To add Disney+ to Roku, open Home, go to Streaming Store or Store, search for Disney+, select the official app and choose Add app. Then open it and sign in, activate with the code or QR option shown on screen, or sign up. Installing the app is free; streaming requires a subscription.
Before you start
- Connect your Roku to the internet and link it to an active Roku account.
- Check that your Roku model is supported. Disney+ is available on Roku, but compatibility depends on the model and territory; do not assume an older Roku works. Check Disney’s supported Roku models and supported-device information.
- Have access to the email address for the Disney+ account you intend to use. If you are subscribing during setup, have a payment method ready.
- Install the latest Roku system software and Disney+ app update available for your device.
Add Disney+ from the Roku remote
- Press Home on the Roku remote.
- Open Streaming Store or Store. On some Roku interfaces, you can also use Search.
- Search for Disney+ and select the official Disney+ app listing.
- Choose Add app and wait for installation to finish.
- Press Home. The new app is generally added at the bottom of the app list. Select Disney+ and press OK to open it.
Roku documents app installation through its Streaming Store; the menu label can vary by interface.
Sign in or activate an existing Disney+ account
Sign in with your account
Choose the sign-in option in the Disney+ app and use the email and password for the Disney+ account. If you subscribed through another provider, use the account credentials or sign-in instructions associated with that provider. Roku says the sign-in process is generally the same whether the subscription was purchased directly or through Roku; billing and account-management questions belong with the billing provider. See Roku’s app sign-in guidance.
Use the QR code or activation code
- In Disney+, choose Log In or the equivalent option.
- Use the activation method shown by the app: scan its QR code, or open the displayed activation address on a phone or computer.
- Sign in to the intended Disney+ account and enter the code if the page requests it.
- Return to the Roku. The app should refresh and show Disney+ content.
Disney’s TV-device sign-in instructions describe QR and web activation, including DisneyPlus.com/begin. Use the address presented by the official app, not an unfamiliar third-party activation site.

Subscribe through Roku or Disney
If you already have Disney+ through Disney or another provider, sign in rather than starting another subscription. Adding the app does not itself create a paid account. If you want to subscribe, you can choose a plan in the Disney+ app or, for eligible setup flows, subscribe through Roku.
Sign up through the Disney+ app on an activated Roku
- Open Disney+ and choose Sign up now or the plan option shown.
- Enter the email address and account details requested, review the plan, and confirm the purchase.
- If you are subscribing through Roku, review and accept Roku Pay terms before completing the transaction.
If the app offers only a login instead of plans, Disney says a MyDisney account may already be associated with that email. Its Roku signup and billing guidance explains the signup flow, including the option to subscribe during a new Roku’s setup.

Choose who bills you
Direct Disney billing keeps subscription management with Disney and may offer plan or bundle choices that are not available through Roku billing. Roku billing can be convenient if you want payment handled through your Roku account, but plan availability and cancellation arrangements differ. Disney says Roku-billed subscribers cannot switch to a bundle through Roku billing; a bundle can instead be purchased directly from Disney using the existing MyDisney login.
For U.S. customers, Disney’s pricing page showed these standalone prices on August 16, 2026: Disney+ with ads, $11.99 per month; Disney+ Premium without ads, $18.99 per month; and Premium annual, $189.99 per year. Prices and plan availability can change, and third-party billing prices may differ. Check Disney’s current pricing page before subscribing. Disney’s getting-started guidance says Disney+ does not offer a free trial.

Add Disney+ from the Roku website or mobile app
Remote installation is useful when searching with the TV remote is inconvenient. Roku says apps added to an account may be installed on other Roku devices linked to that account, so consider which devices share the account.
From Roku’s website
- Open the Roku Streaming Store and sign in to the Roku account linked to your device.
- Search for Disney+, open the official listing and choose Add app.
- If it does not appear on the TV, use Settings > System > System update > Check now on the Roku.
From the Roku mobile app
- Open the official Roku mobile app and go to its app Store, categories, recommendations or search.
- Find the official Disney+ listing, open it and select Add.
- If the app is not yet on the TV, run the Roku system update check using the path above.
Installing through the mobile app changes where you add the Roku app, not which Disney+ account or subscription you use.

If Disney+ is missing or not visible
- Check device compatibility: Look up the specific Roku model in Disney’s supported-device information. If it is unsupported, the app may not be installable.
- Update Roku software: Go to Settings > System > System update > Check now, then search again.
- Check the app name: Search for Disney+, not Disney Channel, DisneyNOW or Disney Junior.
- Check the Home screen: A newly added app may be at the bottom of the app list. Move it higher using the Roku app-reordering controls if desired.
- Account or region: Availability can vary by country and account region. Do not change the Roku account region casually; it can affect account and billing details.
If Disney+ will not open or play
- Check whether other Roku apps can connect and play. This helps distinguish a Disney+ issue from a broader Roku connection problem.
- Restart the Roku, then check for system updates at Settings > System > System update.
- If Disney+ displays an update prompt or streaming will not start, follow Disney’s Roku-specific direction to update through Home > Settings > System > System Update. See Disney’s playback and app-update guidance.
- If the problem continues, remove Disney+, restart the Roku, reinstall the app from the Streaming Store and sign in again. Reinstallation is a troubleshooting attempt, not a guaranteed fix, and may clear local app state and require authentication again.
If activation fails or you see duplicate charges
Activation code does not work
- Return to the app’s sign-in screen to generate a fresh code if the displayed one may have expired.
- Use only the activation address shown in the official Disney+ app, and verify that you are signing in to the intended account.
- Check the email carefully; browser autofill may enter a different address. If activation appears complete but Roku does not update, close and reopen Disney+ or restart the Roku.
You may be paying twice
Compare the email signed into Disney+ with your Disney+ account billing details, Roku purchase history and email receipts. Duplicate subscriptions can occur if a person subscribes once through Disney and again through Roku, or uses different email addresses. The app installation itself is not a second subscription.
Manage billing, change plans or cancel
| Who bills the subscription | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Disney | Manage the subscription in the Disney+ account. |
| Roku | Use Disney’s documented Roku account route and Roku’s subscription guidance. Roku notes that some services, including Disney+, may direct subscribers to the service provider for subscription management or cancellation. |
| Another provider | Contact that provider or follow its account-management instructions. |
The billing party matters even when you watch through the Roku app. Check the receipt or account billing page before changing plans or canceling.

If your Roku model is not supported
If Disney+ does not support the specific Roku, use the app on another supported TV-connected platform, a compatible smart TV or game console, or connect a computer to the TV with HDMI. AirPlay may also be an option where supported. Disney lists platform categories, but exact model, operating-system, feature and territory support should be checked in its supported-device information before relying on an alternative.
