Roku needs special care: its standard app and Crunchyroll through The Roku Channel are different services.
What you need before activating
- A supported Apple TV, Roku device, PS4, Fire TV, or Xbox with internet access.
- The official Crunchyroll app installed from the device’s app store or channel store.
- A Crunchyroll account. Premium is needed for Premium-only content and features, but activating a device does not create a subscription.
- A phone or computer with internet access to enter the code, unless you use a QR code or sign in directly on the device.
- A code that is still visible on the device. Codes may change if you leave or restart the login screen.
Activate Crunchyroll with a code
- Open Crunchyroll on the TV or console and choose Log In.
- Select Log in with Code, Log in with Activation Code, or the equivalent option shown by the app.
- Note the six-character code displayed on screen.
- On a phone or computer, go to https://www.crunchyroll.com/activate.
- Sign in to the Crunchyroll account you want on the device. Check which account is active before submitting the code.
- Enter the code and select Submit, Continue, or the confirmation control shown on the page.
- Return to the device and wait for the app to refresh into the signed-in experience.
Activate on each device
Apple TV
- From the Apple TV Home Screen, open the App Store and search for Crunchyroll.
- Select Download, then open the app.
- Choose Log In and follow the code prompt if one appears. Enter it at crunchyroll.com/activate.
Crunchyroll lists tvOS 17 as the minimum Apple TV operating-system requirement. To check for an update, use Settings → System → Software Updates. These are Crunchyroll’s listed minimums, not a guarantee that every older Apple TV model will work. Crunchyroll’s supported-device list and Apple TV setup instructions provide details.
Do not confuse the Crunchyroll app with the Crunchyroll Apple TV Channel. The Channel is a separately billed Apple service; Crunchyroll says it currently offers Fan, cannot link an existing Crunchyroll membership, and is limited to the Apple TV Channel. Its listed availability is the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. See Crunchyroll’s Apple TV Channel information.
Roku
First identify which Crunchyroll product you opened. The standard Crunchyroll app/channel and Crunchyroll through The Roku Channel do not use the same account arrangement.

Standard Crunchyroll app/channel:
- Press Home on the Roku remote and open the Roku channel/app store.
- Search for Crunchyroll and add the official app if it is available for your device and region.
- Open it and choose Log In.
- Follow the sign-in method actually shown: QR code, activation code if offered, or email and password. Do not assume all Roku models show the same code screen.
Crunchyroll’s general web-activation instructions name Apple TV, PlayStation, Xbox, Fire TV, smart TVs, Android TV, and Nintendo Switch, but do not expressly list Roku. Its supported-device page lists Roku v11.0.0 b1 as the minimum software version; update Roku and the app if sign-in fails. Web activation instructions · Supported devices.
Crunchyroll through The Roku Channel: This is a Roku-managed service, not the standard Crunchyroll app. Crunchyroll says the Roku Channel subscription currently offers Fan, cannot be linked to an existing Crunchyroll account, and does not include access to the Crunchyroll website or standard app. Billing and cancellation are handled through Roku. PS4
- Install or update Crunchyroll, then open the app.
- Choose Log In and select Log in with Activation Code if available.
- Enter the six-character code at crunchyroll.com/activate, or scan the QR code if the app offers that option.
- Wait for the app to finish signing in.
Crunchyroll lists PS4 system software 10.008 as its minimum supported version. Its QR sign-in page lists app version 03.08 for QR login; the app-version note is separate from the system-software minimum. System requirements · QR sign-in information.

Fire TV
- From the Fire TV Home Screen, select Find and search for Crunchyroll by text or voice.
- Select the app, then choose Free or Download.
- Open Crunchyroll and select Log In.
- Scan the QR code if offered, or choose Log in → Log in with Code.
- For code login, visit https://www.crunchyroll.com/activate and submit the displayed code.
Crunchyroll lists Fire OS 6 as the minimum Fire TV requirement and app version 3.28.2 for QR sign-in. Fire TV may also offer signup through Amazon; Crunchyroll says that flow uses the Amazon account and payment method, and currently lists Mega Fan for that device signup. Xbox
- Install or update Crunchyroll from the Microsoft Store.
- Open the app and select Log In.
- Choose code login or QR login if offered.
- Enter the six-character code at crunchyroll.com/activate, or scan the QR code.
- Check that the app opens the account you intended to use.
Crunchyroll lists Xbox system version 10.0.17763.0 as its minimum and app version 3.2.0 for QR sign-in. Supported devices · QR sign-in information.
Choose code, QR, or password sign-in

Crunchyroll’s QR sign-in page includes version details for supported apps: Xbox 3.2.0, PS4 03.08, and Fire TV 3.28.2. It also lists PS5 02.001.004, Android TV 3.34.0, and Android 3.55.0 or later; those are QR sign-in app versions, not device operating-system minimums. See the QR sign-in page.

Crunchyroll activation code not working?
Invalid or rejected code
- Return to the TV or console and reopen the login screen to generate a fresh code.
- Make sure you are entering the newest code exactly as displayed. A code can be replaced if you leave the screen or start again.
- Use one activation-page browser tab and sign in to the account you want on the device.
- Submit the new code promptly. If it still fails, update the app and device software, then try again.
No code appears
- Choose Log In, not Start Free Trial or a signup option.
- Look for Log in with Code, Log in with Activation Code, or a QR-code option. Wording and availability differ by device and app version.
- Update the app, restart the device, then reopen Crunchyroll. If needed, uninstall and reinstall the app.
- Use email and password if code login is not offered.
- Check whether you opened a partner-channel product, such as Crunchyroll in The Roku Channel or the Apple TV Channel, rather than the standard app.
If the website itself will not let you sign in, Crunchyroll recommends checking your credentials and app, trying another browser or a private window, and disabling extensions or blockers that may interfere with login. The wrong account is on the TV
The browser session used to submit the code determines which account is linked. Sign out on the phone or computer, sign in to the intended Crunchyroll account, generate a fresh code on the device, and submit it again.

Why Premium may not appear after sign-in
First confirm the email address on the device matches the account that owns the membership. Then identify where the subscription was purchased: directly from Crunchyroll or through Apple, Amazon, Roku, PlayStation, Google Play, or another partner. Partner subscriptions are managed by the partner, and account or Premium information may not appear normally on Crunchyroll.com. Partner channels can be separate products rather than billing routes for the standard Crunchyroll account. The Roku Channel subscription cannot be linked to an existing account; the Apple TV Channel subscription also cannot be linked and is limited to that channel. Sign out of a lost, hotel, or shared device
- Sign in to Crunchyroll in a web browser.
- Open Settings → Device Management.
- Select Deactivate beside the device you no longer use, or choose Deactivate All Devices if you need to sign out more broadly.
Deactivating an individual device logs that device out while leaving your other devices signed in. Crunchyroll device-management instructions.
