Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThere is no reliable single monthly total without choosing a Vultr region and checking the current price for the exact plan. Vultr’s 2025 streaming guide recommends a starting Cloud Compute instance with 2 vCPUs, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB storage and 3 TB of bandwidth. The stream’s outbound data can incur extra charges: Vultr documents an overage rate of $0.01 per GB above the plan allowance.
What Vultr configuration does its streaming guide recommend?
Vultr’s Create a Streaming Server with OBS and Ubuntu guide, © 2025, recommends a baseline of 2 vCPUs, 4 GB RAM, 80 GB storage and 3 TB of bandwidth. This is a published starting point for its OBS workflow, not a guarantee that every resolution, frame rate or OBS scene will run comfortably.
The guide’s resolution advice is conservative: “If your server has 2 VCPus or more, use the 720p (1280 * 720) resolution.” Higher resolution and frame rate can increase processing demand. Vultr advises monitoring OBS CPU use and warns that usage above 90% may lead to dropped frames and buffering.
Vultr describes standard Cloud Compute virtual machines as shared CPU. Its provisioning documentation distinguishes Cloud Compute from High Frequency and High Performance categories, which have different CPU or storage characteristics. Do not assume a different category, or a separate GPU product, has the same price or resource profile as the recommended shared-CPU setup.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why the exact monthly cost depends on your choice
Vultr’s current hourly and monthly rates depend on the selected plan, and some prices can vary by location. Its support documentation points customers to the official pricing page for current rates. The price for the precise recommended shared-CPU configuration could not be verified here, so a precise monthly instance total would be misleading. Check the page for your chosen data-center location before budgeting.
Also distinguish the base instance price from costs that depend on your deployment. Backups, snapshots, Windows licensing and taxes should only be included if your setup actually uses them; their current charges are not established here.

How much bandwidth does a 24/7 stream use?
A continuous stream sends data from the Vultr instance to YouTube, so outbound traffic counts toward the plan’s bandwidth allocation. Vultr says inbound traffic is not metered. Bitrate and uptime determine the stream’s approximate outbound data volume; resolution and frame rate often influence the bitrate you need.
Estimate transfer by multiplying the stream bitrate by the number of streaming seconds, then converting bits to bytes and bytes to GB or TB. State whether you use decimal units (1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes) or binary units (1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes); the resulting figure is an estimate, not a measured bill. For a constant bitrate of b kilobits per second streamed continuously for 30 days, a decimal estimate is approximately b × 324 GB, before protocol overhead or other outbound traffic.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Vultr’s OBS guide gives these recommended bitrate ranges. They are Vultr’s guidance, not independent measurements:
| Output setting | Vultr guide bitrate range |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 FPS | 1,500–4,500 Kbps |
| 720p at 60 FPS | 2,500–6,500 Kbps |
| 1080p at 30 FPS | 3,000–6,500 Kbps |
| 1080p at 60 FPS | 4,500–9,500 Kbps |
Use the bitrate you actually configure, not just the resolution label, in your estimate. A higher bitrate increases data volume as well as potentially increasing processing requirements.

Does Vultr charge extra for bandwidth overages?
Yes. Vultr’s documentation, What Is the Bandwidth Overage Rate?, updated 16 December 2025, says: “Bandwidth usage exceeding your plan’s allocated quota is billed at an overage rate of $0.01 per GB.” Apply that rate only to outbound usage above the plan’s included allocation. The total cost is therefore the selected instance price plus any applicable overage and any optional charges used by your deployment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical way to estimate your bill
- Choose the Cloud Compute plan and region. Check the current hourly and monthly prices on Vultr’s pricing page for that selection; location may affect price.
- Set a realistic stream configuration. Choose resolution, FPS and bitrate based on the content and the server’s available processing capacity. Higher settings can require more CPU and outbound data.
- Estimate monthly outbound transfer. Multiply bitrate by expected streaming seconds, convert units consistently, and include any other outbound traffic from the instance.
- Compare transfer with included bandwidth. If estimated outbound use exceeds the plan allocation, estimate overage using Vultr’s documented $0.01-per-GB rate.
- Add only applicable extras. Include backups, snapshots, licensing or taxes only when relevant and after checking their current charges.
This method yields a planning estimate, not a guaranteed bill: actual transfer can differ from a constant-bitrate calculation, and current plan pricing must be checked for the selected location.

When a different Vultr streaming route may apply
Vultr also documents a Broadcaster Marketplace App based on an A16 GPU instance. Its guide describes using source files uploaded to the server for a 24/7 stream. That is a separate hosted OBS route, not the standard shared-CPU Cloud Compute configuration above. Compare its current product details and price independently rather than applying the shared-CPU baseline or assuming the two routes cost the same.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want continuous YouTube playback without maintaining your own OBS server, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it loops uploaded videos in the cloud at the quality you supplied, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot. It can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams using uploaded video, not live camera broadcasting. Read more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
