If Disney+ stays on its logo, spins indefinitely, opens to a black screen, or crashes before the home page, first find out whether the failure is limited to one device or network. Try the service on another device and, if possible, another network before making changes. That quick comparison helps distinguish a Disney+ service or account problem from an app, device, browser, or home-network fault.
Work through these 10 methods in order, stopping when Disney+ loads normally. The steps begin with low-risk checks; actions such as clearing app data, reactivating a device, and reinstalling may require you to sign in again.
Start by identifying what is failing
“Stuck on loading” can mean the logo never disappears, a spinner does not end, the screen goes blank, the app freezes after profile selection, or the app returns to the device’s home screen. A website that keeps refreshing is a different symptom from a video that buffers after it has started. Disney treats app-loading and frozen-screen failures separately from streaming problems such as buffering and playback quality, so note exactly where the failure occurs.
Use this comparison to choose what to investigate. These are diagnostic clues, not guaranteed diagnoses.

10 methods to fix Disney+ stuck on loading
1. Check whether the problem is Disney+ or just one setup
Try Disney+ on another device, such as a phone or computer. Then open another streaming app on the affected device. If practical, test Disney+ on a different network, such as a phone hotspot. Disney recommends testing other apps and programs as part of troubleshooting; its guidance does not establish whether the service is down at this moment.
- If Disney+ fails across devices and networks, check Disney’s Help Center or contact Disney rather than repeatedly reinstalling the app.
- If other apps fail too, investigate the device or connection.
- If only one device fails, concentrate on that device’s software, app data, and support status.
Disney’s app and streaming troubleshooting guidance explains the comparisons and common causes: app-loading troubleshooting and streaming-issue troubleshooting.
2. Fully close and reopen Disney+
Pressing Home may only suspend an app, leaving the state that caused the loading loop in memory. Exit Disney+ completely, and close it from the device’s recent-apps or app-management screen if that option is available. Reopen the app and check whether it reaches the home page.
For a browser, close the Disney+ tab, quit the browser, reopen it, and load Disney+ again. If a full close fixes the issue, the app or browser may have been stuck in a temporary state; it does not establish that the network or device is otherwise problem-free. Disney lists fully closing the app or website as an initial step in its app troubleshooting guidance.

3. Test the internet connection and other apps
On the affected device, open another streaming app. Also check a website on another device connected to the same network. If available, try Disney+ using Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, or compare home Wi-Fi with a mobile hotspot. A fast speed test alone does not rule out Wi-Fi interference, packet loss, congestion, DNS filtering, or an ISP routing issue.
Potential network factors include a weak signal, simultaneous downloads or video calls, a VPN or proxy, parental-control or DNS filtering, and a router or modem problem. If Disney+ works over a hotspot but not home Wi-Fi, that points toward the home network path; it does not prove which router, DNS, filtering, or ISP setting is responsible. Avoid relying on a universal speed threshold: the connection needed depends on playback quality, device, congestion, and other household use. Disney’s current streaming guidance advises checking connectivity and its recommendations.
4. Power-cycle the modem, router, and streaming device
A power cycle is a normal restart, not a factory reset; it should not erase accounts, apps, or settings. Restart in this order:
- Turn off the streaming device.
- Power off the modem and router.
- Leave them off briefly.
- Restart the modem and wait for its connection to return.
- Restart the router and wait for Wi-Fi or the wired network to come back.
- Turn the streaming device back on, open Disney+, and test it.
Restarting only the TV or streaming stick does not restart the network equipment. If Disney+ still fails but other services work, continue to the app and device checks. Disney recommends powering off and restarting the device, modem, and router in this order in its streaming troubleshooting and app troubleshooting.

