To turn 4K/30fps footage into a 4K/60fps YouTube Live loop, use frame interpolation to generate intermediate frames, inspect the result for artifacts, then play the exported file on repeat in a streaming encoder configured for 4K at 60fps. Simply changing a file’s frame-rate label does not create new motion detail. Interpolation estimates what may have happened between captured frames, and can distort difficult movement.
What converting 30fps to 60fps actually does
A 30fps recording contains 30 captured frames per second. To play it at normal duration at 60fps, an interpolation tool estimates and generates an additional frame between each pair of source frames. This can make motion appear smoother, but it cannot recover detail the camera never recorded. Results depend on the footage and method; fast movement, occlusions, crossing objects or limbs, and erratic camera motion are especially likely to produce warping, tearing, ghosting, or other unnatural frames.
Changing only the frame-rate metadata is different: it does not synthesize intermediate images. Depending on the conversion, it may alter playback speed or duplicate frames rather than create smoother motion.
Convert the 4K source to 60fps
Choose an interpolation workflow
Use a video editor or frame-interpolation application that can keep the source’s 3840×2160 dimensions while exporting at 60fps. Topaz Video documents a “Convert to 60 FPS” preset that enables interpolation and defaults to Chronos Fast; a separate preset combines 4K output with 60fps. Preset names and defaults can change, so check the current Topaz frame-interpolation documentation and preset guidance before processing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Basic export steps
- Open the original 4K/30fps recording in the chosen application.
- Keep the output dimensions at 3840×2160 and preserve the intended playback duration.
- Set the output frame rate to 60fps and enable frame interpolation or a retiming mode that generates frames.
- Render a short representative section first if a full render would take substantial time or computing resources.
- Review the sample at normal speed and frame by frame, paying particular attention to fast motion, crossing elements, occlusions, and camera pans. If artifacts are distracting, try another method, reduce processing, or keep the source at 30fps.
- Check the audio. Topaz’s documented video interpolation enhancement is video-only and removes audio, so restore or remux the source audio separately if needed.
Using DaVinci Resolve
Blackmagic’s Resolve 18 guide describes Nearest, Frame Blend, and Optical Flow retiming. Optical Flow estimates motion to generate frames and can look smooth when movement is unobstructed, but Blackmagic notes that crossing elements and erratic camera motion can cause stretching or tearing. It is processor-intensive and may require caching. Resolve versions and interface labels can change; consult the DaVinci Resolve 18 reference manual for that version’s retiming details.
Judge the output using your actual footage rather than assuming that a particular model or preset will improve every scene.

Make the exported video repeat in OBS
- In OBS, add a Media Source and select the exported video file.
- Enable the source’s Loop property. OBS documents that Loop restarts the file when playback finishes; the option is off by default.
- Check the beginning and end of the file together. Looping repeats the file, but does not make its ending visually or audibly seamless. If there is a noticeable jump, adjust the edit or choose in/out points whose images and audio transition naturally.
OBS lists MP4, MOV, MKV, and other formats among its supported media formats. See the OBS Media Sources guide for current source options.
Set YouTube Live output for 4K at 60fps
The frame rate of the original file does not determine the stream’s output rate by itself. Configure the streaming software’s output deliberately for 3840×2160 at 60fps, then confirm its current settings against YouTube’s encoder guidance.

| Live output | YouTube recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 4K / 2160p at 60fps | 35 Mbps |
| 4K / 2160p at 30fps | 30 Mbps |
These are YouTube Help recommendations checked in 2026, not guarantees of a suitable connection or a measured bitrate for every encoder. The same YouTube table lists AV1/H.265 minimum and maximum settings of 10 and 40 Mbps for 4K/60, and 8 and 35 Mbps for 4K/30. Refer to YouTube’s live encoder settings for current recommendations.
- Codec and protocol: YouTube lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video and supports RTMP/RTMPS; it recommends RTMPS.
- Rate control: YouTube recommends CBR.
- Keyframes: Use a two-second interval as recommended; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Frame rate: YouTube supports up to 60fps.
- Latency: YouTube states that 4K streams cannot use the “improve for low latency” option and are set to normal latency.
- Connection: Ensure sustained upload capacity for the selected bitrate, with room for other network use. Test using representative motion and audio, then monitor YouTube’s stream health.
Upload the stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s stream settings without sharing it publicly. Stream keys identify where the encoder sends the broadcast; treat yours as a credential.

Check copyright and YouTube Live eligibility
Before looping a documentary, music, or other recorded program, make sure you have the necessary rights to stream every video and audio element. Permission to watch or download a work does not automatically grant permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube may restrict or interrupt a live stream when it detects third-party content; review YouTube’s live streaming requirements and encoder guidance and the platform’s copyright policies for your account and content. A technically successful loop does not itself establish that the channel or content complies with YouTube rules.
Troubleshoot common problems
- Motion looks warped or torn: Interpolation is struggling with occlusion, crossing movement, or camera motion. Test another interpolation method or less processing; if the defect remains distracting, use the original 30fps footage.
- The video looks like duplicated frames rather than smoother motion: Confirm that interpolation is enabled. A 60fps label alone does not generate intermediate frames.
- Audio is missing after export: Some video-only interpolation workflows remove audio. Restore the source audio as a separate track or remux it, then check sync and the loop boundary.
- The picture jumps when the file repeats: The end and beginning are not a seamless edit. Adjust the in/out points or edit the transition; the Loop setting only restarts playback.
- YouTube reports stream health problems: Check the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, codec, CBR mode, keyframe interval, and bitrate against YouTube’s current guidance. Also check whether sustained upload capacity is sufficient and run another test.
- The stream stops or cannot show the program: Check the YouTube Live setup and account status, stream key, and any copyright or content restrictions. Do not assume that a functioning encoder overrides platform restrictions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the 60fps file is ready and the goal is to keep a YouTube channel live without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos in the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.
