In the United States, discovery+ costs $5.99 per month with ads or $9.99 per month without ads when purchased as an Amazon Prime Video Channel, plus applicable taxes. It is not included with Amazon Prime; eligible new customers may see a seven-day free trial, after which the subscription normally renews monthly.

Is discovery+ included with Amazon Prime?
No. Amazon Prime includes Prime Video as a membership benefit, but third-party Prime Video Channels are separate paid subscriptions. You need an eligible Amazon Prime or Prime Video account to use the channel, then pay the additional discovery+ charge. Your total can therefore include the Prime membership, discovery+, and taxes; there is no single universal total because Prime plans, billing schedules, promotions, and tax rates vary.

Is there a discovery+ free trial on Amazon?
The discovery+ Prime Video Channels page says eligible new customers may receive a seven-day free trial. Eligibility can vary if you have subscribed before or already used a related Amazon offer. Trials generally convert to the selected paid plan unless you cancel before the trial ends, so review the renewal date and price shown at checkout. Amazon may present a different promotion to a particular account.
How to subscribe through Amazon
- Sign in to the Amazon account with Prime or eligible Prime Video access.
- Open the discovery+ channel signup page.
- Review the plan, trial eligibility, taxes, renewal price, and any promotion displayed for your account.
- Select the plan you want and confirm the subscription.
- Open Prime Video and search for discovery+ programs.
If Amazon shows a different amount from a published price, use the checkout figure for your account before submitting payment.

Where do Amazon subscribers watch discovery+?
A subscription bought through Prime Video Channels is watched in the Prime Video app or on the Prime Video website in a browser. It can also be viewed on supported smart TVs and streaming devices that run Prime Video. Under the current arrangement described by discovery+, an Amazon-billed channel subscription does not provide access to the standalone discovery+ app. Use the official viewing guidance if your device setup is unclear.

How to cancel discovery+ on Amazon
- Sign in to Amazon.
- Open Manage Your Prime Video Channels.
- In Your Channels, find discovery+.
- Select Cancel Channel and confirm.
Cancellation normally stops the next renewal rather than ending access immediately. You can continue watching through the end of the current billing period, as explained in discovery+’s cancellation instructions.
If there is no cancel button
First identify who is billing you. The subscription may have been purchased through Amazon Prime Video Channels, the Amazon Appstore, discoveryplus.com, Apple, Google Play, Roku, DIRECTV, or another television provider. Cancel it in that provider’s account settings; the discovery+ billing and account hub lists the relevant routes. Canceling in the discovery+ app will not stop an Amazon-billed channel.

Choose Amazon if keeping billing and viewing inside Prime Video matters most. Choose direct billing if you specifically want the discovery+ app and its account ecosystem. Do not assume an existing direct subscription transfers to Amazon or that the two services merge. Check the current billing provider before starting another subscription, and cancel the unwanted one if you subscribed twice.
Which plan is worth choosing?
Choose the $5.99 plan when
- Your priority is the lowest recurring price.
- You accept commercial interruptions.
- You watch discovery+ occasionally or are testing the service after a trial.
Choose the $9.99 Ad-Free plan when
- You watch often and interruptions are a major annoyance.
- You value the ad-free plan’s stated benefits, including downloads where the billing route and device support them.
- The additional $4 per month is worthwhile for convenience.
What discovery+ does—and does not—promise about live TV
discovery+ is an on-demand streaming service, not automatically a replacement for a cable, satellite, or live-TV package. Live Discovery Channel feeds and other network broadcasts may require a separate television service, and rights vary by program, market, and time. Check the individual title page instead of assuming that every live channel or current season is included.

“I pay for Prime, so why is discovery+ locked?”
Prime membership does not include every Prime Video Channel. discovery+ is an additional subscription.

“The discovery+ app rejects my login.”
That is consistent with the current Amazon-channel arrangement. Open the program in Prime Video instead.
“I canceled, but I can still watch.”
Amazon generally leaves access active until the current paid or trial period ends; check the expiration date shown in your channel settings.
“Amazon’s price differs from an article.”
Use the amount Amazon displays for your account. Taxes, promotions, trial eligibility, regional settings, or a later price change can explain the difference.

Check both billing accounts, cancel the unwanted subscription, and save each confirmation. Separate subscriptions do not automatically share billing status or app access.
