First find where the picture disappears: in YouTube playback on your device, in an IRL Pro live stream, or only in the recording after it is published. Those are different problems. YouTube’s general playback steps can help with viewer-side issues, but the official IRL Pro information reviewed does not document a specific black-screen fix or establish that IRL Pro caused the problem.
Identify which part of the video is black
Before changing settings, compare the affected video with another YouTube video and, if possible, view it on a second device or browser. Note whether audio continues. These comparisons help narrow down the failure; they are diagnostic suggestions, not an official IRL Pro procedure.
- Only one device or browser shows black: Start with YouTube playback, app, browser, or display-rendering checks on that device.
- The same IRL Pro stream looks black to multiple viewers: The issue may be in the stream output rather than one viewer’s player. Check whether audio is present and whether the video was black while live or became black only after publication.
- Other YouTube videos also look black on the same device: This points toward a playback or rendering issue on that device, although it does not prove the cause.
If the YouTube player is black while you watch
YouTube’s general video-playback guidance recommends checking the connection and playback quality, restarting the app or device, updating the app or browser, and checking browser extensions. Try these steps in order:
- Check the connection. Restart your router or switch to another network if available. If the video starts at a high resolution, lower the quality in the YouTube player and see whether playback returns.
- Compare playback. Open another YouTube video on the same device. Then try the affected video in another browser or on another device. This helps separate a device-specific problem from one associated with the particular video.
- Restart YouTube and the device. Close and reopen the YouTube app or browser tab. If that does not help, restart the device.
- Update the app or browser. Install available updates, then reopen the video.
- Test browser extensions. In a browser, temporarily disable extensions such as ad blockers and reload the video. If it works, re-enable extensions one at a time to identify whether one affects playback.
Use YouTube’s approximate speed guidance as a check
YouTube lists the following approximate recommended sustained internet speeds for playback. These are recommendations, not guarantees that a particular video will play correctly; the YouTube guidance reviewed does not state a publication year.

If the connection is below the approximate recommendation for the selected quality, lowering playback quality is a sensible test. A speed reading alone cannot establish the cause of a black screen.
If video rendering is broken on a computer
YouTube’s computer troubleshooting page covers a related case: a green player when audio is audible. It is not a confirmed fix for a black screen or an IRL Pro-specific problem, but its rendering checks may be relevant if the video fails in one desktop browser while audio continues.

- Try the same video in another browser.
- In Chrome, turn off Use hardware acceleration when available in the browser’s settings, then restart Chrome and test again.
- Check for a graphics-driver update using the official support information for your computer maker and operating system.
If the problem is limited to one browser or changes when hardware acceleration is switched off, that is useful diagnostic information. Do not treat the green-screen guidance as proof that the same cause applies to a black screen.
If the IRL Pro live stream or published recording is black
First establish whether the black picture is visible to multiple viewers and whether audio continues. Check the live broadcast separately from its published recording: if the live picture was visible but the recording is black, the failure appeared at a different stage than a stream that was black from the start. These checks narrow the report but do not identify a cause by themselves.

The official IRL Pro product information describes the app as a way to stream to YouTube and other destinations and mentions features including SRTLA bonding and bitrate adjustment. The page reviewed does not document black video, recording behavior, or a targeted troubleshooting sequence, so there is no verified IRL Pro setting to change for this symptom.
