To download your own YouTube livestream, open YouTube Studio, go to Content, find the archived stream, open its video menu and select Download. This works only if YouTube saved an archive; for a channel-wide copy of your uploaded videos, use Google Takeout.

Make sure the stream was archived
A stream needs an archive before Studio can offer a download. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the stream is missing, check the channel’s live content and whether the broadcast exceeded that duration. If YouTube did not capture an archive, a downloader cannot retrieve that missing file. For future broadcasts, YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Details are in YouTube’s archive guidance.
Download all your channel videos with Google Takeout
If you need a channel-wide copy rather than one archived stream, use Google Takeout, which YouTube identifies as the way to download all videos you uploaded. This is a different scope from downloading a single video in Studio. See the official download instructions.

Can you download someone else’s livestream?
YouTube’s creator download feature is for videos uploaded to your own channel; it does not provide a download for another user’s video. YouTube Premium offline viewing is a separate in-app viewing option, not an export of an MP4 file. Ask the creator for permission or an authorized copy if you need the recording.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check rights before sharing the file elsewhere
Having a downloaded file does not give you permission to republish its contents. YouTube scans live streams for third-party material, and archived streams can receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends. Its live-stream copyright guidance explains this process. The livestream terms also say content providers must have the necessary rights for their live content on Google services and comply with applicable laws. Get permission for music and other material before reusing it; the applicable legal rules depend on the circumstances and jurisdiction.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with a recording or playlist, rather than download a stream that has already ended, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay running at home; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Try it at StreamNeo’s free-trial signup.
