Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can’t permanently delete a movie or TV-show purchase from your Apple Account purchase history using Apple TV controls. You can hide the title from your Library with the Apple TV app on a Mac or Windows PC, or remove its downloaded copy from a device. Those actions do not erase the transaction.
Choose the right action
| Your goal | What to do | What remains |
|---|---|---|
| Remove a purchased title from the visible Library | Hide it using Delete from Library | The purchase record remains in purchase history. |
| Remove an offline copy from a device | Delete the download on that device | The purchase remains associated with your Apple Account and may be downloaded again. |
| Reverse an unwanted charge | Request a refund from Apple | Apple decides whether the transaction qualifies. |
| Investigate a charge you don’t recognize | Check accounts and family purchases, then follow Apple’s billing and account-security guidance | Hiding a title does not address the charge. |
Apple’s instructions for hiding purchased media remove a movie or show from the Library; they do not erase the underlying transaction. “Delete from Library” is Apple’s label for hiding the purchase, not deleting its billing record.
Hide a purchased movie or TV show
Apple documents this workflow in the Apple TV app on a Mac or Windows PC. Menu wording may vary slightly by app version.
- Open the Apple TV app on your Mac or Windows PC.
- Open Library and find the purchased movie or show.
- Move the pointer over the title, then click its More button.
- Choose Delete from Library and complete the on-screen prompt to hide it.
The item should stop appearing in the Library on devices using that Apple Account. This documented computer workflow is distinct from the menus on Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD; Apple does not direct users to the streaming box for this hide action.

Remove a downloaded copy without hiding the purchase
Delete a download when you need storage space or want to remove an offline copy from a particular device. On iPhone, Apple’s Apple TV app instructions are:
- Open the Apple TV app.
- Tap Library, then Downloaded.
- Swipe left on the title and tap Delete.
This removes the local copy, not the purchase from iCloud or your account history. The title may remain visible in the Library and can be downloaded again, subject to account, regional, and licensing availability. Other devices have their own downloads, which you may need to remove separately.

Check purchase history
Purchase history confirms whether the transaction remains recorded; it is separate from the Apple TV Library. Apple’s purchase-history guide includes these computer paths:
On Mac
- Open the App Store and click your name.
- Open Account Settings and sign in if asked.
- In Purchase History, click See All.
On Windows PC
- Open Apple Music or Apple TV, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then choose View My Account.
- Scroll to Purchase History, then click See All beside Most Recent Purchase.
- Change the date filter if the transaction is older than the displayed period.
On iPhone or iPad, look for purchase history in the Apple Account area of Settings; exact labels can differ by OS version. If a purchase is missing, check any other Apple Account that might have been used. History screens can take a moment to load, and available filters vary by platform.

What hiding means for Family Sharing
Family Sharing members generally won’t see a hidden movie or show among shared purchases. Hiding is not a remote wipe: a family member who downloaded the title before it was hidden may still have a copy on that device. Remove that download on the device itself if you need the local file gone. Shared-purchase visibility also depends on Family Sharing settings, and some subscriptions, in-app purchases, and other content are not shareable. See Apple’s guidance on finding family-shared apps and content.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If the title or charge still appears
- Check the account: Make sure the Apple TV app is signed in to the Apple Account that bought the title. If you have more than one account, check the others in purchase history.
- Refresh the Library: Close and reopen the app. If it still does not update, sign out and back in.
- Look for a local download: A hidden title may remain as a downloaded copy on your device or a family member’s device. Delete that copy separately.
- Check what kind of item it is: A rental or subscription entitlement is not the same as a purchased movie or show and may appear in a different part of the app.
- For an accidental purchase: Submit a refund request through Apple’s official process. Hiding the title does not reverse a charge, and refund eligibility is determined by Apple.
- For an unfamiliar charge: Ask family members whether they made the purchase, check for grouped Apple billing, and review Apple’s purchase-history and account-security guidance. Change your Apple Account password if you suspect someone else has access.
Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD can show or redownload purchased apps through the App Store, but that is separate from hiding movies and shows; Apple’s app-redownload instructions are not a way to erase media purchase history. Purchased digital media is generally accessible again, but availability can depend on licensing and region, as Apple explains in its media-purchase guidance.
