Ralphie Parker is about 42 years old in A Christmas Story Christmas. That is a timeline calculation—not an age stated numerically in the film’s official descriptions.
How the age calculation works
Legendary says the sequel takes place 33 years after the original. A Dramatic Publishing study-guide excerpt describes the young Ralphie in A Christmas Story as nine years old. Adding those figures gives an approximate age of 42: nine plus 33.

The nine-year figure comes from the study-guide excerpt, while Legendary provides the 33-year interval. The result should therefore be treated as an estimate rather than a precise age confirmed by the studio. Legendary’s production page describes the sequel’s time jump; the Dramatic Publishing excerpt gives Ralphie’s age in the original.
What the sequel says about adult Ralphie
The official descriptions present Ralphie as grown up and a father, but neither gives his exact age. Legendary’s film page and the Apple TV listing from Warner Bros. support the adult-father description; the number 42 comes from combining the timeline and original-age figures.

Why the release year does not determine his age
A Christmas Story Christmas was released in 2022, but its story is set 33 years after the original. Ralphie’s approximate age is based on the story timeline, not the gap between the films’ release dates or actor Peter Billingsley’s real age. A secondary film analysis also places the sequel in 1973 and arrives at 42, but the estimate follows from the original-age and time-jump figures. Holy Bee of Ephesus’s analysis provides that corroborating interpretation.
