The 17-second clip known online as “Everyone Knows That” was identified in April 2024 as “Ulterior Motives,” a song by twin musicians Christopher Saint Booth and Philip Adrian Booth. Its appearance in the 1986 film Angels of Passion helped solve the mystery—and the brothers’ account pointed to a larger trove of Eighties music.
How the “Everyone Knows That” mystery began
In October 2021, an anonymous user known as Carl92 uploaded a 17-second fragment of an unidentified song. The short sample circulated as “Everyone Knows That,” a nickname taken from the lyric heard in the clip. The Lost Media podcast’s listing describes the upload and the search it set off.
The fragment prompted the kinds of questions that make lost-media searches compelling: could the lyrics help identify the track, and might it be an unreleased demo by a major artist? Those were possibilities, not answers. The clip alone did not establish who made the song or where it came from.
What solved the search
In April 2024, the song was identified as “Ulterior Motives,” recorded by Christopher Saint Booth and Philip Adrian Booth. The Guardian reported that it appeared in the 1986 film Angels of Passion. The film provided the crucial context for matching the online fragment to the brothers’ work.

The discovery identified the song; it should not be confused with recovery of every original recording element or a complete original master. The available accounts establish the track’s identity and its later album release, not the survival or recovery of all source materials.
The brothers’ account pointed to more Eighties music
In a May 2024 interview with Rolling Stone, republished by Yahoo, Christopher Saint Booth described a broader body of material: “We had a whole album of this Eighties stuff.” The remark placed “Ulterior Motives” in the context of music the brothers had made during the decade, rather than presenting it only as an isolated mystery clip.

- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
The interview and the brothers’ discussion on the Lost Media podcast also gave listeners their recollections and musical history. Their account is the basis for the album tease: there was more Eighties-era material associated with the brothers, though that statement alone does not establish that every song or recording survived in complete form.
What happened to the album after the identification
The material later appeared as Ulterior Motives (The Lost Album). A Lost Media podcast episode page from June–July 2024 promoted streaming and invited listeners to order a signed copy. MusicBrainz records a CD edition. Those records distinguish the formats and the promotion at the time; they do not establish whether signed copies or CDs are in stock now.

Why the renewed attention raised concerns
In a ComicBook.com interview, the brothers discussed concerns that unauthorized covers and movie dubs could affect monetization of videos and digital sales. This was their reported concern following the song’s discovery, not a legal finding about any particular cover, upload, or sale.
