On February 27, 2026, the company marked 30 years since Red and Green were released. Its 30th-anniversary announcement explicitly ties the anniversary to the February 27, 1996 launch.

Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green were role-playing games published by Nintendo for Game Boy. The official listing says the two versions featured 150 Pokémon across the games, with some appearing in only one version. Players began an adventure with a Pokémon from Professor Oak.

Their original Japanese recommended retail price was ¥3,900 before tax per version, according to the official game page. That is historical release information, not a current price or a statement about present hardware availability.
