For a live interview podcast with guests speaking in real time, use YouTube Live Control Room with a software or hardware encoder: verify the channel, schedule the broadcast, connect the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key, check the preview, then start the show. If by “continuous” you mean looping recorded interviews around the clock, that is a separate, unattended replay workflow—not an indefinitely running live conversation.
Choose the right kind of continuous stream
Decide whether your podcast is an interactive interview or a 24/7 replay of recorded episodes. They need different setups and have different continuity expectations.
| Workflow | What viewers see | Production and supervision |
|---|---|---|
| Live interview | Hosts and guests participate in real time; the broadcast runs for the planned show or session. | Use an encoder for a produced show with external microphones, cameras, graphics, or multiple audio inputs. A person should monitor the feed and respond to production problems. |
| Recorded-interview replay | Previously recorded episodes play in a loop as a continuous YouTube live stream. | Use a prerecorded-video replay workflow. YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streaming; that does not establish that it can keep an interactive interview going indefinitely. Check a service’s current features and terms before choosing it. |
If guests need to join and speak live, follow the interview workflow below. If the goal is to keep a channel playing recordings while nobody is hosting, use a replay workflow instead.
Check channel eligibility before production day
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. Streamers must be at least 16 years old. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your first scheduled show. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

Prepare the live interview in YouTube Studio
- Schedule or create the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and set up the upcoming broadcast. Allow time to check that the event appears on your channel and watch pages.
- Choose an encoder. An encoder is suited to shows using external audio or video equipment, multiple cameras or microphones, and a produced layout. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains the connection workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and key. Enter them in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it publicly, and reset it if you believe it has been exposed.
- Configure and preview the feed. Send the encoder output to YouTube, then check Live Control Room’s preview for picture, sound, and the correct event before starting the broadcast.
- Begin the show only after checks pass. Start the encoder and confirm the live feed is visible where viewers will watch it.
YouTube advises preparing the encoder stream at least two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the planned start. If you have a backup encoder, test failover in advance. Check the event on the channel and watch pages, including on a phone, and monitor audio and video during the broadcast. See YouTube’s live encoder troubleshooting and setup guidance.
Set video, audio, and transport settings
YouTube’s recommendations are starting points, not a substitute for testing your actual encoder and connection. For H.264, its guidance recommends the following bitrates for these two common 1080p formats:
Rank #2

| Output | Recommended H.264 video bitrate | Other relevant settings |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | CBR; AAC or MP3 audio; two-second keyframe interval recommended, not over four seconds |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | CBR; AAC or MP3 audio; two-second keyframe interval recommended, not over four seconds |
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Confirm the encoder is sending the intended resolution and frame rate, and use YouTube’s live encoder settings recommendations for the complete settings guidance; the table above is not a complete list of every supported format or bitrate.
Plan for upload bandwidth, not just download speed
The relevant connection speed is outbound upload capacity. YouTube advises keeping 20% headroom above the total bitrate. For example, a single video feed set to 5 Mbps needs at least 6 Mbps of available upload capacity under that guidance, before accounting for other traffic. If you send primary and backup streams, include both in the total bitrate calculation.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.

- Check upload performance on the connection and at the location you will use for the show.
- Reduce competing uploads and other traffic during the broadcast; a shared connection can leave less bandwidth for the encoder.
- If viewers or the encoder report interruptions, lower the output bitrate or resolution, improve the connection, or reduce network use before going live again.
These figures are YouTube’s published guidance; actual connection conditions can vary. YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance discusses bandwidth and stream stability.
Rehearse the interview audio and room setup
Clear speech depends on the number of speakers, room acoustics, and how guests connect. Choose microphones for those conditions; for multiple local microphones, a mixer may be part of the setup. Use headphones to listen to both voices and the outgoing mix. YouTube identifies microphones, headsets, and multi-microphone setups among the equipment used with encoders, but no particular model is required by its setup guidance.

Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, trigger a warning, interrupt the broadcast, or lead to termination. This can happen even when you have a licence: a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID for the stream not to be interrupted. Avoid unlicensed intro music, clips, and other third-party material, and arrange any needed rights and allowlisting before broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains the platform’s process.
YouTube’s live terms also require providers to hold the necessary rights and comply with applicable rules and regulations. These YouTube setup and platform requirements do not determine whether a particular show needs separate permissions or meets other legal obligations in India.
