Put your tracks in an FFmpeg concat playlist, loop that input if needed, and explicitly map its audio alongside your video or visual source. Before streaming, make the playlist files compatible, match YouTube’s current ingest settings, test the transitions, and confirm you have rights for live use.
1. Prepare the audio playlist
Create a plain-text file such as playlist.txt with one file directive per track, in the order you want them to play. Use paths that the machine running FFmpeg can access:

file '/path/to/track-3.mp3'Keep both the playlist file and the audio files available to the FFmpeg process. If you use paths containing special characters or quotes, check the concat demuxer’s syntax and escape them appropriately.
2. Check whether the tracks can be concatenated cleanly
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer presents listed files as one sequential input and adjusts timestamps between them. It expects each file to have the same streams, codecs, and time bases. Files that differ can fail or create artifacts; inaccurate durations or unequal stream lengths can cause gaps. See the FFmpeg concat demuxer documentation.

If the tracks do not have compatible properties, normalize or transcode them to a consistent format before concatenating. Then listen through the transitions rather than assuming that a successful command guarantees gap-free playback. Stream copying is suitable only when the inputs meet the concat requirements.
3. Decide whether the playlist should repeat
For an input that should repeat indefinitely, use FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option before the input it applies to. For example, the playlist input can be written as:

-stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt-stream_loop 0 means no repeat. These are input options, so their position matters. The FFmpeg command-line documentation describes stream looping and input selection.
4. Map the playlist audio to your visual source
When the video or image source and playlist are separate inputs, use explicit -map options. For example, -map 0:v:0 -map 1:a:0 selects the first video stream from input 0 and the first audio stream from input 1. Adjust the input numbers if your command uses a different order. Explicit mapping helps prevent FFmpeg from choosing unintended audio automatically.

5. Configure FFmpeg for YouTube Live
In YouTube Live Control Room, retrieve the RTMPS ingest URL and stream key, then use them as the output destination. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP. Keep the stream key secret. Its current encoder settings and bitrate guidance lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 for video and AAC or MP3 for audio over RTMP/RTMPS. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval, no more than four seconds, constant bitrate (CBR), and 44.1 kHz for stereo audio. Video bitrate recommendations vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec, so select the applicable row in YouTube’s table rather than copying a generic value.
This command shows the overall shape; replace the inputs, bitrate, keyframe value, and destination with settings suitable for your actual sources, installed FFmpeg build, and YouTube configuration:

The command is illustrative, not a tested universal recipe: source duration, timestamps, whether a visual input itself needs looping, encoder availability, and the selected video bitrate all need to fit your setup. Confirm your installed FFmpeg build supports the chosen encoder and that the keyframe setting represents a two-second interval at your output frame rate.
6. Test before going live
YouTube recommends testing with audio and motion similar to the real stream and monitoring stream health. Check that the intended video and playlist audio reach the output, the music is audible, and transitions do not have cuts or gaps. Make sure your upload connection can sustain the bitrate you selected. Consult YouTube’s live encoder guidance for the applicable bitrate and stream settings.

7. Confirm music rights for live streaming
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A persistent match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A music license does not necessarily prevent that interruption: YouTube says a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams, and confirm that your permission covers live use, territories, monetization, and any allowlisting requirement before you broadcast.
