To create a weekday and weekend schedule for a YouTube radio stream, plan the programs in a calendar, then schedule a separate YouTube live broadcast for each airing in YouTube Studio. Reuse the same stream settings when the encoder setup stays the same, but check each broadcast’s date, time, title, description, and visibility before promoting it.
“Playlist” can mean two different things here: the tracks or videos played inside a continuous live feed, or a YouTube playlist that organizes already-published videos. YouTube’s documented live workflow schedules broadcasts; it does not establish automatic weekly rotation of tracks or a recurring weekday/weekend playlist scheduler.
Plan the schedule before opening YouTube Studio
Start with an editorial calendar. Decide what your weekday and weekend programming will contain, when each block begins and ends, and who will start or monitor the live feed. Choose times that suit your audience; there is no universal best time established for every channel.
- Record the channel’s time zone and use it consistently in the calendar and event details.
- Give each program block a clear title and description so viewers can distinguish weekday programming from weekend programming.
- List the actual dates and start times for every airing. Treat each planned airing as its own broadcast unless the current Studio interface explicitly offers a recurrence option.
- Decide whether both blocks use the same encoder configuration and stream key, or whether different shows need separate stream configurations.
A schedule for tracks entering one continuous live feed is a programming and playback task; a YouTube playlist of published videos is an organization task. The live scheduling steps below create upcoming broadcasts, not an automated playlist of music or a playlist-upload schedule.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Schedule each airing in YouTube Studio
- Open the live scheduling workflow. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule Stream.
- Create a broadcast or reuse settings. Create a new stream, or choose Reuse settings when the encoder setup is the same. Reuse can carry over metadata, settings, the stream key, and Auto-start/Auto-stop selections, so it is a shortcut—not an automatic update of the next event.
- Set the event details. Enter the intended title, description, date, time, and visibility. Review the information carefully, particularly if you reused a previous event’s settings.
- Repeat for each planned date. Create an individual scheduled broadcast for each weekday and weekend airing you want to announce. Reusing settings can reduce repeated setup, but it does not itself create a recurring event or change the program content.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key in your encoder, then start sending the feed. Treat the stream key as a credential: it allows the encoder to send video to YouTube.
- Check the preview and start the broadcast. For the scheduled-broadcast workflow documented by YouTube, wait for the encoder preview in Live Control Room and select Go live. Follow the current prompts there; sending encoder data and making the scheduled broadcast live are related but distinct parts of the process.
- Promote and verify the event. Share the upcoming watch page, confirm its date, time, and visibility, and let viewers know they can select Notify me where available.
YouTube says scheduling lets creators promote a stream, share its URL, and offer viewers reminders for upcoming streams. See YouTube’s encoder streaming and scheduling guide and live stream settings guidance.
Understand broadcasts, streams, and recurrence
A broadcast is the scheduled public event; a stream is the feed and delivery settings sent from the encoder. Google’s API documentation distinguishes the liveBroadcast event from the liveStream feed. That distinction explains why retaining the same stream settings or key does not create a new scheduled event automatically.

Google documents an API pattern in which one stream resource can be bound to scheduled broadcast resources at different times. For shows with different needs, or overlapping schedules, it also describes using a distinct stream for each show. These are API concepts and options, not proof of a one-click recurring weekday/weekend scheduler in Studio. See the broadcasts and streams guide and YouTube Live Streaming API reference.
YouTube’s documented Studio workflow covers individual scheduled broadcasts and reuse of stream settings. It does not establish a native weekly recurrence control that alternates weekday and weekend playlists. Check the current Live Control Room interface before relying on any recurrence option.

Check rights and operational details
- Music rights: Scheduling a broadcast does not grant permission to use music. Confirm you have the rights needed for every track or recording in the feed and review YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream policies before airing it.
- Copied settings: A reused setup may carry over the old title, description, visibility, stream key, and Auto-start/Auto-stop choices. Verify every value for the new airing.
- Start behavior: Auto-start and Auto-stop may affect how an encoder starts or stops a broadcast, but those settings are not a weekly scheduler or playlist-rotation feature. Follow the controls shown for the scheduled event.
- Different programs: If shows need different delivery settings, plan separate stream configurations rather than assuming one reused configuration fits every block.
Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| The event is at the wrong time | Check the time zone in your calendar and confirm the event’s displayed date and time in Studio before sharing its watch page. |
| The scheduled event shows the wrong program details | Review title, description, visibility, and other copied metadata after choosing Reuse settings. |
| The encoder is sending data, but the broadcast is not live | Confirm the stream URL and key, wait for the preview, and follow the Live Control Room prompt to select Go live when required. |
| The next airing did not appear automatically | Create the next date/time as an individual scheduled broadcast. Reusing stream settings is not the same as creating a recurring event. |
| A show needs different delivery settings | Use a configuration appropriate to that show; Google’s API guide describes separate streams for shows with different requirements or overlapping schedules. |
| A viewer cannot find the upcoming show | Check the event’s visibility and share the correct upcoming watch page. Viewers can use Notify me where the option is available. |
