Choose the right kind of continuous stream

For an attended documentary discussion, live narration, or camera-led program, use a browser studio. For a channel that should loop a documentary or a playlist around the clock, use a cloud service built for prerecorded continuous streaming. Gyre describes uploading videos, arranging a playlist, connecting YouTube, and scheduling the stream; those are vendor-described capabilities, not an independent performance test. Check YouTube channel access before setup
Do this before planning a launch. Restream’s YouTube setup guidance says live streaming must be enabled, phone verification is required, and first-time activation can take 24 hours. Set up a live broadcast in Restream Studio
- Prepare the channel. Enable YouTube live streaming and complete phone verification. If this is the channel’s first activation, allow the 24-hour activation period before the planned broadcast.
- Open Restream Studio in a desktop browser. Restream recommends an updated Chrome browser. Sign in and create a new Studio stream.
- Allow device access. When prompted, permit the browser to use the camera and microphone. Add the intended host, guests, or prepared media, then arrange scenes and graphics.
- Set the broadcast details. Enter the title and description, choose the appropriate visibility and other YouTube options, and select YouTube under Channels.
- Check the connection. Restream recommends at least 10 Mbps upload, and 25 Mbps or higher for Full HD, with a wired connection for added stability. These are Restream recommendations, not guaranteed performance thresholds for every network. Close unnecessary upload-heavy applications and test from the connection you will use on air.
- Start the stream. Confirm the selected channel and details, then click Go Live in Studio. Watch YouTube’s stream health while the broadcast is underway.
Restream says Studio automatically adjusts bitrate to the selected resolution and lists examples of 6 Mbps for 1080p30, 5 Mbps for 720p60, and 4 Mbps for 720p30. These are Studio guidance figures, not a promise of a particular result on every connection. See Restream’s Studio bitrate guidance.
Set up a prerecorded video loop in a cloud service
- Prepare the files. Use videos you have the right to stream, and check that each file plays correctly and has usable audio. Decide the order and whether the same playlist should repeat.
- Upload and arrange the playlist. In the cloud service, upload the prerecorded files and arrange them into the intended continuous sequence. For example, Gyre describes a workflow of uploading files to cloud storage and creating a playlist.
- Connect the YouTube channel. Follow the service’s current YouTube authorization steps. Confirm that the connected account has the necessary channel authority before scheduling.
- Schedule or start the stream. Review the stream title, description, visibility, playlist order, and start time. Start the broadcast or schedule it using the service’s controls, then confirm that YouTube shows the stream as live.
- Verify the actual output. Watch the YouTube stream and check audio, image, and playback order. Do not assume that a scheduled cloud workflow has succeeded until YouTube reports a live stream.
Gyre’s site describes playlist looping and scheduling, but its service statements are vendor-published. Check the provider’s current features, YouTube compatibility, and terms before relying on it for a long-running channel.

Test the stream and monitor it
For an external encoder feeding YouTube, YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate, and a 2-second keyframe interval; it says not to exceed 4 seconds. Use YouTube’s supported video and audio settings for the encoder and output you choose. Restream Studio manages its own bitrate automatically, so those external-encoder settings are not a Studio configuration checklist.
Before a public launch, run a representative test with the real audio and moving content, then inspect YouTube stream health. A static test screen will not reveal problems that appear with motion, scene changes, or the actual soundtrack. YouTube’s encoder guidance is at Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Plan around YouTube replay limits
YouTube Help states: “If your live stream is less than 12 hours long, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” YouTube also warns that a stream over 12 hours “may not be captured at all.” DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. These are qualified platform behaviors, not a guarantee that every shorter broadcast will be archived or every longer one lost. If retaining a complete replay matters, keep an independent recording or divide the broadcast into sessions. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance and DVR controls for live streams.
Respect copyright and YouTube rules
Use material you own or are licensed to stream, including music, footage, photographs, and documentary clips. YouTube identifies copyright matches and other policy issues as grounds for disabling live streaming. A repeated broadcast or cloud relay does not bypass those rules. Before scheduling a long loop, review the rights for every item in the playlist and the channel’s policy status. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions.

Common problems and fixes
- You cannot go live yet: verify that live streaming is enabled and phone verification is complete; first activation may need 24 hours. Confirm that the connecting account is the channel owner, as required by Restream’s setup guidance.
- Studio cannot see the camera or microphone: check browser permissions for the correct devices, make sure another application is not monopolizing them, and refresh Studio after changing access.
- The picture stalls or drops quality: check upload capacity and network stability. Restream recommends a wired connection and its stated upload guidance; close competing uploads and run another test.
- YouTube reports poor stream health: test the encoder’s output settings against YouTube’s supported settings. For an external encoder, verify RTMPS, constant bitrate, and a 2-second keyframe interval that does not exceed 4 seconds.
- The loop stops or does not appear live: check the playlist sequence, scheduled start time, YouTube channel authorization, and the actual YouTube status. Contact the service provider if its cloud job reports an error.
- The replay is incomplete or missing: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and DVR may be limited. Keep a separate recording or split the transmission when a complete archive is important.
- A stream is blocked or disabled: review YouTube notices and resolve any copyright or policy issue; changing to a relay service does not remove platform restrictions.
