If your church YouTube stream goes offline after a few hours in India, the timing alone does not reveal why. First establish what stopped: the encoder, the connection carrying its video to YouTube, or YouTube’s broadcast. Then check the encoder and network, and review the broadcast’s auto-stop settings. The available YouTube and OBS guidance does not identify a special India-only timeout.
First find out what stopped
During a test or service, compare three things at the same time: the encoder’s status and log, the stream status in YouTube Live Control Room, and the local recording or archive. YouTube describes an active stream as one where its server is receiving data from the encoder. YouTube Live Streaming API: liveStreams
- The encoder stopped or reports dropped frames: investigate the encoder, computer, source, and outbound network.
- The encoder appears to keep sending, but YouTube ends the broadcast: check Live Control Room messages and the broadcast’s settings.
- The local recording stops or has gaps: investigate the encoder, source, or computer as well as the network.
- The local recording continues while the stream fails: that helps distinguish a delivery problem from a complete source or encoder stoppage, but does not by itself identify the cause.
Write down the time of the interruption and the exact message shown. Avoid treating “after a few hours” as a diagnosis.
Check the encoder and computer
Update and inspect the encoder
YouTube recommends updating encoder software, checking the encoder’s output, reviewing its error information, and checking CPU load. Confirm that its preview has the expected picture and sound. If those checks point to an encoder-side fault, YouTube suggests trying a different encoder; replacing equipment without evidence of a problem is not the first step. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check whether the local archive is growing
Before and during a monitored test, verify that the local recording file is being created and continues to grow. YouTube recommends confirming the archive is growing as part of checking an encoder stream. If it stops growing at the same time as the broadcast, note that alongside the encoder’s status and log.
Check the connection from the church to YouTube
Look at the encoder’s statistics while it is streaming: dropped frames, bitrate falling sharply, or intermittent disconnections are useful clues. OBS explains that these can indicate a network problem between the computer and the remote ingest server, including a connection that cannot sustain the configured bitrate. Excessive dropped frames can disconnect a stream. OBS Project: Stream Connection Troubleshooting (dated 2024-09-30)

- Run an outbound connectivity check while the stream is active, rather than relying only on an idle speed test.
- Compare the encoder’s bitrate and dropped-frame status with the moment Live Control Room stops receiving data.
- If the site uses Wi-Fi, a wired Ethernet connection can help check whether the local wireless link is contributing. A cable is not a guaranteed fix; it will not resolve an ISP outage, encoder failure, power loss, or unsuitable configuration.
- If the connection itself appears problematic, contact the ISP. YouTube’s guidance says: “If you find issues with your Internet connection, contact your Internet service provider to troubleshoot.”
Review YouTube’s broadcast settings
Open the relevant stream in Live Control Room and inspect auto-start and auto-stop. Check the actual scheduled stream, especially if an earlier stream’s settings were reused: those selections can carry over. YouTube’s API guidance says that when auto-stop is enabled, the broadcast ends about a minute after the encoder stops sending video. That setting explains how YouTube may respond after a feed stops; it does not explain why the encoder stopped sending in the first place. YouTube Live Streaming API: liveBroadcasts
Run a monitored test before the next service
YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams in advance, checking the Live Control Room preview before going live, verifying that the local archive is growing, checking that the watch page is accessible, and monitoring audio and video quality. YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream

Do not confuse the 12-hour DVR note with a cutoff
YouTube says DVR capability may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. This is about viewers’ ability to pause or rewind a long live stream; it does not say YouTube automatically ends a stream after a few hours. YouTube Help: Enable DVR on live streams

If the church’s goal is to keep uploaded recordings playing live on YouTube without relying on a computer at the church, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. It is for uploaded videos, not a camera feed. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
