For a complete rebrand, change your Twitch Username in Settings → Profile Settings; this changes your login name and channel URL. If you only want different capitalization or public presentation, edit Display Name instead.

Your username is the underlying Twitch account name used for login and your channel address. Display Name controls how the name appears on your profile, channel, messages and live directories; it does not create a second username. How to change your Twitch username
Use Twitch’s web account-settings procedure. Menu wording can vary slightly by account or interface version.
- Sign in to Twitch and open Settings.
- Open Profile Settings.
- In the Username row, select the Edit icon.
- Enter the new name. Twitch shows a green checkmark when it is available.
- Confirm your password.
- Select Verify to submit the change.
Twitch may take several minutes to propagate the new name across the site. The complete policy is documented at Twitch’s username rename and recycling policies.

Check these requirements first
- Your email address must be verified.
- At least 60 days must have passed since your last username change.
- You must not be actively broadcasting.
- No VOD upload can be pending.
- The username must be at least four characters long and available.
- You must know the account password to confirm the change.
How to change only your Twitch display name
- Open Settings → Profile Settings.
- Find Display Name, not Username.
- Enter the capitalization or presentation you want and save the setting.
This changes the name viewers see but does not change the account username, login name or channel URL. It is the safer choice when you want a visual adjustment without the username cooldown and link changes.
What changes after a username rename?
Things that change
- Your login username changes.
- Your channel URL uses the new username.
- The username shown with streams and videos changes.
- New subscribers see the new subscription name.
- Some third-party services may need to be reconnected or updated.
The old channel URL may not redirect, so do not leave old links in place.

- Followers and followed channels
- Views and channel history
- Subscriptions, subscribers and channel points
- Emotes, Drops and tenure
- Account settings, privacy options, connections and other benefits
- Prior enforcement actions
Twitch says Affiliates and Partners do not lose revenue from a username change. Long-time subscribers may temporarily see the former username on invoices.

Twitch warns that some applications may not recognize the account after a rename. Reauthorize the service if needed, check whether it uses your immutable Twitch user ID rather than your old username, and contact its developer if recognition still fails.
Stream-key precaution
Before going live again, test the broadcasting software. Twitch notes that you may need to regenerate the stream key if Twitch or the software reports a credential problem; regeneration is not necessarily required for every account.

Emote-prefix precaution
Your emote prefix does not automatically update with the username. Partners may be able to request a prefix change, but do not assume existing emote codes will be renamed.

- Verify the account email.
- Confirm that 60 days have passed since the previous username change.
- End any active broadcast.
- Wait for pending VOD processing to finish.
- Check the spelling and availability of the requested name.
- Use a current desktop browser and the web account-settings path rather than assuming the app exposes identical controls.
- Sign out and back in, or try a fresh browser session.
- If you are a Partner seeking a prior-name exception, contact Twitch Support.
A name may be unavailable because another user owns it, Twitch has not released an inactive name, it belongs to a banned channel, or Twitch has withheld it for policy reasons. Twitch generally assigns names first-come, first-served, but may transfer, reclaim, change or remove names involving trademark infringement or active impersonation. It does not disclose details about terms-of-service-banned accounts to people requesting those names.

Inactive names are not automatically free
An apparently unused account does not guarantee availability. Twitch retains discretion over recycling and banned-name exclusions.
Can you change back or swap usernames?
Changing back
For non-Partner accounts, another 60-day interval applies before a further change. Twitch does not immediately reserve or restore the former name, and an abandoned name may take at least 180 days before it becomes available for self-service reclamation; that is a minimum policy window, not a guaranteed release date. Twitch Support does not normally reverse an accidental change. Partners may have a one-time Support benefit for changing back to a previous username.
Swapping names between accounts
No. Twitch does not support exchanging usernames between two accounts, even when both accounts belong to you. Attempting to arrange a swap with another account owner can put both usernames at risk, and the recycling delay makes the rename-one-account-then-claim-it workaround unreliable.
Old links and Google results
Replace links under your control and ask third-party sites to update pages that show the former name. Search engines need time to recrawl those pages, and Twitch cannot remove Google results for the old username or guarantee that they disappear immediately.
Before you select Verify
- Check spelling, capitalization and pronunciation.
- Make sure the name fits your social handles, domain and other branding.
- Consider whether it could be confused with another creator or brand.
- Check for possible trademark or impersonation concerns.
- Confirm that you can update every external link and connected tool.
- Wait until you are offline and all VOD uploads are complete.
Twitch can change labels and eligibility rules, so the web procedure described here may not look identical in every app, country or account type.
