Measure or estimate the average power draw of the equipment you will leave running, convert that draw into monthly kilowatt-hours (kWh, often called units on electricity bills), then apply your own utility’s tariff and billing rules. There is no single per-unit rate that applies to every household in India.
Estimate your stream’s monthly electricity use
First decide what your estimate includes. A PC-only figure should use the PC’s average draw at the wall. For a complete streaming setup, include every device that will remain on for the stream, such as a monitor. Keep that equipment list consistent throughout the calculation.
Measure average draw when possible
The most useful input is the setup’s average power draw under representative streaming conditions. A plug-in electricity usage monitor that records cumulative kWh can help capture consumption over time. Check that any meter is compatible with your outlet, voltage, and the load you intend to measure. For example, the manufacturer says its PSM-29 has a built-in power meter, measures electricity consumption, and supports 110–230 V, but that does not establish that this particular model is sold in India or suits every PC load. If you cannot measure the setup, use an explicitly labeled estimate of its average watts. Do not treat the wattage printed on a PC power supply as the computer’s constant draw: it is not a measurement of what the setup actually consumes while streaming.

Convert watts and runtime into kWh
Use this formula for the billing period you want to estimate:
kWh = average watts × hours per day × days in billing period ÷ 1,000

For continuous operation, enter 24 hours per day. As a hypothetical arithmetic example, a measured average total draw of 100 W over 30 days uses 100 × 24 × 30 ÷ 1,000 = 72 kWh, or 72 units. This is an example calculation, not a published typical PC-streaming figure.
Apply the electricity tariff for your connection
Use the latest tariff for your own electricity utility (DISCOM), consumer category, and billing period. The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) explains that its Financial Studies & Analysis Division prepares an annual tariff-and-duty publication by analyzing State and Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission tariff orders and collecting subsidy and electricity-duty data. Its entries include utility or state, effective date, consumer category or tariff description, tariff basis, and energy charge. Those details matter: a rate from one place or category is not a national household rate. Start with the CEA Financial Studies & Analysis Division and confirm the applicable order or details with your own utility. The CEA’s Electricity Tariff & Duty and Average Rates of Electricity Supply in India report shows the utility and effective-tariff context used for its entries.

Estimate energy charges, not the whole bill by multiplying one rate
Apply the relevant energy-charge rules to the added kWh. If your tariff has consumption slabs, those extra units may cross a slab boundary. The full bill can also include fixed charges, duties, surcharges, subsidies, or other adjustments, so the energy-charge arithmetic alone is not necessarily the increase in your total bill.

These are figures for that territory, category, and financial-year schedule—not rates to use for other Indian connections. Check the Lakshadweep Department of Electricity schedule and your own tariff order for the rules applicable to your bill.

To estimate how much the stream adds to a household bill, compare two scenarios for the same billing period: the household’s expected usage without the streaming equipment, and that usage with the equipment’s estimated kWh added. Apply the same local tariff and billing rules to both. This makes any change in slab treatment visible. The result remains an estimate; the actual bill depends on metered consumption and applicable charges or adjustments.

For example, if the 72 kWh hypothetical load above faced a hypothetical marginal energy charge of ₹6 per kWh, the energy-charge arithmetic would be ₹432. That is not an India-wide rate and does not establish a ₹432 increase in the full bill. The actual outcome depends on location, consumer category, slab rules, fixed charges, duties, surcharges, subsidies, and other billing terms.
