Disney+ Error Code 91 means Disney has temporarily throttled requests from your IP address. Stop repeated sign-in, refresh, or payment attempts; wait several minutes; test your internet connection; restart the device; and check your billing details. If the message remains, contact Disney+ Support—there is no guaranteed universal wait time or self-service method for removing the restriction.
What Disney+ Error Code 91 means
The full message is: “Due to a high number of requests, we have temporarily throttled traffic from your IP address. Please try again later.” In plain English, Disney+ has temporarily limited requests arriving from the internet address your connection is using. Disney’s current help guidance describes this as a temporary traffic restriction, not automatic account cancellation or a permanent ban.
Disney does not publish the exact request threshold, detection rules, or duration. Its Error Codes 91 and 92 guidance, updated February 17, 2026, lists repeated failed sign-ins, repeated failed payment-method updates, and slow or unstable internet as possible triggers. See the Disney+ Help Centre guidance for Error Codes 91 and 92.
Do this first: stop creating more requests
- Close the Disney+ app or browser tab.
- Stop refreshing the page and do not keep guessing the password.
- Do not repeatedly resubmit a rejected card or payment update.
- Wait several minutes before making one careful attempt. Disney advises trying again later; its regional wording specifically says to wait a few minutes before signing in again.
Rapidly switching devices, resetting a password repeatedly, or submitting the same payment form over and over can make it harder to tell whether the restriction has cleared.

How to fix Error 91 step by step
1. Test the internet connection
- Open another website and a different streaming service.
- Check whether other devices on the same Wi-Fi network are also slow.
- If practical, try Disney+ once on a separate connection, such as mobile data or a hotspot.
This is a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed cure. Disney recommends an internet connection test but does not state a universal speed requirement for Error 91. If the error follows your account across different networks, the cause may be authentication or billing rather than only your home IP address.
2. Restart the device and relaunch Disney+
- Close Disney+ completely.
- Power off or restart your phone, computer, smart TV, game console, streaming stick, or set-top box.
- Wait briefly, then turn it back on.
- Open Disney+ and make one login or playback request.
Menu names differ among Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Google TV, Samsung and LG televisions, consoles, phones, and computers, so use your device’s normal power controls rather than a single platform-specific path.

3. Verify payment information
- Open Disney+ Account settings.
- Find the billing or payment section.
- Confirm the card or other payment method, expiration date, billing address, available funds, and any verification prompt.
- If the method is declined or cannot be updated, contact the bank or other financial institution that supports it.
Disney specifically identifies failed payment-method updates as a possible trigger. Account menus vary by country and subscription channel. If a third party such as an app store, television platform, or mobile provider bills you, that provider may control the payment details instead of Disney+ Account settings.
4. Try another device or browser once
Use a supported browser or another Disney+ device as a comparison test. Success elsewhere makes a local app, browser, device, or network problem more plausible; failure everywhere points more strongly toward an IP-level, account, or billing issue. This test helps identify the cause but does not itself remove Disney’s throttle.

5. Apply secondary local troubleshooting only if needed
After the official steps above, install available Disney+ and operating-system updates. On platforms that provide it, clear the app cache, then sign out and back in. Reinstall Disney+ only if the problem continues. These are general app-maintenance measures, not confirmed Error 91 remedies. Sony’s device-specific Disney+ troubleshooting guidance includes sign-out/sign-in and support-center advice, but it does not establish that cache clearing or reinstalling fixes this code.
Do not routinely disable a firewall or antivirus program. That is not part of Disney’s current Error 91 instructions and can reduce security. If you suspect network filtering, perform only a controlled test within your existing security policy and restore protections immediately.

Choose the right troubleshooting branch
| What you observe | Most useful next action |
|---|---|
| Error appeared after many failed sign-ins | Stop attempting to log in, wait, then make one careful attempt. Avoid repeated password resets. |
| Error appeared after changing payment details | Check the billing information once and contact the financial institution if the method is declined. Do not keep resubmitting it. |
| Every device fails on the same Wi-Fi | Test a different connection to distinguish a home-IP issue from an account issue. A new connection is not a guaranteed permanent fix. |
| Only one device fails | Restart it, update the app and operating system, try a browser or another supported device, then consider cache clearing or reinstalling. |
| The error follows the account across networks | Stop changing networks repeatedly and contact Disney+ Support for account or billing investigation. |
| A VPN or proxy is active | Test once on your ordinary local connection. Disney’s Error 91 page does not identify VPN use as a cause or prescribe disabling one. |
Is Disney+ down?
One Error 91 message does not prove a general Disney+ outage. Disney’s current explanation focuses on temporary IP throttling, failed authentication or payment attempts, and unstable connectivity. Check the Disney+ Help Center error-code directory and official support channels, and ask whether someone on an unrelated network can stream. Do not repeatedly refresh a status page or the app while checking.

Disney groups Error Codes 91 and 92 together: both indicate temporary throttling of traffic from an IP address and use essentially the same initial guidance. Error 93 is listed separately as suspicious-activity related; do not assume it has identical causes or remedies.

When to contact Disney+ Support
Contact Disney+ if Error 91 remains after waiting, restarting, testing the connection, and checking payment information; appears on multiple devices; prevents account access; repeatedly rejects correct payment details; or affects you while others on the same network can use Disney+.
Have this information ready:
- The exact code and full message
- Your Disney+ account email address
- Device model and operating system
- Disney+ app version or browser name
- Approximate time the error began
- Whether it occurs on other devices or networks
- Whether repeated login attempts or a payment update preceded it
Use Disney’s official support route rather than repeatedly retrying the blocked action. The company—not a device reset or an IP change—must investigate restrictions that do not clear.
Quick Recap
What not to assume
- Error 91 does not automatically mean your account is banned.
- Disney has not published a fixed number of minutes that every restriction lasts.
- Changing Wi-Fi, using a VPN, clearing cache, reinstalling the app, or disabling security software is not a guaranteed fix.
- A single user’s message does not establish that Disney+ is experiencing a platform-wide outage.