5. Update Disney+ and the device software
Check for an update to Disney+ in the device’s official app store, then check for an operating-system or firmware update for the TV, streaming device, console, phone, tablet, or computer. Menu names differ by platform and model, so use the device’s software-update and app-store screens rather than relying on one universal path. Restart the device after installing updates and test Disney+ again.
Updating can address compatibility problems or software bugs, but it is not a guaranteed fix. Confirm that the device and its software version are supported in your region using Disney’s supported devices information; device generations and regional availability can differ. Disney advises keeping both the app and platform software current in its app troubleshooting and streaming guidance.
6. Clear Disney+ cache or local data
Corrupted temporary files can contribute to an app problem, but clearing cache is only one possible remedy. Clear cache removes temporary files and normally leaves the installation in place. Clear data removes local app data and may sign you out or reset local settings; it does not cancel or delete your Disney+ subscription. Try cache first where available, then use clear data only if needed.
Common paths listed by Disney include:
- Android phone or tablet:
Settings > Apps > Disney+ > Storage > Clear Cache. If necessary, chooseClear Data. The exact labels vary by Android model. - Android TV:
Settings > Applications > Disney+ > Clear Cache; useClear Dataonly if needed. - Fire TV or Fire TV Stick:
Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Disney+ > Clear Cache; if needed, chooseClear Data. - Apple TV: Disney’s listed remedy is to uninstall and reinstall the app; there is not a separate cache-clear control in its guide.
- Desktop browser: clear Disney+ site data, including cache and cookies. This can sign you out of Disney+ and other websites.
Other platforms expose different controls, and some do not offer a clear-cache option. Use Disney’s platform-specific cache guide for instructions covering additional smart TVs, consoles, and streaming devices. Do not erase all device storage as an initial troubleshooting step.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
7. Check browser settings, extensions, and VPNs
If Disney+ is stuck only in a browser, try a current supported browser and open Disney+ in a private or incognito window. Temporarily disable extensions that can block scripts or site content—such as ad blockers, privacy tools, and script blockers—then restart the browser and test. These are diagnostic workarounds, not official Disney requirements; re-enable extensions one at a time if the test helps.
Disney says supported computer browsers need cookies and JavaScript enabled. Check both settings, then clear Disney+ site cookies and cache if needed. You may have to sign in again. If you use a VPN or proxy, temporarily disconnect it as a diagnostic test; location can affect service access, so a change in behavior does not by itself identify the underlying network fault. Disney’s streaming guidance covers browser cookies and JavaScript, and its cache guide covers browser data.
8. Deactivate and reactivate the affected device
Try this later in the process, particularly if Disney+ works on another device, the affected device was reset or replaced, or the app repeatedly returns to sign-in or profile selection. Follow Disney’s device deactivation and reactivation flow, then sign in again on the affected device. This can require authentication, so make sure you know the current MyDisney login details first.
Disney notes that MyDisney login details are shared across Disney services, so a changed email address or password can require signing in again in connected experiences. If you changed your password recently, test a fresh sign-in before assuming the loading screen is a device-registration problem. See Disney’s app troubleshooting page for its activation and account guidance.

9. Uninstall, restart, and reinstall Disney+
If updates and the less disruptive steps did not help, install a fresh copy from the official app store for your device:
- Uninstall Disney+.
- Restart the device.
- Install Disney+ again from the platform’s official app store.
- Sign in and test the app.
You will need to authenticate again. Disney recommends reinstalling as a way to obtain a fresh installation and potentially remove damaged local files, but it is not guaranteed to resolve every cause. Do not install unofficial APKs or modified app packages; they can be unsafe, unsupported, or incompatible with account and content-protection requirements. See Disney’s app troubleshooting and streaming guidance.
10. Contact Disney+ support with useful details
Contact Disney if the problem persists after the checks above, occurs across supported devices and networks, involves sign-in, billing, subscription, or activation, or shows a recurring error code. Disney’s app-troubleshooting page states that live support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week; support channels and availability can vary by region. Use Disney’s contact page for current options.
Have these details ready so support can narrow down the issue:
- Device make and model, plus operating-system or firmware version.
- Disney+ app version, if visible.
- Whether all titles fail or only a particular movie, episode, or live event.
- Whether other apps work on the affected device.
- Whether Disney+ works on another device or network.
- The exact error code, if one appears.
- Which restarts, updates, cache steps, or reinstall attempts you have already completed.
If the home screen loads but a title will not play
Do not treat a single stuck movie or episode as proof that the whole app is broken. Return to the title page, try another program, restart Disney+, and test the affected title on another device. If other titles play normally, the issue may be specific to that title, region, account, live event, or a temporary content-delivery fault. Contact Disney if it continues; a factory reset is not a sensible first response to one failing title.
Quick Recap
How to interpret common results
- Disney+ works on your phone but not the TV: focus on the TV app, its software and compatibility, or its network connection. The result does not by itself prove the account is at fault.
- Disney+ works on a hotspot but not at home: focus on the home router, DNS, filtering, VPN, or ISP path. A hotspot test narrows the scope but does not identify the specific cause.
- Clearing cache changes nothing: cache is only one possible cause; continue with updates, network and device restarts, reactivation, or reinstalling as appropriate.
- You cannot find Clear Cache: controls differ by platform. Follow Disney’s device cache instructions; some platforms use a different remedy, such as reinstalling.
- No error code appears: that does not establish that the account or device is healthy. Record the symptom and the comparisons you tried for support.
