The right way to cancel Disney+ depends on who bills you. If Disney+ bills you directly, cancel in a web browser at DisneyPlus.com. If Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, a wireless carrier, or a cable provider bills you, you usually need to cancel through that company instead.
Before starting, open your Disney+ account settings and check the plan, next billing date, subscription status, payment method, and—when shown—the billing partner. This prevents the most common problem: trying to cancel in Disney+ when another company controls the subscription.

How to cancel Disney+ if Disney bills you directly
For a subscription purchased directly from Disney+, use a computer or mobile web browser rather than relying on the app:
- Go to DisneyPlus.com and sign in.
- Select your Profile.
- Open Account.
- Under Subscription, select your Disney+ subscription.
- Choose Cancel Subscription.
- Follow the prompts until Disney confirms the cancellation.
Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot of the confirmation screen. Also note the date shown for the end of your current subscription term. A successful cancellation normally stops the next renewal; it does not usually end access immediately. Disney says direct-billed subscribers can continue streaming until the end of the current paid term, whether that term is monthly, annual, or promotional.

Do not assume that canceling automatically creates a prorated refund. Disney’s cancellation guidance does not say that every cancellation receives one. Review the terms shown during cancellation and contact Disney Support if you believe a refund issue needs review.
Check the billing provider before you cancel
In Disney+ account settings, look for the name of the company handling billing. Depending on how you subscribed, that may be Disney, Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Hulu, Kroger, Max, Roku, Spectrum, Total Wireless, Verizon, Xfinity, or another authorized partner. The available plans and cancellation rules can vary by partner.
If Disney+ does not show a Cancel Subscription button, that is an important clue—not necessarily a service error. The subscription may be controlled by a third party. Use the matching path below.
How to cancel Disney+ through Apple
If Apple bills your Disney+ subscription, cancel it through Apple’s subscription controls:
- On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Disney+.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Apple also provides subscription management through account.apple.com and equivalent controls on other Apple platforms. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account that originally purchased Disney+.
If there is no Cancel Subscription button, or Apple displays an expiration message, Apple says the subscription is already canceled. Record the expiration date and keep the confirmation for your records.
How to cancel Disney+ through Google Play
For a Google Play-billed subscription:
- Open Google Play’s subscriptions area.
- Select Disney+.
- Choose Manage.
- Select Cancel subscription.
- Complete the confirmation steps.
Use the Google Account that holds the subscription. Google explicitly warns that uninstalling the Disney+ app does not cancel the subscription. Removing the app only removes the software from the device; it does not stop recurring billing.

Google generally allows access through the period already paid for after cancellation, although refund eligibility can depend on the circumstances and Google’s policies. Check the final access date shown after you cancel.

If Amazon appears as the billing provider, manage the subscription from Amazon rather than the Disney+ cancellation page:
- Open Amazon’s Memberships and Subscriptions page in a web browser.
- Sign in to the Amazon account used to subscribe.
- Find Disney+ in the list.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- Follow Amazon’s confirmation prompts.
If Disney+ directs you to Amazon, or Amazon appears in your account’s billing details, use Amazon’s subscription-management page. Do not start a second subscription through Disney+ while trying to cancel the first one; that can create separate billing records.
Roku and Disney+: an important billing distinction
Roku’s guidance can be confusing because Roku has subscription controls, but it specifically directs Disney+ subscribers to Disney+ for management, cancellation, and billing questions—even when the service is accessed through a Roku device.
First determine whether Disney+ itself or Roku is listed as the billing provider. Roku says subscriptions managed directly by Roku can be reviewed at my.roku.com/subscriptions. However, Roku’s support guidance separately says Disney+, Hulu, and Sling subscriptions should be managed or canceled through the relevant service.

Subscriptions from Verizon, Spectrum, Xfinity, or another provider
If Disney+ came with a wireless, cable, television, or household bundle, cancel through the provider identified in your Disney+ account or billing statement. Disney lists providers including Spectrum, Total Wireless, Verizon, and Xfinity among its third-party billing partners.

