There is no universal monthly price for sending a prerecorded video from the cloud to YouTube Live. Estimate the services your design actually uses—runtime, storage, transfer, and any optional encoding or reliability services—then price each one for your provider, region, settings, and operating hours. A cloud relay that sends one feed to YouTube is not the same as a system that also packages video and delivers it to viewers.

Define what you are pricing

Start by drawing the path your video takes. A simple relay reads a prerecorded file from cloud storage and sends one contribution feed to YouTube Live. Its estimate should cover that relay, not the cost of serving the resulting video to YouTube viewers.

A larger live-video stack may encode several renditions, package or originate a channel, and distribute video through a CDN. Those components serve a different purpose and can dominate the cost. AWS’s Live Streaming on AWS planning documentation and CloudFront live-streaming cost guidance describe broader workflows; do not use a full-stack viewer-delivery total as the price of a one-feed YouTube relay.

Build the estimate from the services you use

Use this planning formula: monthly total = compute/runtime + storage + transfer + enabled service charges + applicable taxes or fees. Price every line with the cloud provider’s current calculator or rate card, using your deployment region. This is a method, not a current quote: no current, directly comparable relay-only provider rates are established here.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Compute and runtime

Estimate how many hours the virtual machine or managed relay/encoding service runs during the month, then apply the rate for the selected instance or service and region. Include additional capacity if your encoding settings require it. For a continuously running service, use the actual planned hours rather than assuming a short event schedule; include standby or redundant capacity only if your design uses it.

Storage and requests

Include the source video files retained in cloud storage and any intermediate or output files your workflow keeps. Estimate retained size and duration, and include storage request charges if the provider bills them. A relay that reads an existing file does not automatically need a separate transcoding or packaging service.

Transfer to YouTube

Estimate the contribution feed’s data volume from its bitrate and operating time, then apply the provider’s current regional transfer pricing and any applicable allowance. Keep units consistent: for a bitrate in megabits per second, multiply by seconds of operation to get megabits, then divide by 8,000 to approximate decimal gigabytes. For example, at 6 Mb/s for 200 hours: 6 Ă— 200 Ă— 3,600 Ă· 8,000 = 540 GB before protocol overhead. Use the actual bitrate and hours for your stream; this example is only a conversion illustration, not a rate or forecast.

YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends RTMPS for YouTube Live and also discusses HLS for encoders that do not support the relevant RTMP capabilities. That is destination-protocol guidance, not a cloud price. The protocol choice does not remove the need to estimate transfer volume.

Optional services and operating details

Add only the services present in your design: transcoding, packaging, redundancy, logs and metrics, backups, static addresses, or a CDN. A CDN is relevant if the architecture distributes video to viewers; it is not automatically part of a relay that pushes a feed to YouTube. Likewise, do not count a second encoder or standby machine unless you plan to run one.

Make the estimate reproducible

  1. Choose the architecture. Write down whether you are pricing one cloud relay to YouTube or a fuller workflow with encoding, packaging/origination, and viewer delivery.
  2. Set the operating schedule. Record planned hours per month and whether compute runs continuously, only during scheduled streams, or with standby capacity.
  3. Record media assumptions. Note source-file size and retention, output bitrate, resolution, and any extra renditions. More encoding capacity or renditions may change compute and service charges.
  4. Select provider and region. Use the region where the services will run, and capture any applicable allowance, discount, or redundancy assumption. Do not transfer a rate from another region or date without checking it.
  5. Price each line item. Enter compute, storage, transfer, and only the optional services your design uses into the provider’s current calculator or rate card.
  6. Check the bill after launch. Compare actual hours, transfer, storage, and enabled services with the estimate. AWS recommends setting a budget through Cost Explorer to help manage cloud costs.

What a published AWS example does—and does not—tell you

AWS’s current planning documentation, accessed in 2026, gives an example of about $3,838.69 for 200 hours per month. Its assumptions are approximately 100 viewers, an HD 1080p encoding profile, US East (N. Virginia), standard pricing without free-tier use or discounts, and a full MediaLive/MediaPackage/CloudFront workflow. AWS assigns about $904.69 to live encoding and packaging and $2,934.00 to distribution of 36,035 GB. The example shows how viewer delivery can outweigh encoding and packaging in a complete streaming stack; it is not an estimate for sending one prerecorded feed to YouTube.

AWS says, “Prices are subject to change.” Its example is regional and assumption-specific, so price your own deployment with current provider inputs rather than treating that figure as a benchmark. AWS’s separate cost FAQ was first published in 2018 and updated for MediaPackage changes effective 2019; its historical rates should not be presented as current. It nevertheless illustrates why audience size, delivered quality, and CDN cache and egress assumptions matter when pricing a service that delivers video to viewers.

With a do-it-yourself cloud relay, you choose and price the infrastructure line by line, which makes sense when you need control over the architecture or must integrate additional services. A managed service can make the comparison simpler: StreamNeo lists the same product on every plan, with plan length—not quality tier—changing the price. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account; after that you can choose a day, week, month, six months, or year and cancel any time. UPI and cards are accepted in India, with card checkout worldwide; contact support for five or more slots. See StreamNeo for details.

Or let it run in the cloud

Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams the file as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Common estimation mistakes

  • Using a full-stack example for a relay. Separate the cloud-to-YouTube contribution feed from encoding, packaging, and viewer distribution.
  • Ignoring bitrate or runtime. Transfer scales with both; calculate volume from the stream’s actual bitrate and monthly hours.
  • Assuming a universal regional rate. Provider prices, allowances, discounts, and service availability vary by region and can change.
  • Leaving out retained media or auxiliary services. Count source and intermediate storage, requests where charged, logs, backups, addresses, or redundancy when your design uses them.
  • Treating a calculator result as a guarantee. It is an estimate based on inputs; monitor actual usage and bill after deployment.
