To show the current podcast episode title inside your YouTube video, add it to the stream output as an OBS text source, title card, or browser-based overlay. To change the title shown around the YouTube player, edit the broadcast’s YouTube title instead. These are separate surfaces: one is part of the video picture, while the other is metadata for the live broadcast.
Choose where the episode title should appear
A YouTube live broadcast represents one YouTube video and has one broadcast title in its metadata. The broadcast and the incoming live stream are separate resources, although a broadcast can be bound to a stream. YouTube does not provide a sequence of episode-specific metadata titles for a continuous broadcast. YouTube Live Streaming API: LiveBroadcasts
- Inside the video: Put the episode name in the picture using a text source, title card, or overlay. This is the right choice when the name should change as the next episode starts.
- Around the YouTube player: Edit the broadcast title in YouTube Studio. This changes the metadata title for the one live video, not a label embedded in the picture.
Show the episode title inside the video with OBS
Use a text source for a simple label
- In OBS, select the scene you use for your YouTube stream.
- Add a text source and enter the current episode title. Place it as a lower third or title label where it will not obscure faces, captions, or important artwork.
- Preview the scene at the intended viewing size to check that the text is readable and positioned correctly.
- When the next episode begins, edit the text source or switch to a scene with that episode’s prepared title card.
This approach is straightforward, but the title will not change by itself: someone needs to update it or switch scenes at each episode boundary.
Use a Browser Source for a web-rendered overlay
- In OBS, select the stream scene and add a Browser Source. OBS documents Browser Source as a way to place web content in an OBS scene. OBS Browser Source documentation
- Point the source to the overlay page that renders your title, then position and size it in the scene.
- Preview the composed output and confirm the title remains readable without covering essential video content.
- Before relying on automatic changes, verify that the page or overlay receives episode information from your exact podcast player or other title source.
A browser overlay can support styled or externally rendered graphics, but a Browser Source alone does not detect which podcast episode is playing. Automatic episode detection depends on the specific overlay and its data integration; no universal podcast-player integration is established by the official OBS and YouTube documentation cited here.

Change the title shown around the YouTube player
Manage the live broadcast details in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s Live Streaming API describes the broadcast title as a property of the broadcast’s snippet and supports updating a broadcast; an API workflow requires appropriate authorization and implementation. The API reference describes programmatic resources rather than every detail of the current Studio controls, so consult YouTube’s current Live Control Room interface for the available editing flow. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
For a continuous stream containing multiple podcast episodes, use one descriptive title for the overall live video and show the changing episode name in the video itself. Editing the YouTube title does not create an episode-by-episode title track.

Which method should you use?
| Method | What changes | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edit the YouTube broadcast title | The metadata title for the one broadcast video | Naming a new broadcast or correcting its overall title | It does not add an in-video episode label. |
| OBS text source or title card | Text in the outgoing video | Manual title changes at episode boundaries | Someone must edit the text or switch scenes. |
| OBS Browser Source overlay | Web content in the outgoing video | Styled or externally rendered title graphics | Any automatic update depends on the overlay’s exact data integration. |
Keep a continuous podcast stream running in the cloud
If your episodes are uploaded recordings and you want them to play in a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
