You can build a station-like listening experience in the YouTube Music mobile app by creating a custom Mix seeded with Indian regional artists. To collect songs from other listeners, use a collaborative playlist: it lets invited people add tracks, but it is not a live radio request queue or broadcast channel.
Create a station-like Mix
YouTube Music’s custom Mix is the closest built-in option described in its help guidance to a radio station: it starts with artists you choose and offers controls to shape the listening experience. Create it in the mobile app:
- Open Library.
- Choose New, then Mix.
- Select artists to use as seeds.
- Adjust artist variety and how much music discovery to include. Add optional filters such as BPM, popularity, or mood if they suit the station.
- Tap Done to create the Mix.
You can adjust the listening queue while it plays: open Up next and choose a category to change the queue. YouTube Music can update its menus, so labels and placement may shift over time.
Find regional artists and songs to seed the Mix
Use a combination of discovery and search, then add artists that fit the sound you want:

- Explore: Browse popular releases, genres, playlists, and categories for a country or region.
- Search: Try the region, language, artist, song, or genre terms listeners actually use. If results are thin, try alternate spellings or transliterations.
- Home: When signed in, recommendations can include stations based on mood, activity, and listening history.
Once you find suitable artists, add them as Mix seeds and tune discovery and variety. This workflow can help surface music, but it cannot guarantee that every regional song, language variant, or spelling is indexed. Collect song requests with a collaborative playlist
For a group of listeners, a collaborative playlist is a practical place to gather suggestions. Create a playlist, make it shareable, and invite collaborators so they can add songs. Choose privacy and sharing settings according to whether the playlist is for a private group or a wider community; the owner can change privacy settings or stop sharing. This gives contributors a shared list, not a managed live request system. The available guidance does not establish a dedicated request inbox, moderation workflow, automatic rotation, or a guarantee that tracks play in request order. On Android, YouTube Music also documents saving an upcoming station song to a playlist, which can help a listener move a discovery into a list.

Ask Music is not the India-first route
YouTube’s Ask Music feature can create custom mixes from natural-language prompts, but its official page describes mobile access for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium members, and its published country list does not include India.
