documented workflow here is to send an encoder feed to YouTube. Use media files and playlist software that your selected server setup supports, and check that software’s documentation for supported formats, looping behavior, and storage needs.

Enable and create the YouTube broadcast
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and set up a stream. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Choose the broadcast settings you need, then locate the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the stream’s encoder settings.
- Configure your server-side encoder to send the playlist feed to that URL with the stream key. Treat the key as a credential: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your broadcast. Store it securely, do not publish it in scripts or logs accessible to others, and reset it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before announcing the broadcast to viewers.

Choose an encoder format and sustainable settings
Set the encoder to a format YouTube accepts and a bitrate the server can sustain continuously. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 as supported ingestion video codecs, and AAC and MP3 as supported audio codecs. For RTMP-based ingestion, YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the feed to Google’s servers. Use constant bitrate (CBR) and set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Check its encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guide for the current recommendations for your chosen codec and output.

Test with representative video motion and audio, not only a static screen. A setting that works for a brief test can still fail over a long run if the server’s outgoing connection is inconsistent or the encoder process stops. YouTube recommends testing the connection and monitoring stream health.
Plan for continuous playback, restarts, and archives
YouTube’s API documentation describes a channel with a 24/7 live feed and distinguishes the broadcast viewers see from the stream resource carrying the encoder input. On your server, verify that the playlist software loops the intended files in the intended order, that media remain accessible, and that the encoder process is supervised. Arrange monitoring and a restart or alert path for failures. The precise service manager, playlist configuration, alerting method, storage size, and server capacity depend on the software and hosting provider you choose; the YouTube sources cited here do not prescribe or validate a particular setup.
Plan archive handling separately from continuous playback. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that one uninterrupted archive will be available for a longer-running feed: verify current archive behavior and decide how you will handle any needed recording or segmentation. If a stream disconnects or you restart the encoder, check the Live Control Room and broadcast state before relying on the feed to resume as intended.

Monitor the live feed after launch
- Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages after startup and periodically during operation.
- Watch for encoder exits, stalled playback, missing media, and network interruptions on the server; configure process supervision and alerting appropriate to your software.
- After any restart, confirm that the encoder is sending to the intended broadcast and that video and audio are present.
- Keep a recovery plan for a lost stream key, server outage, or playlist error. YouTube’s documentation does not guarantee that a cloud server or broadcast will remain uninterrupted.

Can I use any Hindi devotional song or video in the playlist?
