Add the subject graphic in the scene that builds your stream’s final picture: use editable text or a prepared image for information that stays fixed, and a browser source when a suitable page or data feed needs to update it. Place it where it identifies the lesson without covering teaching material, then test both the live output and the saved recording. An overlay does not, by itself, keep playback running, restart a failed stream, or ensure recordings are saved unattended.
Choose what the overlay needs to show
Decide which information viewers need to identify the current lesson. It might be a subject, course, lesson title, or instructor. Then determine whether those details remain the same or change during the broadcast; that choice affects how you build and update the graphic.
- Fixed information: a prepared image or editable text label can identify a lesson or a program that does not change often.
- Information that changes manually: prepare clearly labeled graphics or text sources, or use separate scenes, and have an operator select the correct one.
- Information that changes from a web page or data feed: a browser source may work if your workflow provides a suitable page. Test how and when it refreshes; a ready-made curriculum-schedule integration is not established by the documentation discussed here.
First confirm where the program picture is composed—OBS, Vimeo’s in-browser production studio, Livestream Studio, or another system. The controls and behavior are platform-specific, so do not assume that instructions or restart behavior transfer between products.
Add and position the subject graphic
In OBS Studio
OBS composes its output from scenes and sources. Its official overview describes sources including images and text, alongside items such as a window, capture card, game, or display. Add the chosen graphic or label to the scene used for the program. The overview does not provide a current, step-by-step procedure for setting up a browser source, so check the interface in the version installed rather than relying on unverified menu labels.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
In Vimeo’s production tools
Vimeo says its in-browser production studio supports lower-third graphics. Its help information also describes a recurring-event detail worth checking: graphics can be retained between virtual events but do not automatically appear on every stream. The operator still needs to show or hide them during the scene.
Vimeo’s Livestream Studio help describes three graphics overlay channels and the option to add a prebuilt template or create a custom graphic or layer. Confirm which Vimeo product and production workflow you are using before following product-specific steps.

Keep the graphic out of the teaching area
Place and size the overlay in the actual program composition at the intended output resolution. Check it over representative slides, demonstrations, captions, and light and dark footage. The cited official pages do not establish education-specific safe margins, sizes, or accessibility rules; treat placement as a design decision to validate in your own material, not as a prescribed standard.
Make subject changes reliable
For occasional changes, label each prepared image or text source so an operator can identify the right subject quickly. If using scenes, confirm that changing scenes also preserves the rest of the program composition. For automated or data-driven changes, test refresh timing and what viewers see if the page or feed is unavailable or stale.

Run the change process as it will actually be used: switch the subject during a representative lesson, inspect the program output, and confirm the saved recording shows the same correct label. Do not assume that a saved graphic is active after a restart or on the next recurring event.
Test stream continuity and recording separately
A subject overlay is only one part of a 24/7 production. Confirm the stream output and recording path independently. OBS’s official overview notes that advanced output mode can configure streaming and recording separately; this is a reminder to check both outputs rather than proof that either will continue or recover unattended.

- Preview a representative lesson and verify the correct subject label is legible and does not obscure instructional content.
- Confirm the live stream contains the graphic and that the recording is saved to the intended destination.
- Test how the subject changes, including the result of an incorrect selection or a delayed update.
- Test the real restart and recovery procedure before leaving the deployment unattended. The platform-specific restart behavior, recording retention, and an end-to-end 24/7 architecture depend on your setup and are not established by the general product guidance described here.
Optional third-party OBS playout plugin
A third-party 24/7 Playout Plugin for OBS describes playlist or rundown playback, loop mode, autostart or resume, and transparent browser overlays. Its repository identifies a Windows x64 release and recommends OBS Studio 32.x or a compatible version. This is third-party software, not a requirement for adding a subject label. Before installing it, verify the current release, OBS compatibility, security, and suitability for your institution’s operational requirements. The repository description alone does not establish uptime or security suitability.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your recorded education stream is for YouTube, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping uploaded videos live 24/7: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. This does not replace creating and testing the subject overlay in your video composition. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
