Apple’s three-month Apple Music offer is genuine, but it is not available to everyone. In the U.S., the free promotion is generally tied to a newly purchased eligible Apple device or audio product and is intended for new Apple Music subscribers. Apple’s signup page also shows a separate introductory offer of three months for $1.99, which is not free.
Before accepting any offer, check the device eligibility, redemption deadline, Apple Account, renewal date, and recurring price shown on the confirmation screen.

Quick eligibility checklist
You are most likely to see the three-month-free offer if all of the following apply:
- You are a new Apple Music subscriber for the applicable promotion.
- You recently purchased or received an eligible new Apple device, AirPods, or Beats product.
- The device has been set up or paired as required.
- Your iPhone or iPad is running the latest available supported operating system.
- The Apple Account being used has not already consumed the relevant offer.
- You are still within the offer’s redemption period.
Eligibility varies by country, promotion, device generation, purchase channel, and Apple’s current terms. Not every AirPods, Beats, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or Apple TV model necessarily qualifies. Check the offer displayed on your device rather than relying on an old model list.

Apple’s U.S. page currently lists regular prices of $11.99 per month for Individual, $19.99 for Family, and $6.99 for Student. Apple One starts at $19.95 per month. Prices and promotions can change, so use the amount shown at signup as the controlling information.
How to redeem the offer
New iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV
- Set up the new device.
- Sign in with the Apple Account that should own the Apple Music subscription.
- Install the latest available supported operating-system update.
- Open the Apple Music app.
- Look for the promotional banner or trial offer.
- Select the three-month-free offer if it is displayed.
- Confirm the subscription and billing information.
- Review the renewal date, plan, and recurring price before accepting.
- Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot of the subscription details.
AirPods or Beats headphones
- Update the iPhone or iPad to the latest available iOS or iPadOS version.
- Pair the eligible AirPods or Beats product with the iPhone or iPad.
- Open Apple Music.
- Sign in with the Apple Account intended for the trial.
- Accept the three-month offer when it appears.
- Check the renewal terms before confirming.
Apple describes the audio-device promotion as becoming available after pairing an eligible product with an iPhone or iPad. If no banner appears, pairing alone does not prove that the product qualifies.

For an eligible Apple Watch, redemption may take place on the iPhone connected to the watch. Pair the watch, update the iPhone, and check Apple Music on the iPhone for the offer. Apple Watch eligibility and the applicable U.S. terms should be verified in the live promotion.
How long do you have to redeem it?
Apple’s public U.S. page says the offer must be redeemed within three months after first activating the eligible device. Some promotional terms describe a similar period as 90 days after setup or pairing. The clock is tied to activation, setup, or pairing—not simply to the first time you open Apple Music.
Because the exact wording can vary by promotion and region, redeem promptly and confirm the deadline shown with the offer.
What happens after the free period?
Claiming the promotion starts a recurring Apple Music subscription. Before accepting, confirm:

- Whether the plan is Individual, Family, or another plan.
- The date the free period ends.
- The monthly renewal price.
- Which Apple Account is being billed.
- Whether billing is handled by Apple or another platform such as Google Play.
The free device offer may be limited to an Individual subscription and may not combine with Apple One or another trial. A Family plan can be shared with up to five other people, but do not assume that an Individual promotional trial automatically becomes a Family subscription.
If the offer does not appear
Try this recovery sequence:
- Confirm the Apple Account currently signed in under Settings → [your name].
- Check Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions for a current or expired Apple Music subscription.
- Update iOS or iPadOS.
- For AirPods or Beats, unpair and pair the product again.
- Open Apple Music directly instead of relying on a marketing email.
- Check the offer on the device originally used for setup or pairing.
- Review the purchase receipt and exact device model.
- Contact Apple Support if the account and device appear eligible but the offer remains missing.
Common explanations include previous Apple Music use, an ineligible model, an expired promotion, a different Apple Account being used, incomplete setup, a purchase from an uncovered region or channel, or viewing the separate $1.99 offer instead.
Do not create a second Apple Account to bypass eligibility. That can split your music library, billing history, Family Sharing arrangements, and account recovery information.
Important edge cases
Existing or previous subscribers
The free device promotion is described for new subscribers. A current subscriber should not expect a new AirPods or Apple device purchase to convert an existing subscription into a free trial. Previous trial use may also affect eligibility, although the precise rule depends on the live offer terms.
Secondhand or refurbished devices
A used device may not trigger the offer because its activation or pairing history may already have started or exhausted the promotional period. Refurbished-product eligibility should be checked directly in the displayed offer; do not assume that “refurbished” qualifies simply because the device is new to you.
Gifts
A gift may qualify if the device is eligible and its promotion has not already been claimed or exhausted. The decisive factors are generally the device’s activation history and the Apple Account used for redemption, not merely who paid for it.

Android users
You may be able to use Apple Music on Android, but an offer triggered by pairing AirPods, Beats, or an Apple device may require redemption through an iPhone or iPad. If billing is through Google Play, cancellation must be handled there.
How to cancel before being charged
Cancel before the displayed renewal date if you do not want the subscription to continue.

- Open Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Apple Music.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
If there is no Cancel button or an expiration message is displayed, Apple says the subscription is already canceled.
Mac
- Open the App Store.
- Click your name.
- Choose Account Settings.
- Under Subscriptions, select Manage.
- Select Apple Music and click Cancel Subscription.
Windows
- Open the Apple Music app.
- Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Choose View My Account.
- Scroll to Settings and click Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Find Apple Music, click Edit, and choose Cancel Subscription.
Android
If Apple Music is billed through Google Play, cancel it in Google Play subscriptions. If Apple bills you directly, use Apple’s account-management instructions. Apple’s current cancellation guide is available at support.apple.com/en-us/118428.
Cancellation warning: Promotional terms can differ. Some Apple terms state that canceling during a free period may end access immediately and forfeit the remaining time. Check the cancellation confirmation carefully before proceeding; do not assume that canceling always preserves access until the scheduled end date.

No. Three months of Apple Music is worth far less than an iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or pair of headphones. Treat the promotion as a bonus on a device you already planned to buy, not as a reason to purchase hardware. If you are already shopping for AirPods or Beats, check the exact model’s live offer before paying.

Avoid unofficial coupon pages, trial-code sellers, and “free Apple Music generator” sites. Use Apple’s official pages and the offer shown in the Apple Music app.

Apple says Apple Music includes more than 100 million songs and has zero ads. Apple Music Classical is included with Individual, Family, Student, and Apple One plans. These service features do not change the eligibility or renewal rules for the promotional trial.

Can an existing Apple Music subscriber claim the three-month-free offer?
Usually not. The device-linked promotion is intended for new subscribers, and previous use may affect eligibility. Check the live terms associated with your offer.
Can I share the free trial with my family?

How do I find which Apple Account is being billed?
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On other platforms, open Apple Music or the relevant app-store account settings and review the subscription details.
