PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo run rain sounds and lofi music as a 24/7 YouTube radio stream, clear the rights to every audio and visual element, confirm the channel can livestream, then send a continuous audio-and-video feed through an encoder such as OBS or FFmpeg. A still image is enough to provide video, but the encoder, internet connection, and recovery plan all need attention: no setup guarantees uninterrupted uptime.
1. Check that your channel can go live
Before preparing a long mix, verify the YouTube channel and check its live-stream eligibility in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s current requirements include channel verification, no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and a minimum age of 16. First-time activation can take time, so check Studio rather than assuming livestreaming will be available immediately. Live content must also follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance has the current details.
For a radio-style presentation, choose the encoder route in Live Control Room. It lets you send a composed scene with audio and a still or looping visual. Keep the stream key private: treat it like a password and never include it in a public screenshot, chat, or note.
2. Clear the rights to the complete mix
Make a rights inventory before assembling the stream. It should cover every lofi track, rain recording, sample, loop, and visual—not just the main music files. Owning a downloaded file or seeing it described as “no copyright” does not establish that you may use it in a livestream. For external catalogs, commissioned work, and original recordings, retain the applicable permission or license terms. This is a practical checklist, not legal advice.

Start with YouTube’s Audio Library
YouTube states: “Music and sound effects from the YouTube Audio Library are copyright-safe.” That statement applies to material from YouTube’s own Audio Library, not music found on unrelated channels or libraries. Check each track’s license details: some Creative Commons tracks require the supplied attribution in the video description, while tracks under the standard Audio Library license may not. YouTube’s Audio Library guidance explains the distinction.
Save a copy of any attribution text and the terms that apply to outside material. A long playlist or a continuous loop does not change the rights you need.
3. Build the rain-and-lofi sound and visual identity
Choose a focused listener use—such as quiet late-night reading or rainy-day study—and let it guide the track selection, station title, artwork, and chat tone. A defined mood helps the station feel coherent without implying any particular audience or performance result.

- Use an original or permissioned rain bed and a playlist of cleared lofi tracks.
- Listen through the full sequence, especially transitions between tracks and any return to the beginning. Adjust perceived loudness so one track does not suddenly overwhelm the next.
- Use a calm, legible visual. A still image keeps the scene simple; a subtle animation can add atmosphere. Both still need to be included in the video signal sent by the encoder.
- Check that the visual and sound remain appropriate when viewed or heard for an extended period. Production choices are yours; YouTube does not require a particular aesthetic.
4. Choose how to keep the stream running
The trade-off is between direct control and the work of keeping the equipment and connection available. A local computer is straightforward to inspect; a server process can run in the background but needs administration and monitoring. A cloud service is another option for avoiding a computer running at home.

| Route | Best suited to | Advantages | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Creators who want an uploaded-video YouTube stream to run from the cloud | Always on from the cloud, any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and the first day free | It streams uploaded videos to YouTube; it is not a camera-based live production workflow. Check the service details before choosing it. |
| Local computer + OBS | Creators who want a graphical control surface and direct access to scenes and audio sources | Convenient for arranging visuals, audio, and overlays in one production workspace | The computer, encoder, and internet connection must remain available. Plan how you will notice and recover from a failure. |
| Server + FFmpeg | Creators comfortable with command-line setup and process supervision | Can run in the background and be configured to restart after a failure | Requires server administration, media-input and stream-setting knowledge, logs, and monitoring. Restart logic does not guarantee uptime. |
For OBS, prepare a scene containing the visual and audio playlist, select YouTube as the service, enter the stream key from Studio, and test the outgoing feed. For a server workflow, the RadioTech Studio guide describes combining a radio audio source with a still or video loop in FFmpeg on a Linux server and running the process in the background with restart behavior. It is a third-party practical guide, not a YouTube guarantee or endorsement of a server provider: 24/7 Radio on YouTube Live with OBS & FFmpeg.
Whichever route you choose, compare the planned run time, setup skill, media flexibility, recovery behavior, dependency on your home upload or server, and how quickly you can respond to an outage. No option is established as cheapest or most reliable for every creator.

5. Set the encoder to a sustainable quality
Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance as the baseline, then test the connection you will actually use. YouTube recommends checking upload speed, choosing a quality the connection can sustain, testing with similar audio and video movement, and monitoring stream health. The settings below are YouTube’s listed H.264 examples, not a promise that a household connection will sustain them; leave upload headroom and test under representative conditions. YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions lists the current guidance.
| H.264 video setting | YouTube-listed minimum bitrate | YouTube-listed recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
YouTube’s encoder settings page supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant bitrate encoding. It recommends a 2-second keyframe interval, not exceeding 4 seconds, and stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. RTMPS is RTMP over an SSL connection and is a sensible default for ordinary user content; use the endpoint displayed in Studio. See Google’s RTMPS ingestion overview.

6. Test before announcing the station
- Create the broadcast: Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select the broadcast, and retrieve its stream key and ingestion details.
- Configure the encoder: In OBS or your FFmpeg workflow, set the YouTube destination and matching stream key. Confirm that the scene includes both the visual and the intended audio source.
- Run a representative test: Use a private or unlisted test where appropriate. Include audio and motion similar to what the live stream will use, as YouTube recommends.
- Check the viewer experience: Watch the feed on another device. Verify that audio is audible and consistent, the visual is not frozen unexpectedly, and the playlist transitions as intended.
- Check Live Control Room: Confirm the encoder is sending and inspect YouTube’s stream-health indicators before sharing the public broadcast.
Leave time to fix a wrong key or destination, a silent source, stuttering video, or a connection that cannot sustain the selected quality.
7. Monitor and recover during operation
A 24/7 stream depends on a working encoder process and a working connection. Monitor both the encoder and the YouTube feed; for an unattended server, configure logs and alerts as well as restart behavior. If the encoder stops, restart it and reconnect to the same broadcast when appropriate. If an outage requires a new broadcast, update the viewers who are trying to return to the stream.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes ongoing 24/7 feeds and the ability to create a separate broadcast from the same stream when required. That is a platform capability, not a prerequisite for a simple single-feed launch: YouTube Live Streaming API: Understanding Broadcasts and Streams. A laptop, home connection, server, or restart script should not be treated as a guarantee of uninterrupted availability.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many live streams can one YouTube channel run at once?
YouTube’s current Help page lists up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key; a single radio feed normally does not approach those limits.
Can I use a still image instead of animated video?
Yes. A still image can be the visual component, but the encoder still needs to send a video signal along with the audio.
Does YouTube’s Audio Library require attribution for every track?
No. Check the individual track license: some Creative Commons tracks require supplied attribution, while some standard Audio Library tracks do not.
