First, secure the rights. FFmpeg can loop and transmit Kannada film-song files, but it cannot grant permission to broadcast them. Once your permissions cover the recordings, territories, continuous live use and any archive you intend to keep, build and test a repeating playlist, send it to YouTube using the current ingest details, and arrange monitoring and recovery. A 24/7 stream is an operating plan—not something one FFmpeg command can guarantee.
Can you legally stream Kannada film songs?
Only if you have the necessary rights for the specific recordings and intended uses. YouTube’s livestream terms require rights to exploit live content, including applicable music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Confirm that written permission covers the relevant territories, continuous live transmission and whether YouTube may retain an archived version.
Owning a CD or digital download, finding a file online, crediting the artists, or running the stream without charge does not by itself establish permission to broadcast the recording. Rights can differ from song to song and territory to territory; do not assume one permission covers every recording in a playlist.
Ask about Content ID allowlisting
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, replace the stream with a placeholder, or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A stream may also be interrupted even when you have permission if the rights owner uses Content ID and your channel has not been added to that owner’s allowlist. Before launch, ask each relevant rights owner whether allowlisting is needed and get confirmation for the channel you will use.

What you need before setting up FFmpeg
- A cleared library: Keep a track-level record of the rights holder, territories, permission term, live-stream use, archive use and written permission.
- Readable media: Check that your installed FFmpeg build can read every file, and test the actual sequence you plan to broadcast.
- A YouTube channel and ingest details: In Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream and retrieve its stream URL and stream key. Prefer RTMPS when supported; YouTube recommends it as the encrypted version of RTMP.
- A stable upload connection and an always-on host: Your computer, server or other encoder must remain powered and connected for a local FFmpeg process to keep sending video.
- A recovery and monitoring plan: Plan who or what will notice a stopped process, failed connection, unavailable media file or YouTube interruption, and how it will be restarted.
Prepare a playlist FFmpeg can repeat
The FFmpeg concat demuxer can read a text file listing media inputs. Create a playlist file such as playlist.txt in the directory where you will run FFmpeg:
file 'song-01.mp4'
file 'song-02.mp4'
file 'song-03.mp4'
Use paths that resolve correctly from the working directory, and make sure every listed file is authorized for the stream. Filenames containing special characters need appropriate quoting or escaping for the concat file format. Test the list from beginning to end before using it on a public event.
Check compatibility and transitions
Concatenation is most straightforward when files have compatible stream layouts, codecs, time bases and timestamps. If tracks differ, simply joining them may fail or produce playback problems. Test the exact files with your FFmpeg build; if necessary, normalize or transcode them to a consistent format before relying on the playlist. Do not assume transitions will be gapless: listen to track changes and check the video output, including the end-to-start loop transition.

If the stream needs a visual throughout, decide what the viewer should see during every track: for example, an authorized video or a permitted visual slate. Check that all inputs provide the expected audio and video streams. Do not include artwork or footage unless you have the rights to use it too.
Loop the playlist and send it to YouTube
FFmpeg’s -stream_loop input option can repeat an input indefinitely when set to -1. Here is a stream-copy example for a playlist whose media is already compatible with the chosen YouTube ingest settings:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt
-c copy -f flv "$YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL/$YOUTUBE_STREAM_KEY"
Set YOUTUBE_RTMPS_URL to the RTMPS ingest URL shown for your stream in Live Control Room, and YOUTUBE_STREAM_KEY to that stream’s key. This example assumes the URL is the base ingest address and the key is appended as the stream path. Confirm the format shown for your event before connecting; use the current URL and key supplied by YouTube rather than copying connection details from an old session.

-re reads the media at approximately its intended playback rate, -stream_loop -1 repeats the concat input, and -c copy avoids re-encoding. Stream copy is appropriate only when the source streams already satisfy the ingest requirements, including supported codecs, resolution, frame rate, audio and keyframe cadence. It does not give you a way to correct an unsuitable source bitrate or keyframe interval. If the files do not meet the target settings, configure an encoder path instead and test the resulting output.
Keep the stream key private
Treat the stream key like a password. Avoid putting it in a script committed to a repository, a public log or a shared command history. Keep it in a protected environment variable or another access-controlled configuration, restrict access to the host, and reset the key in YouTube if you believe it has been exposed.

Use YouTube’s current encoder settings for the resolution and frame rate you intend to send. The published guidance covers supported ingest, codecs, audio and video settings; it recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval. Treat those as platform constraints, not universal fixed values for every stream.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Resolution and frame rate: Choose a target your source and stable upload connection can sustain. If you re-encode, set the output resolution and frame rate deliberately; do not assume the source files all match.
- Video bitrate: Select the value from YouTube’s current bitrate guidance for your chosen resolution and frame rate. There is no single bitrate that is correct for every output. Allow reliable upload headroom rather than planning around a connection’s occasional peak speed.
- Keyframes: Set the encoder’s keyframe interval to two seconds. In a re-encoding workflow, the corresponding GOP length in frames depends on the output frame rate; set it accordingly and verify the actual output.
- Video and audio codecs: Select codec and audio parameters supported by YouTube’s current settings. If using stream copy, inspect the media first; if re-encoding, configure both audio and video rather than leaving compatibility to chance.
- Transport: Use RTMPS when available in your encoder and for the event’s supplied ingest details.
Check YouTube’s current table when you select the output mode; settings can change and recommendations vary by resolution. Do not copy an old bitrate into a new stream without checking the target. FFmpeg options that claim a bitrate target do not make incompatible input media compliant unless you actually encode or otherwise prepare it appropriately.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test the complete stream before going public
- Create an unlisted or test stream in Live Control Room and use its current ingest URL and key.
- Start FFmpeg and check the Live Control Room preview. Confirm that both audio and video arrive and that the stream-health indicator reports an acceptable feed.
- Watch from a second device. Check the public-facing playback, volume, visual presentation and whether the stream remains available outside the encoder preview.
- Let the playlist run across several track changes. Check for silence, clipped starts, timestamp errors, missing video and unwanted gaps at the end-to-start loop.
- Test recovery deliberately. Confirm what happens after a temporary network interruption, FFmpeg exit or inaccessible source file, and verify that the operator or supervisor notices.
- Confirm permissions and allowlisting before launch. A successful technical preview does not establish music rights or prevent a later Content ID interruption.
Keep FFmpeg running—and plan for failures
A process running in a terminal is not an uptime system. The host can lose power or network access; a disk can fill; a file can become unreadable; the stream key can change; YouTube can interrupt the feed; and FFmpeg can exit on an error. Keep the host powered, check available storage, protect the playlist and media from accidental changes, and use a process supervisor or operator alerting so a stopped encoder is noticed.
FFmpeg’s FIFO muxer documents output recovery options, including retry attempts and waits between attempts. Those mechanisms can help with temporary output failures, but they do not fix a server outage, broken input, exhausted disk, lost credentials or platform-side interruption. Test recovery using the exact FFmpeg build, command and files you intend to use. Set a clear escalation path for problems the process cannot resolve on its own.

Plan YouTube sessions and archives separately
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not infer from that statement that one uninterrupted event will be archived, or handled, indefinitely. Check the current behavior and limits shown for your account and decide how the channel will operate: scheduled sessions, fresh events or another YouTube-supported arrangement. If an archive matters, confirm whether your music permissions cover retention and make a separate plan for preserving any permitted recording.
