To link it, open Pluto TV on the PS4, generate the on-screen code, visit pluto.tv/activate, sign in to your Pluto TV account, and enter that code. Activating a PS4 as your primary PlayStation 4 is a separate Sony setting and normally is not part of Pluto TV sign-in.
Before you start
- Check that your PS4 and PlayStation account are in a region where Pluto lists PS4 support. Pluto’s device table places Sony PlayStation availability under the United States-only section: Pluto TV supported devices.
- Connect the PS4 to the internet and have access to the email address and password for the intended Pluto TV account.
- Keep a phone or computer nearby for QR scanning or manual code entry.
- Update the PS4 system software and Pluto TV app if either is behind.
Some Pluto TV viewing may be available without signing in, depending on the app experience. The code procedure is the account-linking flow used for features associated with a Pluto TV account; menus can vary by app version.
Install Pluto TV on PS4
- From the PS4 home screen, open TV & Video. If Pluto TV is not shown there, open Library > Applications.
- Find Pluto TV and choose Download, or choose Start if it is already installed.
- Launch the app. If Pluto TV cannot be found in the library or PlayStation Store, follow the availability checks in the troubleshooting section rather than assuming the service has ended.

Activate Pluto TV with the PS4 code
- Open Pluto TV and select Sign In, Activate, or the equivalent account option shown by your app version.
- Leave the PS4 screen visible and note the temporary activation code. It is not a PlayStation Store voucher code.
- On a phone or computer, scan the QR code, or manually open the official address: pluto.tv/activate.
- Sign in with the Pluto TV account you want to use.
- Enter the code displayed on the PS4 and select Continue if prompted.
- Return to the PS4 and wait for Pluto TV to refresh. The app should return to its home screen with the account connected.
These QR, sign-in, and code-entry steps are described in Pluto’s account instructions: How to sign in to a Pluto TV account. If the app does not refresh, close Pluto TV, relaunch it, and generate a new code instead of repeatedly submitting the old one.

Fix common Pluto TV activation problems

PlayStation’s full streaming-app sequence includes updating, connection testing, restarting, reinstalling, restoring licenses, and rebuilding the database only as a late software troubleshooting measure: PlayStation streaming-app support.
Pluto TV activation is not primary PS4 activation
Pluto TV activation links the Pluto app to a Pluto account through a temporary code at pluto.tv/activate. Sony’s primary-console activation links a PlayStation account to one console and uses this path:

Settings > Account Management > Activate as Your Primary PlayStation 4 > Activate
One PS4 can be designated as primary for a PlayStation account. That setting is generally unrelated to signing in to Pluto TV and should not be used as a routine Pluto fix. Sony’s guide is Activate your primary PS4.

When Sony error codes appear
- NP-41772-1: Sony says another PS4 is already active as the account’s primary console. Deactivate the existing primary PS4 before activating another, following Sony’s NP-41772-1 guidance.
- CE-34703-7: Sony identifies this as a PS4 that is not activated and directs users to the primary-console activation path: Sony’s CE-34703-7 guidance. This does not establish that primary activation is required for Pluto TV.
When to contact support
Contact Pluto through its official customer-support route if a newly generated code is rejected, account linking repeatedly fails, or Pluto shows a service-side error after the browser, app, and account checks above. Contact PlayStation for Store availability, console software, network, or primary-console activation problems. Keep the exact error message and whether it appeared in the PS4 app, browser, or PlayStation settings; that identifies the correct support team.
