Build the schedule around the audience’s region and tradition, verify each festival date against an appropriate local calendar, prepare a rights-cleared playlist, and schedule its YouTube stream with accurate local time and metadata. A government-office holiday list can provide planning anchors, but it is not a complete calendar for every Indian community. For a channel that must run continuously, treat playlist scheduling and reliable stream operation as separate jobs.
1. Define who the schedule serves
Before choosing dates or songs, write down the channel’s intended audience: the regions and time zones it serves, the languages it uses, and the devotional traditions it represents. Festival dates and observance practices can differ by region and community. Avoid presenting one national or government-office holiday list as a universal Indian religious calendar.
- Choose the audience’s primary region or regions and record the relevant time zone.
- Identify the languages and traditions the channel will represent.
- Decide whether the programming covers the festival day only or includes a lead-in, such as a multi-day Navaratri sequence before Dussehra.
2. Build and verify the festival calendar
Start with official national or state sources, then check the local calendar relevant to the audience. Record the source and the date you checked it. For observances based on lunar calendars, confirm the date close to the event; local observance can differ. Government-office holiday listings are useful reference points, not a complete panchang.
2026 planning anchors
An ISRO centre’s government-office holiday list, last updated December 29, 2025, lists these dates. Treat them as prompts to verify for the intended region and tradition, not as universal observance dates. Other official calendars can have different scopes and additional dates.

| Festival | Listed 2026 date | Programming prompt |
|---|---|---|
| Ganesh Chaturthi | September 14 | Prepare a Ganesh-focused playlist and verify local observance timing. |
| Dussehra (Vijay Dashmi) | October 20 | Consider a multi-day lead-in if the channel’s audience observes Navaratri. |
| Diwali (Deepavali) | November 8 | Prepare a festival playlist and check region-specific celebration dates. |
These examples come from the ISRO URSC holiday listing. A separate Department of Fertilizers holiday listing illustrates that official lists can differ in scope. Confirm the date with the relevant state, community, or local authority rather than silently choosing between conflicting calendars.
3. Match each observance to an appropriate playlist
For each festival, decide the playlist’s devotional focus, language, sequence, and duration. Label deities and traditions accurately, and make sure the programming fits the channel’s stated remit. There is no single prescribed devotional repertoire for these dates: selection is an editorial decision for the channel and its audience.

Keep the public-facing title and description specific—for example, name the festival, language, and intended observance when those details are accurate. If the channel serves multiple regions or traditions, make separate programming rows or streams where that prevents a date, language, or devotional focus from being mistaken for universal.
4. Clear music and recording rights before broadcast
Religious or traditional subject matter does not by itself make a recording free to use. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have necessary worldwide rights for the live content, including applicable music licensing rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. Even if you have a licence for third-party content, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.

Before adding a recording, keep written records of the rights that apply to the specific material and intended use:
- Sound recording and composition rights.
- Performance rights, where applicable.
- Territory and term of the permission.
- Permission to stream the material live on YouTube.
- Confirmation that a third-party rights owner has allowlisted the channel in Content ID when required.
Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and its livestream terms and conditions. Do not rely on a claim that a song is devotional, traditional, or commonly played as proof that your particular recording and composition are cleared.

5. Create an operations row for every scheduled stream
A shared calendar or spreadsheet makes ownership and handoffs visible. Give each festival stream one row and fill in the operational details before scheduling:
- Festival, verified local date, time, and time zone.
- Playlist name, sequence, language, and rights-check status.
- Stream title, thumbnail, and description.
- YouTube scheduled-stream URL and the date promotion begins.
- Responsible operator and rights-safe fallback content.
6. Schedule the event in YouTube and promote it
YouTube supports streaming by mobile, webcam, encoder, and console. To livestream, a channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check YouTube’s current getting-started guidance for the applicable requirements and available methods.

- Open YouTube Studio. Create a scheduled live stream using the method appropriate to your production.
- Enter the event details. Add the festival-specific title, description, thumbnail, date, and start time. Confirm the displayed time against the audience’s intended local time zone.
- Review the scheduled event. Check its public details and scheduled-stream URL before sharing them.
- Share the link ahead of time. YouTube’s promotion guidance recommends sharing a live-stream link at least 48 hours before broadcast where practical.
- Organize the archive. After the event, place the archive and any highlights into relevant playlists so viewers can find them later.
YouTube documents editing scheduled-stream settings and metadata; an upcoming stream may appear in subscriber feeds with a “Notify me” option. Consult its stream settings guidance and promotion guidance, then confirm the options shown in your current Studio interface.
7. Rehearse the continuous-stream workflow
Scheduling a festival event does not by itself establish that a 24/7 loop will keep running. YouTube supports encoder streaming, but that fact does not certify a particular automation tool, configuration, or uptime. Before relying on an unattended broadcast, rehearse playlist transitions, audio levels, stream recovery, and rights-safe fallback programming. Assign someone to respond to a failure, and verify that any fallback material is cleared for use.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded YouTube devotional channel, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist looping from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
Quick Recap
8. Troubleshoot common scheduling and broadcast problems
- The date appears wrong for some viewers: Recheck the relevant regional or community calendar, the time zone entered in Studio, and the local observance. Update the event details and notify viewers if the schedule changes.
- The stream is claimed, interrupted, or replaced with a placeholder: A third-party match may have triggered YouTube’s live copyright handling. Stop using the disputed material until you confirm permissions for the recording and composition; if it is licensed, contact the rights owner about allowlisting your channel.
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Consult YouTube’s current getting-started guidance for the applicable setup.
- Viewers cannot find the scheduled event or its details are inaccurate: Reopen the scheduled stream in Studio, inspect its visibility and metadata, and verify the displayed start time before resending the link.
- A continuous loop stops or has a poor transition: Test the loop and recovery process before the festival, check audio and playlist transitions, and prepare rights-cleared fallback content with an identified operator.