There is no single universal menu path for these providers. Depending on the offer, you may need to:
- open the provider’s website or mobile app and manage entertainment subscriptions;
- remove Disney+ from a wireless or television plan;
- contact the provider’s customer service team; or
- review what happens to the rest of a bundle before accepting the change.
Keep the provider’s confirmation number or email. If Disney+ still shows an active subscription afterward, contact the company that appears as the billing provider; Disney says third-party-billed customers generally need to resolve billing and cancellation issues with that partner.

What happens after you cancel Disney+?
Cancellation usually prevents the next renewal rather than cutting off service on the day you cancel. For direct Disney+ subscriptions, access normally continues until the end of the current subscription term. Google Play and applicable Roku subscription guidance likewise describe continued access through the paid billing period.
Check the result rather than relying on an assumption. After cancellation, look for one of these indicators:
- an expiration date instead of a next billing date;
- a message saying the subscription will not renew;
- a canceled or inactive status; or
- a confirmation email from the billing provider.
If the next renewal date remains unchanged, the cancellation may not have completed. Do not wait until the renewal date to investigate.
Be careful with Disney+ bundles
If your plan includes Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, or another add-on, read the plan details before confirming cancellation. Canceling Disney+ does not always cancel the entire bundle.
Disney says that when an original subscription was upgraded to a bundle, canceling that original subscription does not necessarily cancel the bundle. A Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle may continue uninterrupted, although an associated credit could end. Similarly, pausing a bundle can affect the other included services.

Before selecting the final confirmation button:
- Open Profile > Account.
- Select the plan or subscription shown under Subscription.
- Read whether the plan is standalone or bundled.
- Check which services, credits, and prices will remain after the change.
Do not tell yourself that canceling Disney+ always cancels Hulu or ESPN. The result depends on the exact plan and the way it was purchased.
Pause Disney+ instead of canceling
A pause may suit you if you are taking a temporary break and want to avoid setting up the subscription again. Disney currently offers pausing for some monthly subscriptions billed directly by Disney+.
For an eligible plan:
- Sign in to DisneyPlus.com in a browser.
- Open Profile > Account.
- Select the subscription.
- Choose Pause Subscription.
- Select the available pause duration and confirm.
The pause takes effect on the first day of the next billing period, so you can continue streaming until then. Not every plan qualifies, and third-party billing partners may not offer the same option. If you have a bundle, pausing Disney+ may also pause the other included services.

Canceling your subscription stops or prevents recurring charges. It does not delete your Disney+ account or the MyDisney account used for other Disney services.
Account deletion is a separate, permanent process. Disney says it removes Disney+-specific information such as profiles, watch lists, privacy settings, and marketing preferences. If you are directly billed by Disney, cancel the active subscription before requesting account deletion. If a third party bills you, cancel with that billing partner first.
Do not delete the account as a way to cancel billing. Disney warns that deleting the account before canceling can remove your ability to manage the subscription through DisneyPlus.com or the app, while a third-party subscription could continue charging.
Can you restart Disney+ after canceling?
Disney says a recently canceled subscription can be restarted before the current subscription term ends:

- Open Profile > Account.
- Select Restart Subscription.
- Agree to the confirmation.
Once the current term ends, Disney says the previous subscription is fully canceled and no longer available for restart. You would then need to subscribe again, subject to the plans and pricing available at that time.
Disney+ cancellation troubleshooting checklist
- No cancellation button: Check the billing provider, plan, status, and upcoming billing date in Account settings.
- You subscribed on an iPhone: Check Apple Subscriptions; using an iPhone does not by itself prove Apple is the billing provider.
- You downloaded Disney+ through Google Play: Open Google Play subscriptions. Do not rely on uninstalling the app.
- You use Roku: Distinguish between watching through a Roku device and being billed by Roku.
- You have a bundle: Read the displayed bundle terms and check what happens to Hulu, ESPN, credits, or other services.
- You deleted the app or account: App deletion does not stop billing, and account deletion is not a substitute for cancellation.
- You canceled but still see a renewal: Save the confirmation, check the billing provider’s account, and contact that provider or Disney Support as appropriate.
- You cannot access the account: Recover the account used for billing or inspect your bank, card, Apple, Google, Amazon, or provider statement to identify the company charging you.
After any cancellation, retain the confirmation email, screenshot, date, and provider name. These details are useful if a renewal charge appears later.
