Put your current opening hours and essential store details directly into the promo-loop video so viewers can read them throughout the YouTube Live stream. Then send that prepared video through an encoder, schedule the event in YouTube Studio if you want a shareable event page, and check the details in the preview before going live.
What to put in the promo loop
Make the information part of the video itself, not something viewers have to find in a description or wait for between promotional messages. Keep the hours and store name prominent; include the address or location when it helps people find you, plus a concise way to get more information.
- Store name, spelled and styled consistently.
- Current opening hours, including any relevant holiday or temporary changes.
- Address or location details appropriate to the audience.
- A verified phone number or web address if customers need a next step.
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming and overlays, but it does not prescribe a graphics editor or a specific design for store information. The layout and readability decisions are yours.
Prepare a readable video loop
Verify the details before export
Confirm the hours with the people responsible for the store schedule. Check spelling, address, phone number, and web address, and update the video when hours change. YouTube does not verify business details shown in a stream.

Keep the key information visible
Place the hours and store name in a persistent, high-contrast area of the composition. Make the promotional message secondary, and leave enough visual breathing room for the details to be read at a glance. Review the exported video on the screen sizes and formats you expect viewers to use.
Check the loop and aspect ratio
Watch the video through its restart and look for abrupt transitions. YouTube supports horizontal and vertical viewing formats; viewers in the Shorts feed see the vertical version, while other viewers see horizontal. If you use the dual-format workflow, check both compositions to ensure the hours and store name remain visible. YouTube says the vertical version cannot be added after the stream has started, so choose and test formats beforehand. (YouTube: Get started with live streaming)

Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; streamers must be at least 16 years old. Review the current requirements on YouTube’s live-streaming help page.
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create > Go Live, open Manage, then choose Schedule stream. Create a new event or reuse settings, following YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Share the event page. Scheduling creates an event URL you can share in advance and lets viewers set reminders. Add the link wherever customers will look for store updates.
- Decide the presentation format before starting. If you intend to use both horizontal and vertical presentation, check that the information fits both before the broadcast begins.
Connect an encoder and start the loop
YouTube identifies mobile, webcam, encoder, and console as distinct streaming methods. For a prepared video loop with overlays, use an encoder workflow; YouTube’s help describes encoders as a way to stream overlays and use audio/video hardware.
- Open the scheduled stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and locate its stream connection details.
- In your encoder, select YouTube if it is offered. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key from Studio into the encoder’s server and stream-key fields. Keep the stream key private.
- Start the encoder so it sends the prepared loop to YouTube.
- Wait for the stream preview in Live Control Room. Check that the video is moving, the loop restarts cleanly, and the store details are legible.
- When the preview is ready, click Go live in Live Control Room.
- When the promotion is over, click End Stream in YouTube and stop sending from the encoder.
For recurring broadcasts, Google’s API documentation distinguishes the broadcast—the event or video viewers watch—from the stream—the audio/video transmission settings. A stream configuration can be reused for recurring broadcasts; separate streams can be useful when events need to run simultaneously. A store running one loop does not need API setup. Test before promoting the event
Google recommends testing the complete setup as a private stream, including the internet connection, framing, audio, and lighting. For a promo loop, also confirm the business details are readable in the stream preview and that the video restarts without an unwanted gap or transition. You can use Google’s Live Streaming Guide as a general checklist.
- Verify the hours, address, and contact details against the current store information.
- Check that the encoder is connected and the preview displays the intended video.
- Confirm the text remains readable in the chosen viewing format.
- Watch through a full loop restart before making the event public.
