To show an on-screen alert when someone gifts YouTube channel memberships, enable channel memberships for your eligible YouTube channel, link that channel to Streamlabs, then create a variation under the YouTube Members alert event. Add the Alert Box to your streaming scene and test it before going live. The steps below cover membership gifts—not YouTube’s separate Gifts powered by Jewels feature.
Before you start: enable YouTube channel memberships
In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Memberships and complete the enablement flow if your channel is eligible. The Memberships tab appears only for eligible channels. YouTube notes that after joining the YouTube Partner Program, membership activation may take up to two days while eligibility is reviewed. Confirm the feature is active before setting up Streamlabs. See YouTube’s channel memberships guidance and its instructions for third-party integrations with Super Chat and channel memberships.
Streamlabs’ integration instructions also require the relevant YouTube feature—Channel memberships or Super Chat—to be eligible and turned on before connecting. The exact YouTube feature that makes the Members event available is channel memberships.
Connect the correct YouTube channel to Streamlabs
- Sign in to Streamlabs using the Google sign-in credentials for the YouTube channel that will host the live stream.
- Follow Streamlabs’ on-screen instructions to link the channel.
- Check that Streamlabs connected the intended channel before editing alerts. Linking a different channel will configure alerts for the wrong account.
YouTube’s third-party integration instructions explain the connection. You can also remove a third-party integration’s access through your Google account if you later need to disconnect it.

Create a variation for gifted memberships
- Open the Streamlabs Dashboard and select Alert Box.
- Select the YouTube Members event, then add an alert variation.
- Choose the condition that matches the alert you want. Streamlabs’ Alert Box variations guide, last updated June 12, 2026, lists these YouTube membership-gift conditions: Membership gift amount is [amount], User gifted at least [amount] members at once, and Membership gift level is [level name].
- Set the amount or level required by the condition. Name the variation so you can identify it later.
- Customize its available image or GIF, sound, text, animation, duration, and other settings, then save.
The general Members event can cover membership activity; a variation lets you target a gift-specific condition or threshold. Streamlabs notes that available conditions depend on the selected platform and event, so if the gift conditions are missing, check that the platform is YouTube and the event is Members.
Add the Alert Box to the scene you will stream
In Streamlabs Desktop
In the scene you plan to use, select the plus button in Sources, then choose Alert Box. Confirm the source is visible and positioned where you want alerts to appear.

In other streaming software
Copy the Alert Box widget link from the Streamlabs Dashboard and add it to the relevant scene as a browser source. Use the correct widget link and scene, and check any event filters that may limit which alerts appear. Preview and test the configured alert
Preview the alert while editing. To test the overlay path, use Test in the Streamlabs Dashboard alert settings and select the alert type, or use Test Widgets in Streamlabs Desktop and select the event. A test checks whether the configured alert can display through the widget and scene; it does not prove that YouTube received a real membership gift.

Membership gifts are not Gifts powered by Jewels

YouTube describes its Jewels feature as letting viewers express themselves and show appreciation during eligible vertical and horizontal live streams by purchasing Jewels. That is not the same event as giving someone a channel membership. Enabling Jewels under Earn > Supers & gifts does not replace the Members variation in Streamlabs. See YouTube’s guides to Gifts powered by Jewels and Gifts eligibility and availability; territory and stream/chat rules for Jewels can change.
YouTube documents channel membership gifting on eligible horizontal and vertical live streams, subject to eligibility. Gift recipients must opt in; YouTube also lists restrictions, including that people signed in through Brand Accounts and existing channel members cannot receive these gifts under its cited instructions. Troubleshoot missing or invisible alerts
- No Members event or gift conditions: Check that YouTube is the selected Streamlabs platform, the event is Members, and channel memberships are eligible and active in YouTube Studio. Variation choices depend on platform and event.
- The Streamlabs test works, but nothing appears on the live scene: Confirm the Alert Box is in the active Streamlabs Desktop scene, or that the correct browser-source widget link is in the selected scene in your other streaming software. Check event filters, then test again.
- You see a YouTube chat welcome but no visual alert: YouTube says an ordinary new membership during a live stream produces a bright green Welcome message in chat, pinned for five minutes. That native chat notice is distinct from a Streamlabs overlay alert.
- You followed Earn > Supers & gifts but cannot configure the membership alert: That Studio path is for the separate Jewels feature. Configure membership gifting under Streamlabs’ YouTube Members event instead.
- No recipient appears to receive a gift: Check YouTube’s gifting eligibility and opt-in requirements. Customizing the Streamlabs alert does not change who can receive a gifted membership.
