Netflix error UI3012 usually means your computer cannot reach Netflix correctly through its current network. Netflix associates it with “Whoops, something went wrong…,” “Unexpected Error,” or “There was an unexpected error. Please reload the page.” It is generally a connectivity or configuration problem—not a payment, password, subscription, or account-blocking error. Follow the checks below in order, testing Netflix after each major change.
Netflix’s UI3012 guidance is the primary reference for this error.
Quickest fixes for UI3012
- Reload the Netflix page once.
- Open another website and try another internet-connected app.
- Test Netflix on another device using the same network.
- Restart the computer completely.
- Restart the modem and router, leaving them unplugged for 30 seconds.
- Run Fast.com on the affected computer.
- Temporarily disable VPN, proxy, custom DNS, filtering, or similar connection tools.
- Try an updated, supported browser or a private window.
If Netflix fails on several devices, or Fast.com will not load, the router, network policy, or internet service provider is more likely to be involved.
What UI3012 means
Netflix says UI3012 typically indicates that a computer cannot connect to the Netflix service over its current network. The code does not identify one exact fault: weak Wi-Fi, a router or ISP problem, public-network restrictions, VPN or proxy routing, custom DNS, browser settings, and computer security software can all produce similar symptoms.

Diagnose the scope before changing settings
Netflix works on another device on the same network
Concentrate on the affected computer: its browser version, extensions, cookies, VPN or proxy, DNS, firewall, and other security software. Try the browser and computer-specific steps below before changing the router.
Netflix fails on every device on the network
Suspect the modem, router, ISP, network-level VPN or DNS, insufficient connection, or a restriction on the network. Restart the network, run Fast.com, and contact the ISP if the problem remains.
Other websites also fail
Resolve the general internet connection first. UI3012 is then a symptom of the wider outage or disconnection rather than a Netflix-only browser problem.
Only one browser fails
Update that browser, test a private window, disable extensions, and clear Netflix site data. A second supported browser is a useful comparison.

All browsers fail, but other devices work
Check the computer’s operating-system network settings, firewall or security suite, VPN client, proxy configuration, and DNS settings.
Step-by-step fixes
1. Reload Netflix
Select the browser’s reload button. If UI3012 returns, continue rather than repeatedly refreshing.
2. Check the connection and Fast.com
Open another site, try another app, and then open https://fast.com/. Netflix operates Fast.com and recommends it for testing the connection to Netflix. Its published guidance recommends at least 3 Mbps for HD/720p, 5 Mbps for Full HD/1080p, and 15 Mbps for Ultra HD/4K (Netflix speed requirements). These are practical thresholds, not guarantees: adequate speed does not rule out DNS, routing, filtering, authentication, packet loss, or VPN problems.
3. Restart the computer
Shut the computer down fully, leave it off for at least 10 seconds, start it again, and retry Netflix. Closing the browser or putting the computer to sleep is not the same reset. See Netflix’s computer troubleshooting guidance.

4. Restart the modem and router
- Turn off the computer.
- Unplug the modem and, if separate, the wireless router.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug in the modem and wait for its normal indicator lights.
- Plug in the separate router and wait for its lights to return to normal.
- Turn on the computer and test Netflix.
This is a power restart, not a factory reset. Do not press the factory-reset button: it can erase Wi-Fi names, passwords, and ISP configuration.
5. Improve or isolate Wi-Fi
- Move the computer and router closer together, ideally into the same room.
- Keep the router in an open position, off the floor, such as on a desk or shelf.
- Move it away from other wireless devices and appliances.
- If possible, connect the computer to the router with Ethernet.
If Netflix works over Ethernet but not Wi-Fi, the likely area is wireless signal quality, interference, congestion, or router configuration—not the Netflix account. Ethernet is an isolation test, not a guaranteed cure.
6. Restore connection settings temporarily
Turn off a VPN or proxy and retry. If DNS was manually changed, temporarily return the computer or router to automatic/default DNS. Also check managed-network filters, parental controls, ad blockers, and enterprise security products. Re-enable changes one at a time later so you can identify the trigger; do not permanently remove a VPN or DNS service solely because of this error.
7. Use a supported browser and private window
Netflix supports current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Safari where applicable. The requirements page currently lists these minimum versions; they are subject to change, so verify the live page before relying on the numbers:

See Netflix’s current browser and system requirements. In a private/incognito window, temporarily disable VPN, proxy, privacy, filtering, and ad-blocking extensions. If Netflix works there, identify the conflicting extension or site data instead of clearing every browser setting.
8. Clear Netflix cookies only when the session appears corrupted
Use Netflix’s clear-cookies page when the site behaves differently between browsers, loads incorrectly, or works in a private window. It signs you out. Select Sign In, enter your credentials again, and retry. Cookie cleanup can repair a damaged session, but it does not replace the network checks because Netflix classifies UI3012 primarily as a connectivity issue.
9. Confirm computer requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- macOS 10.15.5 or later.
- ChromeOS 76 or later.
- A supported, sufficiently recent browser.
Netflix says Windows 8 and 8.1 may still work with Standard Definition limitations. Silverlight is not a solution: Netflix ended Silverlight support on September 13, 2023 (Netflix support notice).

Managed and public networks may block streaming or require a captive-portal sign-in. Ask the network operator whether Netflix is permitted and complete any required sign-in. Do not attempt to bypass an organizational restriction. Netflix documents these network limitations in its UI3012 guidance.

Mobile hotspot, cellular, or satellite connection
These connections can work, but Netflix notes that they may be too slow or unstable for reliable playback. Performance and routing vary by location and provider.
When Fast.com and Netflix disagree
Fast.com will not load
Treat that as evidence that the computer or network cannot properly reach Netflix’s test service. Check the internet connection, router, captive-portal login, and network restrictions, then contact the ISP if needed.
Fast.com loads but UI3012 remains
A loaded speed test does not prove that every Netflix connection path is healthy. Continue with browser updates, a private-window test, extension disablement, cookie cleanup, and VPN, proxy, or custom-DNS checks. Compare another device or an Ethernet connection.
What to tell your ISP
Netflix recommends contacting the ISP when the preceding steps do not resolve UI3012. Provide:
- Whether one computer or several devices are affected.
- Whether the computer uses Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Whether other streaming services work.
- The Fast.com result and whether Fast.com loaded.
- Whether disabling VPN, proxy, or custom DNS changed anything.
Ask the ISP to check for a local outage, modem or router faults, routing problems, and incorrect network settings. After any repair, retry Netflix and run Fast.com again. If the ISP confirms the connection is healthy but the code persists only in Netflix, contact Netflix Support with these results.
