Build a clear, affordable offer
Start with a small set of products
Choose merchandise that fits your channel and gives viewers a straightforward choice. In Streamlabs’ store setup, creators select products, upload designs, add names and prices, choose variants and images, then publish listings. A clear listing should make the product, price, and available options easy to understand.
Streamlabs says designing and selling through its store is free; creators choose the merchandise and prices, while Streamlabs handles printing and shipping. Check the current product range, fulfillment terms, and fees in your account before publishing, since availability and terms can change. Set a price that leaves room for profit
Each item has a minimum retail price. Streamlabs’ official setup guide puts it plainly: “Every item has a minimum retail price → selling at minimum = no profit.” The guide says the creator’s profit is the amount above that minimum, minus PayPal fees. In simple terms: creator profit = your retail price − minimum retail price − PayPal fees. Confirm the displayed minimum and applicable fees for the product and transaction before setting your price.

Consider what your viewers may reasonably pay, and compare similar products and designs rather than assuming the highest price is best. Streamlabs suggests pairing accessible options with limited-edition, higher-priced items for particularly engaged fans. That is platform advice, not evidence that a particular product mix or price will perform best. An item priced at its minimum may still suit a launch or audience-access goal, but it will not generate profit under the guide’s stated calculation.
Make the storefront feel like your channel
Streamlabs documents storefront controls for typography, colors, banners, and themes. Creators choose product imagery and variants; its setup guide describes custom product images as an Ultra feature. These controls can make the shop more coherent and listings clearer, but Streamlabs’ cited material does not establish a conversion gain from customization. Before upgrading to Ultra, compare its current subscription cost and any product savings with your expected sales; the sources do not provide a break-even calculation or establish that Ultra will increase your net profit.
Put the shop where viewers can find it
Link it from your audience touchpoints
Streamlabs recommends linking the shop—or a specific product—from your Twitch and YouTube pages, social profiles, and other places your audience already visits. A direct link reduces the steps between hearing about an item and viewing its listing. Use a short, accurate label such as “Shop” or “Channel merch” so viewers know where the link leads.

Offer a chat command, but avoid nagging
Streamlabs documents a Cloudbot !merch command that viewers can use to request a store link in chat, as well as timers that can post reminders. If you use a timer, choose an interval that does not overwhelm conversation; Streamlabs’ discoverability guidance cautions against spamming viewers. Connect the YouTube Merch Shelf only if eligible
Streamlabs documents an integration for eligible creators to connect a store to YouTube’s Merch Shelf and manage items through Streamlabs’ YouTube tab. Eligibility involves channel monetization, supported country, channel type and subscriber count, made-for-kids settings, policy compliance, and strikes. These requirements can change, so check Streamlabs’ YouTube Merch Shelf integration guide and the current YouTube requirements before relying on the feature. Do not assume every channel qualifies.

Give viewers a reason to look—and test reminders
Streamlabs suggests talking about products during streams or in videos, announcing a launch, wearing merch on camera, refreshing designs, and trying giveaways or design contests. These can give viewers a reason to notice the store, but they are ideas to test, not proven sales drivers. Choose a few that fit your content and audience instead of using every tactic at once.
- Make one change at a time. For example, announce a new design in a video, or add a product link to a profile. Avoid changing the product, price, and promotion simultaneously if you want to understand which change may have mattered.
- Set a comparison period. Record the dates, the promotion used, and the product or link involved. Compare a defined period before and after the change where you have comparable data.
- Track clicks and purchases. Use the reporting available to you to see whether viewers reached the listing and whether orders followed. If you cannot connect a purchase to a particular post or reminder, do not attribute the sale to it.
- Keep, revise, or stop the experiment. Repeat tactics that seem useful for your audience, adjust unclear listings or inconvenient links, and stop reminders that irritate viewers. A small number of purchases is not enough to prove a general rule.
Streamlabs’ guides provide promotional suggestions but no sales experiment, conversion rate, or measured revenue change attributable to them. Your own results—not an assumed percentage increase—are the appropriate basis for deciding what to repeat.

Common pitfalls to avoid
- Pricing at the minimum while expecting a margin: Streamlabs says selling at minimum yields no profit; account for PayPal fees when setting a price above it.
- Making the store hard to reach: Put a direct shop or product link in audience-facing profiles and use a chat command if it suits your stream.
- Overusing reminders: A timer can surface a link, but repeated interruptions may annoy viewers. Keep reminders limited and relevant.
- Assuming platform placement is automatic: Twitch extension and YouTube Merch Shelf placement involve setup, and the YouTube option has eligibility requirements.
- Buying an upgrade based on presumed ROI: Check current Ultra costs and benefits against your own likely sales; the cited guides do not establish that it pays for itself.
- Calling a tactic proven: Launches, giveaways, limited editions, and design refreshes are suggestions to evaluate, not guaranteed ways to increase sales.
